What point? There isn't a point... It wouldn't help the economy and it wouldn't stop people from duping. The SOJ is rare and BOE guess what? I have 200 of them duped with your system the only thing that happens is people will pay more for these items via paypal... I don't think you understand the diablo 2 community when it comes to hacks and selling items on ebay/paypal.
So you trade everything of value you have for an item and equip it all of it's value it gone because now you can't trade it? Great point sir. Now we can go grind some more right instead of enjoying the game and having *Freedom* which you don't have with a BOE system.
LOL, so now BOE breaches the "FREEDOM" you have in Diablo III?! That is just not right! It's funny how you ASSUME there will be dupes and hacks in Diablo III - a game that isn't even close to being released yet.
I dont think these arguments prove this OP one way or another. You are citing it as a solution to an economy that has not been established, and is not broken.

Lol... and how can you assume that BoE will prevent the economy in D3 to be broken? - ''a game that isn't even close to being released yet.''
Get real, folks, the diablo you all knew is dead, a few years ago i said right here in this forum that D3 had a pretty good chance of being blizzard first bust (i was flamed to death ofc), and what you know, its not even beta and its already looking that way.
LOL, so now BOE breaches the "FREEDOM" you have in Diablo III?! That is RETARDED! It's funny how you ASSUME there will be dupes and hacks in Diablo III - a game that isn't even close to being released yet.
There is dupes and hacks in world of warcraft, not as many because of how the GM system. You're being delusional if you honestly think there won't be hacks and dupes in diablo 3.
What do you gain from having bind of equip items?! Nothing oh the item is out of the economy? last time I checked this is diablo not capitalism and economy PLUS the game.
Yeah there is a freedom to having a uber armor and being able to freely trade it your other characters or letting a friend have it, even giving it away to some new player who has cheap item you need and you're hooking them up with a deal.
1 good reason besides the BS about the economy as why boe is a good idea??
Just in case you smart guys didn't realize people would be walking around in dupe shit in world of warcraft, except for the fact someone would report you to a GM and you'd be banned. That isn't going to happen in diablo 3 guys it's not an MMO there isn't raid instances which blizzard is trying to protect with BOP gear.
I never really liked the D2 trading system either, I do not however want to have to deal with a bind system. However, if there was a bind system implemented I would say that it is bound to an account, so other characters could still use it, you could mule it, just not trade it keeping gold an important part of the game (if they intend for it to be, and dont change that). This is also assuming that we can make a few more characters per account than D2 but, still, it is a 'middle' ground if you will. Thoughts?

That's a good idea, BOE, that binds to an account rather than a character.
I personally am against the idea of a Binding method on items. loot trading is a huge part of diabloII, dont get me wrong, i agree with the economy problem, but the start of the problem doesnt lie with the trading/drop/binding system
waht does it lie upon then? Dupes.
the reason the economy become so crappy is because dupes were so common. think what the diabloII economy would be like if so many dupes hadnt taken place? i dont even need to explain this any further i dont think
Ninja looting? From what I've been reading, loot is character specific.
Hum my bad then... wasn't aware of that ><

So basically you're suggesting Blizzard to kill D3, right?
Erm... you are going a bit too far sir. Killing a game just by loot control? Dupes did indeed kill the economy and I really wish Blizz finds a way to prevent anyway to dupes items...
That's why I'm not against the BoP ... however! if they find a way to control loot and prevent duping then of course I'll prefer that to BoP and BoE items.

You could kill a boss 1,000 times and not find a soj easily you realize that with a bind system you wouldn't ever collect uber gear unless you played all day, use a bot, dupe or buy stuff from ebay?
With a bind system you're only hurting everyone from the casual gamer to the player who plays 24/7. The only people who benefit from it would be people who bot and dupe because they could sell their stuff for more profit via paypal...
Every has a WF? it sells for 5$ on paypal it's bind on equip? it sells for 200$ and you'd never get your hands on it either unless you got lucky and botted it.
SoJ's and whatnot is simply the currency of D2. Gold could never be good enough for currency, in that particular game.
Most MMO's have that economic problem, in which gold/loot keeps increasing as player keep playing. What many developers do is create gold "sinks," basically new, extremely rare valuables (that normally have little effect on gameplay - like stuff that you can decorate your character with, too make him more unique) that can be purchased from vendors.
Of course, in D2, none of the vendors have anything that valuable, and none buy SoJ's.
The only MMORPG I've ever played, besides D2 (it's massive, multiplayer, and online. How does it not qualify as an MMORPG?), is Guild Wars, and they had a nice economy system (gold was worth something). I'm assuming that WoW has a good system, because WoW is such a successful game, so hopefully they already know how to make a nice economy, but if they don't, they can always take a page from other MMO's.

Ranger - Ranged Weapon Mastery (fire a bow or javelins like a machine gun!), Traps (MK style!), Pets (lions, tigers, and bears oh my!) - physical damage based
Demonologist - Bone Spells (Necro style!), Avatar (shapeshift into a demon!), Furies (evil spirits that hang around you, giving party bonuses) - mix of physical damage and magic
LEAP ATTACK!!!!! PLAGUE OF TOADS!!!!!
SLOW TIME!!!!!
I seriously don't get why some people here keep bringing up how a BoE system will "mess up" the trading/bartering system. NO IT WON'T! Now, a BoP system, yes it will. BoP I'm totally against; BoE DEFINITELY agree with. You can STILL trade BoE items. I don't think some people understand that. Some people here just don't think about how this game will do in the long run.
Just think if there wasn't any sort of item regulating system in D3. Uniques and Rares will ALWAYS be coming INTO the economy, but they will NEVER, I repeat NEVER, EXIT OUT! What do you think will happen next? A F'ed up economy where there will be CONSTANT changing prices and even some items that will get to the point of becoming COMPLETELY worthless. Think people, think.
I agree completely, there needs to be some way to shrink the ever-growing economy. BoE sounds like a good idea. If you find an item that isn't for you, you can just not equip it and trade it off. Unfortunately, I don't think this alone will do much. I'm sure Blizzard will come up with some sly ways of handling all the websites this time around.
Yeah, I think the BoP system would be a bad idea now (after hearing some good arguments here) but I do think BoE would be a great implementation, as Krauser and Zellogs have discussed.

Good point there, didn't thought about it.
The only point I keep : I want Blizzard to fix the dupe and buying online item system.
Btw... you can't buy stuff on Ebay if its bind item

Actually i was talking about the ''end excessive trading...'' part. Trading played a KEY role in D2, and i'm sure it will also in D3.

im high lol, also your an idiot my friend dude respecs are in other games b esides WoW what the effff are you talkena bout? you just cant implement that kinda game style on Diablo its unqiue its nothing like a MMO there is no raid in diablo 2 you could solo all the bosses on hell dif i mean come on man you couldnt solo illidan by your self now couldya? so yea........
You claimed that a feature like BoE shouldn't be in D3 because it was in MMO. Since when does such a feature belong to one specific genre? Oh wait, you can't explain it because you're an abject fool.

I don't, it's an idea - that's the whole point of this thread. We don't need people like him rolling in being an ass with nothing constructive to add.
