I use a backpack to carry my school supplies, and recently I was forced into running from school to home because my mother cannot get her driver's license. The backpack I am using right now (SwissGear) sucks. No matter what I try to do with it, it wobbles around and bounces on my back when I run. I also don't find it to feel right when I wear it, and if I load it with a lot of books and walk with it for some while, my shoulders get seriously achy and my back hurts.
I wonder if anyone here knows brands that make hiking or office backpacks, or whatever, that are good on the back and appropriate for school (not too large, has divisors). The typical hiking backpack obviously doesn't work since I don't like to throw all my supplies in my pile, I end up with some mangled pages and pieces of paper that flew out...
Hmm, seems to have some really good reviews. I like the idea of the shoe sleeve, too. Thanks, I'll see if I can find one of those somewhere. Any idea which real stores may have it?

I'm not sure what retail stores are in around down there ... but ... any sporting goods store should have them.
I reccomend you take a look in person at anything you buy, so that you can tell for yourself if it is the right size, and has the features and design that you desire.

That's why I am looking for stores, as well.

Thanks for helping, unless someone wants to add anything.
Can you tell me what does "Varsity Backpack" mean?
Varsity usually pertains to a school's athletic squad. The word, itself, is derivation of "university", so it may be Under Armor's model of backpack designed for school use.
(that's just a guess)
I own two Under Armor packs (a streaker sling and a small duffel bag) that I bought at Dick's, here in Charleston. They're pretty good quality.
I really don't have that many books. Most of my books are always at home, especially for AP classes that expect you to read the books on your own. The only book I carry all the time is the pre-calculus book, because I often do math during school, but sometimes I need to do some of it at home. I also carry a binder for the same subject. That's it. I used to carry about 3 books but then I decided to give my back a break. My backpack is not that heavy for the most part, it's just a crappy backpack.
Its cool, He owned me in Super Smash Bro's Brawl on Wii. Haha, Though i dont play nearly as much as i would like to.
Anyways Equinox i have a Clive backpack and its got the snowboard straps on it but i use it when i ride my street bike every day back and forth to work to carry my laptop in. Its very sturdy and does not hurt my shoulders at all with nice padding and much storage room
I've had the same Mountainsmith backpack for maybe four years. The straps are nice and comfy and the part that rests against your back is even padded. It has things to hook around your tummy and chest if you decide to use it for hiking and want to run a lot without the bag moving around a lot. But it's also quite practical and sturdy for just carrying books around. Lots of pockets, but not too many pockets that it's annoying.
