They changed the orbs into a ring with three sections. It looks pretty badass.
Praise Bhaal for that!!

He's right SFJake, they did actually change it to that.
And I'm pretty sure that the one Turmobil mentioned is the one that it's in.
There are also some screenshots about it, will be much faster if you're not down with the vids.

This sounds all well and good but I wonder how it will all work out for pvp like im just curious, correct me if im wrong but from what I gather the barb starts of 'slowly', builds rage as he takes dmg / deals dmg and gets 'stronger'. In pvp wouldn't this put him at a sort of disadvantge from the get go, because he'll be starting off slow and won't be able to deal big dmg straight up and knowing how geared up pvp players are before you know it after 1-2 hits he will be dead. Sure you can all say "blah blah blizzard will have a solution, it's blizz afterall etc etc" but idk I just sort of get this little feeling that they are leaving pvp out in the dark atm. (edit: plus i remember reading this really old old interview with jay saying how he didn't like pvp in d2 because he got owned alot lol)
ps have blizz announced anything in regards to like fcr, fhr, fr/w, ias, block rates n whatnot? to me this was the best part of d2, just building insane pvpers that had insane fcr, fhr, life, dmg etc.

I'm not saying he's lying.
I'm saying I suck immensely at having absolutely any idea where to find this. I have no idea where I can find any videos or even screenshots about this. Lots of stuff about the event, lots about the Monk and Monk gameplay, and a lots of stuff, but I have no idea where to look.
Gotta say that on the surface, I don't care for this. Making every character's "mana" work a little differently is just creeping complexity for its own sake. By tinkering with something that already works fine, for no other goal that I can see but a minimal addition of flavor, there's a ton of potential for epic fail and hardly any upside.
Have you even read Bashioks comments on this desicion?
I believe I did. Maybe there's something I missed you can point me to?

Something I can clarify here: I did read the stuff about designing resources differently to make different classes play differently, and the stuff about how all melee worked the same and all casters worked the same in D2. It just doesn't ring true to me at all.
The selection of skills available to each class makes them play very differently. If the skills are designed at all well in D3 the same will be true, and the whole notion that different types of "mana" are a good idea to differentiate blows out of the water. It just becomes unnecessary complexity.

And so does different energy source? No matter the skills, when you look at the Barbarian's Fury, and then you look at your standard Mana, you just can't miss the obvious, huge difference in gameplay, even if the 2 characters had the exact same skills otherwise.
Just give me a direct link and say you are right, or don't and its just a rumor. I'm not supposed to search something all over the place to prove -you- right.
Adding all these new energy systems will probably take some time what with balancing and all, i just really hope it doesnt make the game take even longer to release.

hey also another question, in d2 people could make singer barbs (heh) that were caster barbs. so im guessing now with this new fury system all barbs have to be melee now? or am I missing how fury works, and fury can potentially work with like casted attacks too?
.... I actually have to take his (SFJake's) side on this one.
It's your point, so you should be proving yourself right, not leaving it up to the person you're arguing against to prove you right, thus proving himself wrong.
But anyways...
Thats the new fury graphics for barbarians, so yes... it does exist. Not a rumor.

You have no idea how much pain it took me to dig that shit up, my right arm is severely fucked up right now. My muscles are twitching and my nerves hurt like hell.
//peace out.
*Much* appreciated.
You have to understand that its your role to find the proof when you claim something. People don't always ask, but for more obscure or less known things, some do, and I remember that this was actually some kind of forum rule, but I didn't find it.
I don't care generally, because I can find it on my own, but I really couldn't find that one, and in the end, I thought you could just be lying. I hope you understand.

Can you shed more light as to how a gameplay improvement triggers a 'potential for epic fail'? The differentiated energy sources for each character ensures a higher degree of replayability, even better than Diablo 2. This is a blatant proof that Blizzard have learnt from their past mistakes and are working towards delivering the best game in the Diablo franchise.

Oi, chill the fanboy heat. This subject just ain't worth that kind of stress.
Simple fact: if you take one simple system, and then replace it with four or five brand new and probably a bit more complex ones, you're creating a headache of balancing for yourself. It's just a whole hell of a lot more work on a pretty minor part of the game. I'm not excited about how I'm going to manage my mana. I'd rather see that large extra amount of work spent on spells, monsters, locations, story, etc.

We'll let the Diablo development team worry about the balancing and I'm confident they are aware of priorities during the game development phase. Your initial reaction (or shall I say over-reaction) that a minor game improvement leads to an 'epic fail' was uncalled for.
you know after they made improvements to fury and its now circle i really love the resource system now but 3 classes use mana so far and 1 uses something else which is fury i think they should make some range/javelin spear user and that the class has like energy like rogues on WoW or something but not yellow lol maybe what the barb was using on first gameplay vid...and badger really stfu after that post makes me feel like you dont deserve to talk about diablo without resource system it would start to get boring as hell just owning everything from spaming one thing

Link? I have yet to see a single one about that, but you keep mentioning it. I don't want to surf all the blizzcon videos just to find that.
