Disclaimer : Please do not come into this thread to flame or make incessant claims that this will not be Diablo at all with these new systems. Do not claim it is a copy of World of Warcraft just because of this idea. Many games to this day borrow ideas from others. There are no "original" games anymore, only original concepts. Even Diablo 1 and 2 were worlds of difference when D2 added new things and even then, the "hardcore" fans would whine that it wasn't "Diablo."
If you really did play Diablo 2 over B.net at all then you know the economy sucked because of the myriad of uniques everyone had. Even I had four mules packed with high-end runes and gear and I had one mule carrying specifically Windforces, Eaglehorns, Stormshields, and Grandfathers.
When a game's item, like in Diablo 2, never had to be destroyed or sold because there was no reason to, then the economy will blow. If you can just keep muling or stashing or trading HIGH-END uniques over and over again, even after using them, then it becomes Diablo 2 in terms of trading / economy all over again.
Gold has no value in Diablo 2 whatsoever, only to repair your gear. When I used to frequent the trade channels and I hear, "40 SoJs for a .08 Windforce!! WHISPER ME NOW!!" it became quite clear that the economy went to crap.
Blizzard has to, and I strongly emphasize this because then it will be Diablo 2's economy again, implement some sort of way to stop the influx and retainment of high-end uniques to be able to be traded over and over again. And I believe a BoP (for certain universal items, like maybe a +20 attribute amulet ^_^) would help deter the economy from going to crap.
Now, with the Bind on Equip system, one would still be able to trade high-end uniques but once it is equipped, it becomes yours forever and cannot be traded. This will at least let a spellcaster who picks up a Mace +2 to sell to a warrior class without problems. I'm not saying that this will stop all items from becoming currency (hello, SoJs and runes) but it will at least stop the economy from going to crap.
It won't intertwine with the intended gameplay RPG not MMORPG
How so? Is it because you know that WoW uses this system so therefore it is only warranted for MMORPGs? I wonder what your claim would be if D3 was the first to use this system... Sigh.
D2 is the type of game where people will making a lot of characters. i wouldnt be supprized if i made over a hundred when i played. I wouldnt want to have to get a new item for each of them.

I wonder if you even read my post.
I didn't propose a universal BoP idea, only for certain items where it's clear all classes can use it. For instance, maybe a +attribute amulet or ring. Maybe a +resistance to elemental spells hood.
what you are suggesting is the one thing that will destroy one of the biggest part that makes diablo.. diablo... keep the looting system as it is, maybe add some kind of rolling system like wow but that should be it.
I'm guessing you didn't read my post, either. I even said there would still be obvious items that would become a part of a trade, but if you want this to become another Diablo 2 economy, then I guess that's your right to say so, but it doesn't mean it's a bad idea if you want a major flaw in the game. You don't want gold to have value, do you?

maybe you took my comment to specifically. i like tranfering my items many times. between my remade characters if i wanted to perfect them. maybe i redesigned the entire thing. maybe i want to use it on a diferent class. maybe i want to let my friend use it.
the biggest reason why the economy blew up in d2 was because of duping. but after awhile it settled down. the economy will always settle down, just that some things were worthless, like gold, and needed to be replaced by a higher form of currency, sojs...
By the way, I am all for new ideas and even dissenting opinions, but not when a poster clearly doesn't understand my post and claims I am somehow proposing to kill what makes Diablo "Diablo."
my god, that would mean totally crap when playing with my friend which i think is teh definitive best gaming experience
i down know how many times we exchanged items that we all own toghether between our acconts, becouse it was so comon

Well what if you tried this ring on to see how you liked it and found you liked another ring better, the best part of D2 was your ability to trade that item and get what you wanted.
If people want to spend all their time on D3 just hunting for items so that you can trade with them, so be it. Let them spend their time how they choose, its the same if you wanted to spend your whole time questing.
I am positive it will be changed to benefit everyone.

Hmm, I see. I must give credence when it's due and I completely forgot about the PLAGUE that is duping! However, it will still be Battle.net where your computers hold the data, whereas WoW's servers and characters are owned by Blizzard. I still suspect hacks / dupes in Diablo 3, even if it is Battle.net 2.0.

if your playing online your diablo 3 characters will exclusivly be stored on their server. they have had years of experience and wont let hacking ruin such a big game.
Dude just becuase you want the currency of the game tobe gold doesnt mean we all have to go your way? hwat is the matter with trading items for items why should we use gold or coins for items? i live go these 2 shakos for that Vampire-Gaze? thats how the game is made top tier items dont have drop rates like in WoW do some research on Diablo 2 before you get to thinkin gup ideas on it. Grand fathers and WF's didnt drop every 10 kills or something they dropped like one in 100 or 1000. also stop posting this retarded threads like this we already have one we dont need every nerd to come up in here and telling us about this BoP and BoE system we know how it works suprisingly only very very few people bring up that idea why becuase those people played WoW dont lie you played it. diablo isnt even a mmo so why would you think something used in a MMO could work in diablo 2 different games. keep your damn WoWness away from Diablo next thing you know we'll have gnomes mages....
I dont care about shity art style, i dont care about crappy new loot system, i dont care about games with 5-6 pp max, but if this is implemented i wont buy D3.
I didnt even bother to read OP, its stupid and should not be in D3.
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
