Do you think like me, as in: Take teleport out of the game for the love of god, or at least dont let an item like nigma give it to anyone. MF runs that kill the economy, PVP that is horridly imbalanced.
I think that this issue is similar to any other D2 element that was overly abused, everyone used it at one time or another, everyone profited from it mostly. I think the marvel of teleport has come to the end of it's days. Most players realized by now that it takes the fun out of the game to a certain degree. (It would totally obsolete the need for movement physics in D3). It creates gameplay issues in balance between chars. I mean the list just goes on and on. And all the Diablo Players know it by heart... Not saying directly that teleport should not be implemented in D3. But I'm definately "for" limiting it's usage both in (characters that can access this skill) and the casting physics of the teleport spell.
Agreeing with Blitzer on the cooldown possibility. Although it might not be the only solution to the problem, or the best. But it is a step in the right direction. Maybe by making it mana costly, adding a unpredictability factor or even a recouperation time span after use...... the possibilities are numerous. Really needs to be tested out and balanced so to prevent further abuse. My money is on Blizzard really doing a huge adjustment to it before the release , if in fact it will be used by the spellcaster class that they have in store for us.
But that's only my opinion

I think that teleport should have a cooldown so that it's not used to speed through the game, but to get to the other side of a horde of monsters, or to teleport down a floor instead of looking around for a ladder. Also, items like Enigma that allow all classes to teleport was too over-used.

It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.
Hmm...Teleport worked well in Diablo II because of the nature of the Sorceress; fragile at close combat i.e. I was never a fan of items that gave you cross-class skills- that completely bastardized the uniqueness of each class for me.
But honestly I don't see it making a return as all classes are being given appropriate tools to deal with monster masses such as the witch doctor's AoE Fear or Monster Flee effect.
I think we'll see more crowd control rather than crowd evasion tools. Teleport meant more time running away from monsters and less time beating the crap out of them-based on the new 'constant action' game philosophy, I suspect that we won't be seeing a teleport mechanic in D3.

or do you think teleport should stay in, and why?
Teleporting was what made me really hate Sorcs in D2. Not even because of their MF abilities, but because walking two inches across their screen is totally below them. They have to teleport even just to take a piss. Yes. Get rid of it I say.
First off, if town portals shouldn't be included, that would take care of rushing on a big scale. Also, the aim is to focus more on teamplay instead of MF runs. If doing random quests in a dungeon in a group is rewarding enough, we would see less bossruns and more slaughter of common enemies.
I'm okay with this new game philosophy. But the only reason obsess over MF so bad is because of the horrible odds at finding premium items. So if they worked out the drops to be a bit more favorable than that would definitely make the difference.
If your Sorceress is doing 30k damage, you probably have all perfect gear. Any character with all perfect gear owns PVP or PVM.
Teleport was the counter balance to the immunes that completely incapacitated the Sorceress. Teleport is what made the game fair for her. No one would have been a Sorceress for any length of time after most of Nightmare mode if she didn't have it. Since she can't kill most monsters, she should at least be able to go places other characters that don't have those limitations can't.
Teleport for just one character is fine. The real issue was giving it to everyone.
I don't know. I'd rather have teleport on a like 4 second cool down. It's just plain lazy to teleport all over for no other reason than not having to click and wait.
I'd like to see it more used for escape in serious situations rather than a easy way to well... do any form of traveling/getting away.
I definitely don't want to see another enigma item and everyone having it, it made PvP boring to me. PvP should be able to be balanced WITHOUT everyone needing teleport.
Definitely a cooldown is needed, but LONG cooldown! As far as I'm concerned, they can bring it back, but they'll have to make it much harder to get and use (mana cost for example)!
If you take out teleport, you take out the stability of the pvp system of D2.
No characters could equal a sorc without having Enigma in duel or mostly. The fact is that teleport make the game faster and more efficient to accomplish other goal as trading, level uping, mfing, and stuff like that. This armor changed my vision of what a game like that could do and accomplish and D2 have done something with the runewords of 1.10 something new and amazing. I won't have play D2 so long if the possibilty its gave me (to create characters so much great and having super power like teleport) would have not exist. I playing a game before everything else for the fun its give me, D2 with the 1.10 new style make me play insanely and gave me more fun and diversity than most of the other game out there. Dueling won't have take a big part of the game for me without Enigma which is mean that I would have not last so long on Battlenet that I did. I love teleport and to remplace it they will have a lot of work to do something that will compete with it. Having only the sorc with teleport would have make pvp totally suck. So maybe instead having a skill for each charaters that permit them to do something similar would work. Hope to see teleport not taking a place in a dirt corner and letting the pvp dying in D3 just because of this debate that run surely a lot in Blizzard office. A good recipe stay a good recipe. D3 ftw!

Is it bad in how it was implemented in D2, yes.
They just need to make it much less mana-friendly, and maybe make it a little slower on cool down, and itd probably be fine.

Siaynoq's Playthroughs
This will prevent MF super runs, and abuse in pvp, while still letting teleport be usefull to a player
otherwise, yea, like i said before no. lol
