Mordwythe took in the social exchanges transpiring all about him, the various Knights about their routines and usual casual chatter, excited now at the prospect of progress, and Kira at the side of the horses with Buliwyf, talking just quite enough that Mordwythe could not overhear.
"Senseless prattle, the lot of it," he both spat and whispered to himself as he stowed Elemental Planar Theory in his traveling sack. "A waste of time."
Notwithstanding, he was ready and eager to go by the hour's end at the dawn of the new day.
"My story is a simple one, unlike you or your brother, I have not had many adventures."
"Well that is something we shall have to remedy."Buliwyf quipped. "I fear my parents are not happy about my decision but hopefully they take to heart that I am helping those in need."
"I have no doubt they will be proud of what you acomplish." said Buliwyf.

Kira thought about this and replied, "I really hope they are."
Kira then asks, "What about you, was your life always this exciting?"
She starts helping to load up the other horses while listening to Buliwyf.

"What about you, was your life always this exciting?"
"No. My brother and I grew up in Westmarch." Buliwyf replied. " though we were naught but the sons of a farmer, we knew a life on milling and tilling, was not what we wanted. Hearing the tales of the Knights of Westmarch, that noble order of Paladins, we knew what we wanted to do in life. As Jamis and I are not of noble birth, we could not join the Knights of Westmarch, so we formed our own order so to speak. Come let us no longer dawdle. The Riddia outpost should not be much further. We shall have to continue this conversation at a later date."
Buliwyf signalled to the group to quicken their pace.

As they crowned the next heath, the wooden towers of the Riddian outpost became visible. Buliwyf raised his hand in a fist, motioning to everyone to stop moving.
"We move on foot from here." Buliwyf said. "Steel yourselves. we must end this quickly."
Buliwyf motioned for everyone to move forward.
"Leave none alive! No quarter!"

Kira dismounts from her horse, secures him to a tree and gives him a carrot to eat. She casts out to see if any enemies are near and determines none are in her cast range.
"I have cast out to Illuminate any enemies nearby, none are present, although I have to admit my range is small."
The small group starts out for the tower. Kira pulls out her short sword from her back and places it in side holder that easier to access if she needs it. She remembers Buti being able to make her weapon appear and disappear at her will. I am going to have to ask her about that, maybe it is something I can learn, she thinks to herself.

Kifu sat in the bushes in front of the gate being sure to not be seen yet. He sat there quietly, well at least as quiet as Kifu could be. Had someone walked by they would have heard snickering bushes.
Kifu looked around at the flags and standards he and the others made.
"Perhaps I can raise some brain dead zombies to help carry all of this" Kifu thought to himself. He looked over at Lento and the others, eagerly awaiting their chance to join the battle.
"I hope everything is going well for the others." Kifu whispered to the others.

Viktor got off of his horse and tied it to a tree. He walked over towards Kira and Buliwyf. Viktor pulls the crossbow from its holster on his back. He checks it to make sure everything looks like it is working. With not quiver to hold any bolts Viktor relied on his faith to create ethereal heavenly arrows instead those simple wood and metal ones. He approached closer to Buliwyf.
"I am ready on your command" Viktor tells him quietly.
"Quickly enter the outpost and take out those guards" he shouted as they moved forward. "Kira! Take out that guard in the tower!"

Kira takes aim and fires at the guard. Her aim was true, and he falls.
"Got him."
She sees another guard run towards the fallen one and fires off another arrow at him, piercing him through the side.
"Got another too."
"Viktor, over there." She points to another guard.

"Quickly enter the outpost and take out those guards"
Viktor pulls his mace from its holster on his back. Without any sound Viktor runs into the outpost and quickly smashes one of the guards in his skull. The other guard turned around seeing his fallen partner. Just as the guards mouth opened to announce an attack, Viktor shoved his mace into the soldiers gut, silencing him before a word could be spoken. Viktor then drove his mace into the man's head ending any chance of an alarm. Viktor exits the outpost in full uniform from one of the guards.
"Viktor, over there." Kira whispers to Viktor.
Viktor turns to his side and pulls out his crossbow within half a second. As Viktor takes aim for his shot, a golden light emerges with an arrow should be. Viktor pulls the trigger of his crossbow and the arrow shaped golden beam of light fires from the crossbow. The streak of light shoots through the air and strikes a guard right through his chest.
Buliwyf headed for the centre of the outpost, towards the small, but grand tent that occupied much of the interior. Hearing the commotion outside it's occupant made his way outside. Buliwyf held his claymore out in front of him, it's blade chipped and dulled from countless battles. It's usefulness would be all but void if not for it's size.
"Foolish youngster. Look at that sword, it is bigger than you." cackled the superior officers of the outpost. "You make this all most too easy."
"If I am fated to die this day it will not be at the hands of Riddian scum like you." taunted Buliwyf.
"WHAT WAS THAT BOY!!!" cried the Riddian officer.
"You heard me." Buliwyf said baitingly. "I will not die to scum."
"You leave me no choice, so be it." the officer called back. "If death is what you seek, then I shall grant it.
The officer's sword was smaller and much lighter than Buliwyf's claymore. His larger sword made it harder for him to parry the quick movements of the officer's rapier. It pierced through his the links in Buliwyf's chainmail armor. Buliwyf swung wide with his sword leaving much of his torso exposed, presenting the officer with an easy target. Dodging a direct thrust forward from the officer, Buliwyf lunged with sword.
"Die mongrel!" Buliwyf shouted as his claymore stabbed through a Riddian soldier's rib cage with easy.
"Over there! They are making a break for it!"
Buliwyf motioned to Kifu and the others to chase after them.

