i havent read all of the replies but sticking to the first question... There may be a spotlight over the characters to make them pop out becuase of the art. Now that the environment is bright, they may want to make sure u can see ur character, especially since its Diablo style click to move, not mmo like WASD to move.
haha.. well i read through the 13 pages so far and it originally went from, the barb had a spotlight on him, to the redheaded barb issue, to the barb is/is not the same as d2, to somehow a starcraft debate (this one made me laugh out loud), to someone saying it was originally about the barbs weapons glowing...
haha, nice, way to stay on topic.
Well, to the original poster... i would not say it looks like he has a spotlight on him, at least from what i see it clearly shows there is light coming from the left casting shadows to the right, even the barb has shadows cast across the left side of his body (yes, left side, hes facing us)
other than that fact, blizzard also stated they wanted a large contrast between the players, item drops, and monsters and that of the world. they want you to instantly recognize your guy or items when you see them.
besides, its just a short video to give us a taste, plenty will change in the coming months so i wouldnt worry too much about nit-picking the entire thing, second by second, frame by frame
I take back what I said dawgma because now I realize that you are just doing what you can to try to improve the game. You have good intentions. So I applaud you for doing your best to improve the game before it gets released. It is not like you are doing a crime by writing these things, you are actually putting in time/effort to create the image you have created which is legal to do where we live. So I appreciate what you are doing, and keep it up.
