in that case learn to stop living paycheck to paycheck. It's a bad habit anyway....It's nobodies fault but your own that you do not know how to manage your money.
jeez.. get off this guy's case man, if he doesn't have the money, he doesn't have the money.
ok about the first post, no game cards if there would be a fee? and what about 9/10 of europe? no one here uses a credit card. They would be losing a HUGE market if they did that
Also, its not an MMO and it has single player, so the monthly fee would be somewhat neglectible.
Another thing, i will prolly only play online like a month or so, i prefer doing LAN with just a few friends over online. Online play in Diablo is fun but it somewhat makes it seem more like work then like a fun game with a good story in wich you can just kill time and have fun.
I am NOT willing to pay $180 a year plus the price of the game just to be able to play, I doubt they need those resources. That is almost like purchasing a new game every other month and unless they do this it would simply not be worth it. Can I not take the new patch and or new edition and not pay that month? It shouldn't be mandatory.
However I have no problem paying for maintenance and a reliable hack free game. Therefore what I think might be a good alternative is since the game will be played on battle.net charge a yearly subscription for ALL battle.net games, something along the lines of what Microsoft does for XBox live. Therefore the choice is yours and you have the ability to play other Blizzard games on Battle.net
If the Devs don't have enough incentive to maintain a healthy economy and make well timed expansions, then I wouldn't mind paying a monthly fee.
There aren't many games out there that can keep my attention, zero as of now. Now, if there was one that could, Diablo was one for many years, then I have no problem keeping it so.
I haven't heard one good excuse for not being able to pay a monthly fee... If you can't afford it, then you should reevaluate your priorities and start working. The only thing I can think of, that would be a valid reason, is if the game is simply not worth the money... But it's Blizzard so I am quite optimistic.
Pay to play won't happen, especially if they impliment it without the use of gametime cards, even blizzard realises alot of their player base wont have access to a credit card, denying access to gametime cards will lose profit.
While I would pay to play this game, if i had to i would cancel my subscription to wow since i'll be on d2 consistently, funneling money into wow would be a waste.

I can sympathize with you there, i can't find a game lately where i find myself eager to play, sad really. even GTA IV gets a little boring, i just got it
Your telling me you can not make or save 15 bucks a month to pay for it? I find that hard to believe for anyone. Millions of people are able to find way to play WoW. Where there is a will there is a way.
It's not a "I can't afford it," it's the idea that I'm paying to play something that I already own...if you can't handle the kiddies then make private games, I've never had a big problem with them...I've got better things to spend money on...

Looking for members of the old DarkKillers Paladin clan...
Even though Diablo/Starcraft ought to stay free on Battle.net (especially considering that WoW brings in millions each month), how many of you would pay a small fee for a premium package? For example, given the current system (characters expire after 11 days unless you play for 2 hours; then they expire after 3 months; etc.), would you pay a small amount to have more characters per account and/or have them never expire? I'm thinking like $5 per month or less...
1. Keep the kiddies out. I am tired of 14 year old punks ruining my gaming experience. With a monthly fee, that is payable by credit card not game card, it would get rid of a lot of immaturity and would result in a better game. The game is rated M for a reason. Go watch your bob the builder and leave the gaming to the adults, thanks.
I am 15 years old, and i am very mature ingame. to denie access to really, the gaming generation would be cruel, i do agree a monthly fee would be great, for patches Etc. but we need game cards, its simply unfair not to have them. We are, the gaming generation, we have as much right as you to play. just as much. but again, a monthly fee would be awesome.
B.NET should remain FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!
money will not prevent hackers nor childern! children in our days finds the money and buy new cell phone every 2 months!
we want a game to play when we have time, not killing our real life or get stressed, cause blizzard will make a new update-patch and turns the all think to WoW theory!
a game should be relaxing not presure like WoW turned to be!
adiction comes to Everybody no matter how educated or old is he/she.
they announce sometimes people got married in wow etc, but if they ever announce how many people are divorsed or in "proportion" you will be socked!
NO WAY! Diablo III stays Clean free RPG.-
online doesnt mean better support always.
and Blizzard after 10years they never left a sinlge game Unpatched!!!or non Updated!!!
for those want Diablo MMO dont worry next years WWI or WWI 2010, cause 2009 will propably be a Diablo3 expansion, blizzard will announce that the next gen mmorpg is in diablo world. dont you see, the "World" in www.diablo3.com section isnt just for the diablo story, they are preparing this step for years now
they are smart.
im sorry if you feel that way, but i was addicted to D2, but never seemed to get hooked on wow. but this will be a main part of my life, idc if u say i have no life, i love games (maybe to much) but really 5 dollars a month aint bad, not at all. i mean i wont spend all day, but a generous amount slaughtering monster with some friends.
I been lurcking around this forum for about a week and finally registered. I just wanted to add my thoughts in about this. Read before you flame please.
There are many reasons I would like there to be a monthly fee, or at least wouldn't mind it.

2. If blizzard plans to regularly update this game like wow, then I don't mind one bit paying for the content. It would give extra money to blizz for new enhancements and whatnot. We were all complaining about how d2 hardly ever got updated. Well, why should they when they have no reason incentive to. Added levels, bosses, items, bug fixes, and world events is way worth the cost to me.
There are many other reason however those are the main two.
Also, something else i thought of. Let say they start out with a fee of 5-10 dollars a month. Thats cheap as hell. However, every time you are caught using a hack, cheat, or exploit they raise that price 5 dollars. It would be a incentive not to cheat because it would start effecting the wallet.
Lastly, to the people who say they they cant afford a monthly payment. Honestly, if you cant afford 15 bucks max a month then you really need to get a better job or something and not play games. Im sorry, but if you are struggling to pay that small ammount of money you have other issues.
Bring your lunch to work 3 days a MONTH and save that money.
Dont spend 19 bucks at the movies and have that money.
Dont buy a case of beer and you can have the money.
If you are responsible with it you can easily find extra money.
It's over Battle.net, and its already been said that there will be no monthly fee, tough for you. I'm fifteen years old, and if you dislike me playing your "adult" videogame then please, I plead of you, don't. Blizzard won't change their current game in order to make it more convenient to you, so please, do us all a favour, grow up and stop bitching.

This little "punk" just wooped your ass! Ya its over battle.net there will not be a monthly fee. Do the claculation of how much blizzard makes off of 10 million accounts! Seriously dude do you really believe that they will create a monthly fee over a game thats for ONE on battle.net which would have to make sc2 and wc3 tft p2p as well. That would make SOOOOO many players angry. You have no idea.
OMG! Shut up! BNet is free ~ always has been. For all of you 15 year olds ~ You lied to be here!
Only thing that scares me is Blizzard has stated they have yet to announce the plans with Battle.net V2.0. For all we know they might slap on a 4.99 monthly fee to play on battle.net v2.0 to help with customer service and other types of things they do to keep things up and running ultra smooth.
I don't think diablo 3 will be a monthly payment game, that's why people will be influenced by purchasing it otherwise than WOW, and child have parents and parents have credit cards so your argument don't stand at all. I'm sick of all the p2p games, I can save money for it, but I have already a loan for my university studies, a loan for my car and I got an appartment to pay and all the rest who's coming with it, so it will be a total waste of money. My parents will never pay for gaming at my age...
