I'm looking at subbing in Zunimassas's Pox to keep the Zunni set bonus and then add in Swamp Land Waders for +20% Poison damage OR to use Tal Rasha's Relentless Pursuit for the 7% Haste. It seems to me this build would give Dart Docs the highest possible overall damage for the Patch. Stone of Jordan can help with elites 10% more than Swamp Land Waders, however, Swamp Land Waders apply a 20% damage increase to every mob on the map.
i think the latest patch runs hybrid pet/darts build..augilds sets f/r...with zuni smk passive/rrog/jeram with dod mask jeram. either way ill be trying it...witch doc is back in 60+
The 25% res chance + 7% haste by switching from Aughilds is useful, you will put out more overall damage at the expense of focused damage just on the elites. A lot of the elite abilities are being toned down next patch including the ability to cast spells outside of view. Plus add in we can use BBV at will via SMK passive and that rifts will be longer, its got me thinking of ways to increase overall dps including the trash mobs and not just focusing on elites.
If elites had the same abilities now, I'd be thinking differently for 2.3.
I was on PTR earlier messing with similar build but i was using focus and restraint as my rings and that was a big damage boost for me. idk if that will be viable for higher rifts but i do t10 and grift 45ish on PTR
The problem with Focus and Restraint is Convention of the Elements can do more for you damage wise, a lot more 100% Convention of the Elements vs Focus and Restraint 50%:
-Convention of Elements = 200% damage buff for our 4 damage types = physical, cold, poison, fire every 4 seconds.
-Dart build gets a 200% poison buff for 4 seconds and does 0% buff for 12 seconds = 50% damage buff over 16 seconds
-When physical damage is up, you cast your Grasp of the Dead and Pirhana's and let your fetishes do physical damage at 200% buff so now you have 4 seconds of poison 200% + 4 seconds of physical 200% and 8 seconds of 0% buff or 100% damage over 16 seconds
If you have a lower damage bonus convention of the elements, on the PTR when you Kannai cube your Convention of the Elements, it goes to the full 200% damage bonus even if it was a 160% buff.
I think they changed fetishes so that they always do the dmg type of your highest element. At least the spawned ones, maybe not the ones from the activated power.
Convention of the Elements at 200% will give you a 50% bonus over 16 seconds to poison (16 total seconds / 4 seconds of 200% damage = 50% damage over 16 seconds). Focus will give you 50% damage bonus if you have your mana spender up constantly.
Factor in that Fetish Army does physical damage when not shooting, and Fetish Sychophants do damage based on your highest elemental damage type of casting when not shooting and that you need time to reapply piraanhas and grasp of the dead and you do that during the physical phase of convention of elements and you will do more damage than Focus of the Elements can do for you. If you also use Ice Piranhas due to the 8 second cast time, then you are also getting a damage bonus from the cold phase as well.
Even with the cube, you can't use Focus + Restraint w/ Convention of the elements and run a dart build with Carnevil + Mask of Jeram w/ the cube. You will get more than a 50% damage bonus using Convention of the Elements + casting your mana spenders during the physical phase while your fetish army does physical damage than running focus + restraint.
Your fetishes do the elemental type of your highest stacked %, NOT what you cast. You likely have poison on your bracers, which you should since you're using darts, so they will always do poison% regardless if you shoot or not. F+R wins out, easily.
BTW, F+R is a two separate 50% buffs which stack on each other so you get a total of 125% buff (1.5 x 1.5 = 2.25). Convention is at best 50% buff on average.
Legion of Daggers states the Fetishes Army do Physical Damage. Your Fetish Sychophants does damage based on your highest damage type NOT Fetish Army.
When you look at the 55% damage skill you can run with Fetish Army including their physical damage when not shooting darts, then you will get a damage boost using Convention of the Elements over the 50% of Focus and Restraint, closer to a 70% damage increase.
Why do you keep saying F+R is 50%? it's a total of 125% boost. Both sides of F-R will always be up. The skills you use (grasp of the dead, piranhas) to proc zuni set buff also proc the one side of F+R.
The problem with F+R restraint is that they are on a 5 second timer. The only slot you have room for CD is in head socket at 12.5%. You hit Paragon 800 you have full offensive paragon abilities unlocked including the 10% CD reduction, so you are now at 22.5%. Taking Ice Piranhas down to 6.2 seconds. If you use grasp of the dead + death is life + gruesome feast, then your GotD is on 8 seconds as well so you are 6.2 secs there as well. For those two abilities you are going to have problems keeping the procs up. You could run GotD - Desperate Grasp and be at 4.65 seconds and be under the time limit, but you are going to need some form of mana regen going besides health orbs. For me personally, everything on my build is damage, there is no mana increase/mana regen on my gear and just running 2 8 second casts on grift boss will put me out of mana in a few minutes into the fight.
I could see F+R being competitive at 800+ paragon, however it also depends on the other pieces of gear it costs you in its use. You have to put the RRoG as your jewelry slot then. It would preclude you from using the ever elusive perfect Stone of Jordan 30% damage elites + Poison Skills do 20% more damage rings though. Which if you think about it, a Convention of Elements + Stone of Jordan versus F+R what would you want to use? Personally I'm going with Convention of Elements + Jordan for myself.
There's on down time. I run it. Buff is always up, you just cycle between those two abilities. There's a reason all the top wd on the PTR run F+R. If you want to be different for the sake of it or you just prefer it, thats fine but don't claim its more damage.
Mask of Jeram = 100% pet damage, its what throws off a lot of builds for passives on your armor. Even with the Kannai Cube it is really coming down to just a few pieces for the Carnevil Build if at all.

Dancing around a 4 second rotating cooldown is shitty and the furthest thing from fun I can think of.

I have a question
What about using the zunimassa headpiece (having carnevil trough kanais armor passive)
and using FOCUS AND RESTRAINT (with convention of elements in the jewelry kanai slot)
and having the weapon passive slot with either furnace or starmetal
What about the math guys? I believe this might be something as well!
Mask of Jeram = 100% pet damage, its what throws off a lot of builds for passives on your armor. Even with the Kannai Cube it is really coming down to just a few pieces for the Carnevil Build if at all.
flaming each other aside im looking forward to new dod build, havent ran it since vanilla.....good luck all in your testing

I did some research and found that my statement was incorrect, therefore i'm removing.