Kira looks to where Buliwyf is pointing notches her bow and fires, hitting one soldier through his back, the arrow piercing all the way through, he falls gurgling blood. She runs up a bit more, Viktor is ahead of her and to her left, she sees one man that was hiding break his cover. She notches another arrow and lets it fly. It pierces his right eye as he turns to look at the distance between us, he falls flat on his back. She yanks her arrows out of both bodies, both making squelching sounds as they leave the flesh. Blood dripping from the heads, she shakes them and wipes them on the soldier with the missing eye. She picks up the eye and wraps it to give to the witch doctor, he would like this, she thinks to herself.
She looks up to see another charging her and she realizes she won't have time to notch an arrow. She draws her short sword hoping she will be in time.

Jamis lay off some distance from the fight, sweat pouring over his brow and pooling on his eyes. His breaths were short and ragged and with each movement he whimpered.
"He's not going to make it," said the surgeon from Thasos to the Knight's field medic.
"Are you sure?"
"I am. The wound is bad and he has a fever. In addition to that, his guts've been torn to shreds. I can't imagine a man surviving the initial wound, let alone the following sickness. I have seen this too many times before. He's doomed."
"Surely we can do something!"
"We can give him medicines to dull the pain, put him to sleep, let him die in peace rather than in agony. Beyond that, nothing."
There was a pause.
"I will tell him."
"He cannot hear you. I've seen that look before. His body remains here but his mind has long since passed beyond our realm. He is now between our mortal plane and the next - whatever that may be."
"But.. He has spoken."
"His mouth babbles."
Another pause.
"I will gather the medicine that will make him sleep."
"I wish I could do more."
"You've done all you can do. Better that you turn your attention to the others now."
"I am sorry. Were you two close?"
The medic thought for a moment, then responded with a morbid chuckle.
"No. Brothers in steel only. I barely knew the man."
The surgeon simply nodded. The two men looked at eachother for a minute, sharing mixed sentiments without unnecessary speaking. Then, without another word, they turned and headed for their respective duties.
Jamis lay still in the cot, his breaths growing shallower by the minute.
Ignis heard a deafening battle cry behind him, and spun around to witness Donsro pulp the skull of a Riddian soldier.
"Watch out!!" Yelled Ignis as another soldier crept up behind Donsro. Acting on instinct alone, he jerked his left and right arms towards the soldier, and loosed both knives he kept strapped to his forearms. They streaked towards their mark, one hitting the man in the eye, the other burying itself in his chest. The man let loose a howl, and toppled backwards.
"Shit, how did they find us out in the woods? Was it a patrol?" Said Ignis as he looked around frantically, wondering if their operation had been compromised.
"We can only hope our brothers in the outpost are having better luck, without their success, we'll be dead men." Said Ignis with a somber tone, wondering if this hadn't been such a noble idea after all. He quickly snapped himself out of his wondering state, and set his mind back to watching for more patrols.
"Somebody keep an eye out for our signal, I'll watch for more patrols." Stated Ignis to no one in particular, hoping that somebody was still watching for their signal to charge the gates.

As the group began cleaning up the last few Riddian rabble, Buliwyf sat in the wooden chair of the officer for a moment to rest. In his mind he ran his plan over and over.
As he pondered the battle to come Lento approached him.
"What do we do now?" asked Lento.
"Burn it." Buliwyf replied. "Gather up as many of the Riddian's clothes as you can. The head for the river."

Kira was grazed by the sword her oncoming attacker had drawn, but she landed a killing blow with her short sword to his chest. She looked around and her group had dispatched all the enemy. She starts gathering the clothing up to help the rest of our party with disguises.
