FingolfInGR you have made some very good points about the release of D3 SC2 and WoW could be the downfall of why D3 still isn't announced, maybe if WoW would have been less addicting to many players D3 would have had more people put on the project and been released earlier, but just a thought.

I guaranteed the next Diablo game to be at the next BlizzCon last year. I'm sticking to my guess, even though I don't have anything to back it up and I look like an asshat
i do agree of course, Blizzard keeps their games more secret than the CIA their agent lists But there are still some stuff i'm not sure about and i prefer to talk when there are more things in it than (my) assumptions. Blizzard never announced 2 games in the same year so far. Closest announcements i remember were the Frozen Throne (WC 3 expansion) and WoW (correct me if i'm wrong, i'm not 100% sure). And both were relevant in matter Lore. Rumors talked about both Diablo 3, WoW expansion (not that likely, i'd expect it later next year) and Starcraft MMO (still question, i expected Diablo 3 and Diablo MMO before that). Only a few months left to BlizzCon anyway, we'll get to know more (if theres something about an announcement) as time passes.
true, but how many Diablo fans will buy Starcraft 2 when it comes out? Most.
How many would buy it if Diablo 3 would be close to release on Starcraft 2 release? Not many. And there's also WoW to consider. The players are addicted and we wont stop (completely) even if Diablo 3 comes out. And we keep paying every month. I dont think we'd have an easy time buying all titles if they were out at almost the same time (a few months arent much of a difference). Well, most arent so financially strong to pay 50$ for each game anyway.
True true. You have some very good points. Kudos! I'll tell you that I am not a rich person, but I know how to save. I have many savings accounts for emergencies and other things (gas, food, retirement, college, and even video games!). So I will have have SC2 and D3 when they come out.

if the made diablo 3 EXACTLY like diablo 2 , except with a new story,,, say something that began before diablo1 and not what happens after d2... i would start playing all over again for a few years
ya prequels blow no one cares what happened b4 D1 but everyone wants to know what happens after D2 because they left the story wide open and everyone wants more....

Exactly. But hey, I wouldn't mind knowing what happened before the orginal Diablo (like all the chaos and destruction) in a book or a Blizzard made cinematic. Imagine a twenty minute short film all done in CG by Blizzard. That would just be awesome.

Also even though E3 (july 23 i believe corret me if im wrong though) isn't public this year there is going to be a blizzard stand with starcraft 2 on it and a few other undicided games....wonder what they will be?
I believe an announcement at Blizzcon will be more exciting to the fanbase, which would cause much more hype. But min-E3 could be the placeholder for the announcement of the new race in SC2 and a possible WoW expansion until Diablo 3. Or they could just reveal it there. But there are so many oppurtunities for Blizzard to announce D3, who knows what could happen.

For real? Some of the most enticing bits of information in Diablo regard all kinds of things before the first Diablo takes place. You've got the Sin War obviously, the Mage Clan Wars, the founding of the Horadrim. I know not many people feel this way, but I would seriously love a prequel game. However, I'm bias too. Cause I would love any new Diablo game in any time period.
Diablo 3 means more money. Everyone loves more money, especially Blizzard. If they don't want competition to WoW, why would they be releasing Starcraft II? Albeit SC2 is just an RTS. Plus, D3 is a different genre than WoW. WoW is an MMORPG and Diablo is just an RPG.
sc2 is an rts meaning a diffrent fan base (RTS/sc Fans) so its not a direct threat to WoW. mmorpg or rpg, its still competition because of the online play on b.net (if d3 is a b.net title).

I also welcome the addition of a Diablo 0. But I would rather read or watch a movie about it.

True, but you have to realize that there are some people out there who cannot stand MMO's (like me). So if you look at it that way, there is a different fanbase.

Prequels can be off and on. One prequel which was totally off was Perfect Dark Zero. That was really bad. But one which shines is Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I trust Blizzard would make a great prequel, but it isn't needed at the moment with all the books available.
