I mean, it runs perfectly fine aside from the distorting of the images as seen in the pictures I posted. >.<
I don't think so, man. It seems that the shock from the impact might have just ruined the video card (and maybe some other things in your laptop). The only time I have seen anomalies like that is on my PS3 when it just overheated. There are components that shouldn't be tampered with.
You might have to go without gaming for a while until you can get a new laptop.

Well obviously replaces the video card isn't a bad idea but it could also be any other hardware. Have you tried resinstalling the games? You may have actually corrupted some data by jarring it to hard, hell even popped some stuff loose. Make sure its all securely seated, and try a new graphics card if you want but I'd hate for you to buy one and find out it's just broken all together.
My experience with laptops is that replacing parts is an exercise in futility. Most of mine have died heat-related deaths, but I assume that impact damage is similar. Inside that tiny space there are a ton of parts mashed together. Once one of them goes it appears nearby components feel the need to follow. :/
I must also mention I don't have the faintest hint of tech savvy, so take anything I say with a large dose of salt.
I played Medieval II: Total War last night and tried to learn how to play (tried the two tutorials but didn't have time to finish the second one). I've now got a basic understanding of how the game is supposed to be played, but it will take time and practice to become skilled.
I hope I don't give up on this shit like I did with Shogun 2.
By the way, Total Recall was actually a pretty good movie.
Yesterday I bought the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Collection (Knights of the Old Republic and Knights of the Old Republic II) for $19.99 and Neverwinter Nights Complete (Neverwinter Nights plus all three expansions and Neverwinter Nights 2 plus all three expansions) for $29.99.
I'm going to game the fuck out this month.
Good plan! I had never played KTOR until last year. I had so much fun with it. They did a good job making D and D rules work for Star Wars, and the story is pretty cool too. I couldn't put it down when I was playing it. I had to know how every sidequest came out, and hear every dialog I could (on the light side.) Then i went back through to try playing sith and burnt out on it.
I haven't played the second one though.
Also love Neverwinter Nights. That's maybe the only game I ever cared enough about to min-max. I ended up with this strange monk/dragon disciple/something. Ended up with a very deadly light armored character. Think my favorite charcter was my sorcorer though, even though it was much more difficult.
Graphics keep getting better but some of the old stuff is still more fun.
the video card cant be replast it is a part of the moderbord and replacing that kan gedt expensif the kardt often korst a 1/3 of the laptop
andt if you kant replace it yourself then it often is better just baieng a new pc
His english gets progressively worse. I chuckled when I read this for some reason...
and I understand your woe, I too had an integrated video card

Remember the String of Ears
"to the worm in horseradish, the world is horseradish."
Many modern laptops come with seperate graphics cards anymore. Not most, but many.
Anyway, I'm trying to decide if I want to repair it or replace it with a HP Pavilon g7z-2100 with an AMD Quad Core A10-4600M (3.2GHZ/2.3GHZ with with a 4MB L2 Cache), 1GB AMD Radon HD 7670M graphics card, 8 gb of ddr3 ram, and a 500gb 7200RPM. Sadly, it doesn't come with a 9 cell battery, only 6.
It'll cost me $739.99, but I can do payments until income tax comes around. Thoughts? Suggestions?
Edit: It's an AMD but the processor seems to be the top of the line from AMD.
Edit x2: I can't tell if it's a CPU or an APU, and if it's an APU, I can't tell why there would be both an APU and a graphics card as well..
It's tempting, very tempting, but I also like to play while in bed. :-(
Call me lazy if you want.
Edit: Though I could always just put a monitor and a keyboard/mouse on my bed. Lol. (Yea, I know, really fucking lazy bastard.) And a Desktop would be cheaper...
Edit x2: Though a Desktop requires wires connecting to the router, which is a bitch...
I second this and tbh Link, I was of the same opinion about computing. I went through four laptops before realizing that wireless input devices with a nice monitor > having a glorified griddle sat on my lap with some kind of flimsy fan solution if I even bothered.
Now, i won't go that one step further and say "build your own," because i'm not able to do it either and frankly I think voiding warranties and dealing with repeat shipping is more hassle than paying a couple hundred bucks in premium for someone else to do it and throw their label on the job.
I won't build my own, I'd rather pay someone to do it, that way if they break my shit they have to pay for it. If I break my own shit, well that's no good.
But yeah I wouldn't own a laptop over a desktop and the only reason I'd get a laptop was if I traveled a lot or something. You can get something about twice as powerful and less likely to overheat/drop/easier to upgrade if you go with a desktop.

