Seeing as how Blizzard finally announced Paypal as the third party payment provider for the Auction House, we're curious to see what everyone thinks about that... At first, during the press event, Blizzard was hesitant to name any names because things weren't finalized just yet.
It was expected.
Psyched!
I hate Paypal.
Doesn't bother me any.
Who cares?
In our previous poll, we wanted to know what type of content you guys wanted us to pump out throughout the course of the Beta. Seems like most of you want to see commentaries and play experiences... Duly noted, :).
The AH was recently added to the Beta and we're starting to get into the Beta state of mind here, with patches and cool new features, :). If you missed the twenty-fifth episode, you can check it out here. Otherwise, the twenty-sixth episode covered the following topics:
Poll is stupid. "It was expected." can also be followed by any other the options. The last 4 are your pos/neg attitude to the merger, and the first was if it was what you expected.
Just change the first option to another emotion option. Of course this was expected...Paypal was the only realisitic option. Everyone and their toilet paper knew it was PayPal. They just couldn't officially say anything until every i was dotted and t was crossed.

I like the who cares option cause guess what... who cares. Does it affect you? only if you cash out and either way if it wasn't pay pal someone else who have performed the same function for you.

Playing Diablo since 97. I know nothing and having nothing good to say, I be a troll.
As far as third-party payment organizations, Paypal is certainly the most expected. The biggest draw is the fact that they are immense as far as their influence in the online world. Paypal is, effectively, the way to go for online payment of anything. It's fast, easy, and just about anyone who does anything online does so with Paypal, as mentioned.
A smaller note, and one that deals with more shady topics, is that Paypal worked with Blizzard in dealing with many of the RMT organizations (gold-sellers in general terms). That said, it comes to no surprise that these two have been working alongside each other for the good part of the year, and Paypal looks to be the most reliable outlet as far as a safety net away from these RMT businesses when it comes to Diablo 3. Obviously, RMT is going to be an issue with Diablo 3, but, hopefully, this partnership will help diminish, if not destroy, the effect that the business will have on the game.
Here's hoping.
Beyond all that, I'm anxious to see the Demon Hunter revisions. I kind of liked the dual-resource system, and hope it remains to some effect.
Stash viewing feature:
I saw a stream where someone was fiddling with the stash "view as" option and it changed the armor to appear as it would for the class displayed and I believe the gender of the current class. Although he was male so it may just be the male version shown.

If that made sense to you, Bravo! I think I even confused myself...

Although PayPal is certainly one of the most popular online payment method, it is also one of the most hacked. Something that garners large attention also brings negative attention. Already tons of people who play Blizzard games get their game accounts hacked...imagine what people will do when gamers have invested serious amounts of money into their D3 stuff only to have that account stolen, then their PayPal information is right there.
I believe there are more secure options to choose, although less well-known. Because of the sheer volume of people that play Blizzard games, I'm sure it's not an easy choice for them either. Becoming a partner of Blizzard is a big thing for any company I think. Choosing a lesser-known company could have been a really smart move to get them off the ground and really become popular.
There's a reason the d3ffbeta stream is the best one - he talks during it. People like to know what the person is thinking and what they're experiencing during it, and it's even better if it's live and you can interact with the person.

While I agree that such a situation could garner the unwanted attention of hackers, the security of one's own account generally rests on the shoulder of the consumer, not the business. It's rare that the lack security of companies becomes the reason for account information being compromised (though Sony's foulout is a glaring reminder that it happens). Plus, if people get a hold of one's Paypal information, Diablo 3 is the last thing one has to worry about.

I merely mention the thought that PayPal accounts are notorious for being "easy" to hack into. Through various online vendors, eBay, phishing, etc, account login information can be stolen. I agree with you in that if you were to hack someone's paypal, you wouldn't give 2 cents about their D3 information. I am just dissapointed that Blizzard chose to go with PayPal for this RMAH having to know about the possible issues in security potential.
If the decision were mine, I would use a different company like Dwolla, who although smaller, is more intense in their security, options and customer service to be able to compete with online payment/banking systems like PayPal

They are going to give all the beta accounts the "blizzard bucks" to buy and sell on the RMAH, and wipe it after.
