Huge thread, I see where you are getting at however it can be solved a lot easier than a petition of proposal to blizzard. The game will come with a brightness gamma contrast setting just like diablo 2.
For them to change it to what some of us want would be foolish to those who dont want it. You can always take away from color but adding it is much harder.
Don't call me a hypocrite because I am actually one of those who would rather have it dark than ''cartoony'' however going to the options in D3 im sure will have enough customization skills to adjust to your need.
Someone prolly has said what I just said and im not trying to repost just save time with blizzard which could be used for much more important aspects of the game.
So changing the look permanently I promise will not happen to the extent most of us want. However an option menu will be much easier and in just about every game now a days even portable games (ds, PsP)
I am actually a lot more pissed about the annoying fucking Jihad shit they blare during the teaser. I feel like i should be wearing a turban.
Also I think they made the barb way to fucking old looking, cain almost looks in better shape. I for one will be extremely pissed if they have the amazon class and her huge breasts are now rug burners.
Everyone here seems to have forgotten that there's going to be an options menu, there's going to be a graphics menu, everyone can be happy one way or another.
You just paraphrased what the guy above you said:rolleyes:
the stupid ass iraqi bumba rumba humba music during the whole teaser. I understand why they chose that but for the whole damn vid? and what choice of songs to pick, only the most ear bleeding song. Ive heard more soothing Jihad music during a beheading video.
# lack of blood / gore
# enviroment colour
# the lighting
but other than it looks immense
Lack of gore? What are you smoking? Did you see that when the barb hit the zombie, it freaking exploded with the blood everywhere? Or the Thousand Pounder's exploding? lol

I dont think it was iraqi lol. I actually think it was alright. It kinda sounded unique for the new Diablo game. Lol, what kind of music you hoped youd hear???
Ok, this is my first post but I have been reading the forums for quite some time. If i was completely oblivious and had no clue what the artistic style of Diablo 3 was in the gameplay footage, what would you tell me it was like?
This thread actually slowed down for awhile. There wasn't a post for a good hour or maybe even a bit more. Read the last few pages, a lot of people agreed to disagree and a lot of people decided just to wait until we get more footage and screenshots.
I see what you're saying, would you say that the main factor is due to a lot of lighting and illumination, personally I feel that it seems washed down, polished, and rather blurry which causes eye pains unfortunately. Also I have the feeling that they polish it so much and make it too smooth, one possible way to avoid this if wanted would be to have that image earlier posted with the light radius effect, and a slightly grayer scale, but I can understand that many people enjoy the look that is more geared towards WoW.
Okey guys, I have been reading all these threads after the game was announced, I absolutly agree with OP about colors and the set peaces but there are couple of bigger issues.
Now let`s start from beginning why do we think blizzard did this? was it intentional? Are they searching for new gamers? do they want to attract casual gamers? if the answer is yes there is no need the discussion, we all know gaming industry is business driven and if they made this discussion that is the only way to go, secondly if the game is very early stages of development and they are to change the major art-work that is good to hear and thats why we are whining here, but I highly doubt it, anyhow lets get to art itself,
Great thread, great color and tone adgustments I absolutly agree but besides color correction(this could be fixed within couple of clicks on blizzards side) and set peace art there are several major problems:
Problem 1 - Proporsions, to put it simply everything on diablo 3 looks short and everything on diablo 1-2 looks long, why? because of several things, 1 - camera 2 - proporsions of charecters and set peaces(also havily depends on camera) at some parts diablo 1-2 looks out of proporsion, as if its been streached out which is absolutly great since whole goth style is based on that, not to mention most of the charecters are slimmer than they should be in diablo 2-3 anyhow lets look at random images from all the games just the get overall feel,
Just look at the fat bloke on this screenshot, the one that stands on the right side of "flag man" he is fat, he is heavy, he is powerful but still he is tall!!!
Just look at this image, it has everything what original diablos had, look at proportions, look at camera, the mood the feel
Problem 2 - Lighting, to be specific highlights, if you look at original diablos textures and shades even though are 3d like they are very restricted to light which gives it specific style, almost all the elements look like they have been made out of metal, in diablo 3 its all reversed, there are simply too much light points from where highlights are reflected on the elements and characters, it makes them look what everybody loves to say "cartoony" So textures and lighting and interaction between those two has to be re-evaluated, texture and shape sharpness has to be address aswell
The game right now is basically a rehash of some wow models. If you look at the way stairs and banisters are done in WoW and then look at the d2 ones its the same model and skin overtop.
Also for people saying they want dark gothic feel I agree, but diablo 2 wasn't very dark at all.
Lut ghlorin was bright yellow, so was every thing in act2.
You got some good points Nachkebia. Diablo 1 and 2 have more realistic proportions, there are less lightpoints and the structures, characters are a bit taller.

basically it says, the colors help set the mood and lead you in the right direction during gameplay
now please.... stop complaining
what jihad shit?
Fuck you, I'm a dragon.