Yep, I've started my playthrough of Knights of the Old Republic. Thus far it's quite a good game and I'm really enjoying myself. I'm still on Taris. I cleared out the first apartment and checked out the cantina across the street. Tried pazaak (lost every game I played) and dueled in the arena to make some credits. I won my first three fights but ended up losing on my fourth. Then I checked out the medical station and decided I would get the rakghoul cure for Zelka instead of that slimy crime lord. That's where I wrapped it up for the night (ended up chilling with a friend). I can't wait to finally use a lightsaber. That's what I've been building my character towards.
I'm so sick of all you lame people. I'm taking a break from this awful place.
I have a story that might interest you. Not because Its sick like all my others - but because I like your reactions to them.
Ok... So I was on this online dating website (prowling, you might say ) and met a girl. Well, I had been messaging and keeping conversations going with many many people for multiple weeks but nothing came to fruition. Nethertheless I persisted until I found someone compatible and within the accepatble age bracket. She seems fairly average looking and I was attracted to her, I would like to think I'm fairly average looking and able to attract a woman such as herself. Physically compatible it would seem. So anyway... We're messaging eachother and texting eachother and whatnot, rapport is good, communication is good (You may be wondering where this story is going because all my others were too AYE-MORAL) and then we set a movie date and finally met.
Well... Now I'm confused. I've been contemplating if I am infact, as shallow as.... I now think I am? I mean... I know the only pictures I'm going to put on a dating website are going to be the ones that catch my good side... But they are going to actually look like me.
She didn't really look like her pictures at all... I didn't even recognize her for a split second until she looked right at me and said hi.
I mean... I don't even have high standards by any meaning of the word. Now I just feel bad... it was a lose-lose situation.
Anyway. I was affable and everything went smoothly. I didn't try and fondle her in the cinemas or kiss her goodnight though.
le-sigh
P.S - Internet dating sucks. 90% of the messages I get are from gay dudes anyway. Apparently I would be a total stud wiithin the homosexual community.
I've always found relationships that start on the internet scary for a variety of reasons. First, you never know for sure someone is at all like their dialog implies. A lot of extremely creepy people will pass tehmselves off as somewhat normal. And a lot of bastards will try to pass themselves off as nice. You have to really read between the lines and take nothing for granted. Ussually I can pick up on fake niceness covering up bastardly intent. But I did have a Canadian Emglish professor fool me once. He knew exactly how to balance at almost too good to be true, and make it believable.
The other thing I hate is the photo part. What happened to your date was always what I worried would happen to me. If I got complimented too much, I started getting paranoid that I hadn't been fair with photo selections, and I felt like I was misrepresenting. It usually lead to me sending progressively less flattering photos, with disclaimers. And until I met someone in person I lived in fear of the moment our eyes would meet. Was always afraid that as soon as our eyes met, I would see disapointment.

@Link I think laptops are worth it for the portability. I like knowing I can game and compute outside, in bed, or wherever. The cost per performance versus a desktop makes it tempting to switch up. The last time I bought a computer I switched from a 13 inch Mac Book Pro to a 17 inch Alienware M17. It's back braking to carry, but worth it when I'm in a gaming mood.
@GenMakB I started taking melee related skills for lightsaber right away too. I wanted to do Jedi Consular, and then balance between crowd control and weapon finesse based double bladed lightsaber work. It turned out pretty good in the end, but the stat and feat choices I took made things difficult for me before I got that first lightsaber and started learning Jedi skills.
Pazaak gets a lot easier when you have enough cards. Every planet has at least one merchant with some interesting stuff you can put in your deck, and it gets fairly easy as long as you have the right cards.
My friend tried internet dating once and she said it was worse than high school. So many people were judgmental just over a photograph. There's more to a person than just looks. Beauty will fade, and then what will you have when you're older?

Also I know a lot of lazy people like you who just have their desks right next to their bed. They make it work.
I think I'm going to go with the laptop. It's a good quad core laptop, and it's not too expensive.
I just gotta figure out what it'll cost per month. (I plan on paying monthly until my tax returns roll around then paying the rest of it off. :P)
