Well Kamrad, they still have time to make Windows 7 better, and it's going to be more backwards compatible... compatable... whatever, than Vista. You should thank your lucky stars they're doing it at all. Most OS don't do it but for the tiniest bit. My overlord got the beta, and he says that just in beta it's already beat out Vista for him. He's got it on all his home computers. Wish I could try it, Vista made me angry D:<

I know it's backwards compatible, but even then most of my XP programmes don't run. XP is better because you are garanteed for all your programmes to run.
I'll get Windows 7 when it comes out just cause I'm getting it for free. I guess I don't care that much about what OS I have as long as I never have to use Windows ME again. That was a nightmare.
MS does a marketing move when it begins development of two versions of something at once, for instance, Win ME, and Win XP (or NT? Not sure). The first one comes out first, and it has less stuff, serves as a hidden test of whatever they're going to release next. The second one is the real thing and what MS really cares about. This happened with DirectX 4 and 5, 4 was intermediate 5 was the final thing. Same with ME and XP. And same with Vista and Win7. Doesn't it seem suspicious that they make another OS right after releasing Vista?
I do remember how ME was just kind of the thing to come out until they could get XP out. My friend told me all about it once and said that was why ME was so awful. I guess I didn't realize Vista was the intermediate anyway.
I plan on picking up Win 7 when I build a new PC this winter. I don't really have the need or the patience to set up a linux system. From what I've gathered from a friend who works for MS (Quality assurance dept, not dev) is that 7 supposedly is closer to a "Ground up" build than any other recent OS release. As evidenced here and from what he's said, they've also cut out a lot of the useless frills that plagued Vista.
I've messed around with Visa on other people's rigs, and my god is that a system hog. I've seen it consume about 700 megs of RAM just in self-maintenance. My XP uses somewhere around 100 with no additional software running. I know that you can "Shell out" vista and manually turn off a slew of useless features to decrease mem usage, but thats obviously not an ideal trait in an OS. I like things that work out of the box, so thats what i'm hoping I'll get with 7. If not, my friend is going to have a fun time answering his phone for a while
I will be rebuilding my new PC after a few games have announced there specs. Not very worried about Diablo III, but I would like to know on the high end, where the ceiling is for Diablo III's graphics and capabilities.
Windows 7 is a beast. It is not going to be the next XP, it is going to be better. Windows basically used Vista as one massive beta test and corrected almost everything. It runs so smooth and the new choice to customize your security features is a huge plus.
Also, Windows 7 has the ability to run applications (including games) in a remote style environment using different operating systems.
the only reason i hate vista is i heard it had to many problems with it. and thats why i stick with xp. but i hear very very good things about windows 7.
I would personally avoid Vista like the plague and wait until 7 is complete! I still use XP and I won't upgrade to 7 for another year or so(Hopefully enough time to make it good as XP has been throughout the years).

Great...
I thought people that work for major companies e.g. Blizzard, MS, and all aren't allowed to tell people that they work for them?

And yes, Windows 7 will work well out of the box!
macbook pro + bootcamp + windows7 = 1 hour battery life
Doubt it. It's awfully similar to Vista, and those who liked Vista will enjoy the improvements, but the haters will hate.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

it is because you have a mac, not because of win7
