Mmmm-Hmmmmm!
What his means is that gold accrued on one character is accessible on other characters. Not only do you have a "shared stash" but you have a "shared pot of gold!"
I'm quite sure hardcore will have it shared with hardcore and softcore with softcore. Just like the items from the shared stash. It wouldn't make any sense if gold would be any different.

yeah, i agree with this 100%. Its just the way he worded it that makes it seem like it could be possible. But 100% agree it wouldnt make since with the idea behind playing hardcore.
It wouldn't be too "harcore" if you just played software till you got the best items and then used them all in hardcore again.
Indeed, and the same thing could be achieved with a shared gold pot between SC and HC.
Say you gather a lot of gold in SC, than start a HC character. Since HC players will only have access to a HC Gold Auction House (No real money AH for HC players), they could pretty much buy their HC gear right off the bat. So it would pretty much end the same as if items could be traded between SC and HC.
I'm very confident SC and HC will be separated completely.
Now a question that just popped up in my head, since you can buy/sell characters on the SC AH, can the same be done in HC? How much would a max lvl character go for in the HC AH?

Well, you would only be able to sell it for gold. Right... well they cant sell items/buy items with RMAH...
so can they sell themselves?
Im gonna go with they cant.. but...I duno.. would they even allow you to sell them as gold?
I recall clearly reading that HC players won't have access to a RMAH. I don't recall however reading about them not being able to sell characters on their Gold AH.
We know we can buy/sell characters in SC from the pic above, I'm just curious if HC players can also.

Exaclty what I was say.. Which kind of kills the point.
You can sell it for gold... Which is helpful but not grand... But to me the idea of haven characters for well is so someone can jump into the game fast, thus they need to buy it with cash... So even if it does sell for gold... Will there be a "lot" of buyers? As in order to get that kind of gold in HC they most pokey would already have to have a high level character
But yeah either way I cant wait to find out how it will end up, just another exciting thing.
Ps: sorry if there's odd typos in there, on iphone
Edit: omg that reads horrible.. Sorry... Hopefully it's somewhat readable...."pokey"
Edit2: just thought, if you don't lose your gold when you die ( due to it being tied to all hardcore chars) you could just "buy" a new character of the same class... So other than gear its like you never died... Duno if I like that

Losing the gear is likely WAY more valuable than the gold.
There will be a business of selling maxed HC chars, but it's not going to be cheap. If HC chars aren't losing gold on death for example, that just means more gold circulating in the economy, everything has inflated values, and new toons will cost more.
I think this makes sense and will certainly make starting new chars much easier. It's a feature that exists whether gold is shared or per character because one could simply mule gold onto a new char like in D2. It's cool to have shared stash and shared gold, should be good.
I feel this a confirmation that gold might be useable across soft-core/hard-core, too!
How do you figure that?
Hardcore is as isolated from softcore as each server in world of warcraft is from each other, you can "cross server chat" but you cant interact/trade etc... between them.
Blizzard wouldn't ruin the hardcore aspect by letting you give gold from softcore.
And for softcore.... ofc you can share the gold between characters.
Remember that the Auction House is only accessible from your battlenet login screen. Might make a difference as to what options are available to hardcore/softcore and/or both.
their will be no link between hardcore and softcore characters in anyway. Haven't read it stated that way, but from everything they are saying, there will be no way to funnel gold, items, or anything from hardcore to softcore or vis a verse.
+1 for you Marlance. Didn't think about the ability to purchase gold, which has been stated that you can do that. If the gold was shared across both platforms (hardcore/softcore) but HC players couldn't purchase items off the RMAH, someone could easily purchase gold off the SC RMAH and use it on the HC Gold Auction House.
Highly unlikely the gold will be available for both Hardcore/Softcore players. Must be separate for each. Darn blue posts leading me to believe otherwise >.<
There will be no way that the gold will be linked between SC and HC. Since the value of gold will be tied to real money in SC and will be the only currency in HC, there will be a large difference in the value of gold between the too. Gold will be much more valuable in HC and allowing players to transfer from SC would ruin that.

Thats a good question though.
I still think the stash will be tied to softcore/hardcore only... and I figured the gold would be stored to that.. but the way the blue posted, yeah.
I still think itll be tied to softcore/hardcore characters... but heck only time will tell. This will be interesting.
I agree, the stashes are separate (softcore/hardcore) but I think the gold might be shared across all toons no matter what.
