Skill allocation - "You begin the game with only 2 active skills and no passives. The last four active skill slots can be unlocked at levels 6, 12, 18, and 24, and the three passive skill slots are unlocked at levels 10, 20, and 30."
Knowing skill points have been completely removed from D3, then does character progression/creation stops at level 30?
I was wondering if anyone was caught off guard by this information? Our last 'new thing' that contributes to our character happens at level 30....HALFWAY through the total level progression. After level 30....what am I doing? Will we be done building our character? Is loot going to be the primary objective after lvl 30? (not necessarily complaining)
I was curious about this. Didn't want character progression to end so quickly in terms of acquiring skills/traits. In D2, we didn't acquire more skills past Clvl30, but we had points to spend and beef them up throughout the rest of our gameplay.
One one note I believe the big character improvement aspect will be getting higher level runes to bring out the potential of your skills. leveling and equipment will beef up your skills as you go along, but I think skill runes will be the equivalent of oldschool skill leveling, like giving a skill a larger effective range or more damage.
You'll have access to all the systems by the end of Normal, but that doesn't mean you're going to scratch the surface with them.
You'll be leveling your artisans, teaching them to make new items, finding higher quality runes, finding higher quality gems, combining gems, finding loot in Nightmare that doesn't drop in Normal, finding loot in Hell that doesn't drop in Nightmare, etc. and really continuing to max out use of each of the available power adjustments.
Plus the need to really tighten up builds, get a good mix of skills, pick the right passives to support them, and gear out in specific directions becomes more and more important as the game gets tougher.
I don't think having to become a better player and invest more in all the game systems is a "deadzone", it's where the game gets challenging.
