Is it me or do the items in D3 look really lame. They look like they spent no time in drawing them. The items look like they are from D1 in the way they are designed. They look so unrefined. The items from D2 look way better then what I've seen. You would think the time they took to make the game they would have made the items look better. Am I the only one who thinks this???
These are some examples. I feel like I'm looking at art from games that were in the mid 90's. If you click on the video and watch it on youtube it shows them bigger.
How is this off topic it's about the game and the lack of detail in the way the items look. I'm not talking about the items the way they look when you see the character carrying them. I talking about when you look in your inventory.
I agree that the items look a little closer to the items in the original Diablo, but I like that look - I think it fits the style of the paper doll better than 3D renderings or the D2-style items.
Here is an inventory on D2. http://imageshack.us/f/195/screenshot012x.jpg/ Look at the detail on all the items, they looks so much better. I hope the images of the D3 armor aren't the final drawings.
The only items you've seen: Starter items Basic normal items Demo items
All critiques (more like complaints) are on a rocky foundation until you actually progress through Hell, are level 60, and have seen the rarest items throughout all 18 item tiers and the best Legendaries. Until then, /thread

The final test of the Serpent's Form takes place in "The Pit of 12 Vipers." The initiates are not told about the 13th.

Good point. But still even a lot of the lower class items in D2 had more detail and refinement. I guess it's the art style they are shooting for in D3. Which is fine I guess.
I don't understand you fellas. I think they look pretty much universally awesome. Some of the older ones weren't always great, but everything we've seen in the last year or so looks badass.
Well, considering that D2 had maybe 100 item looks max and D3 has about 1,000 item looks, I will let what little detail your are trying to point out slide. I will take 10x the amount of looks for the minor (I still think the D3 look better) loss in detail.
Plus each picture of the item has to reflect how it actually looks on the character now as oppose to D2 so that also takes into account the amount of detail they include.

They're low res pictures but the armor still looks top notch!
We must have very different definitions of "top notch". Those are particularly bad, with the black outlines and all. If that was the final design, I would be screaming "Wtf <insert bad Hack&Slash company here>, give me my Blizzard back!".
The ones that OP linked actually look much better, which confirms my view that it's too early to judge. Still, the DIII ones have a more stylized tint to them, while the DII ones are closer to a realistic image.

- Almost all those pictures are at different resolutions and different dates in development.
-Secondly, D2 pics don't look better to me.
-Third, games is not released yet.

All the pictures look clear to me except for the last one.
All these items have more detail and depth. http://h4.abload.de/img/screenshot0378tqw.jpg
That little list of screenshots was 3/4 old items I think, but http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KSkz9P01e64/TfoMexGqFaI/AAAAAAAAAp0/2JUYwHXW6fA/s1600/Diablo3-Armorsets.jpg this one? They're low res pictures but the armor still looks top notch!
