So, my friend Junction3 has coerced me into buying cata and playing again. It has been a long time since I played (about 1 month after WotLK) and am unsure what class to play. I know for sure that I want to be a Worgen (were playing alliance). So my options are limited to this race. I also end up soloing a lot since my play times are usually pretty scattered and scarce. However, I understand the dungeon finder is pretty nifty and helpful for that. I am not too big into PvP and prefer PvE more. I also like classes that have pretty big changes at incrementing levels so I have some goal to achieve and strive for while leveling. For example, getting shadow form on a priest. I have no other real preference right now. I really am just trying to get a fresh start with a class I am interested in. The only class I know I do not want to play is a priest cause that was my main before quitting and I don't want to play DK because I want to start at the beginning with all of the changes.
Any suggestions, ideas, tips, hints, opinions, knowledge, or anything else would be great.
Also, we are playing on Bleeding Hollow if anyone else is or looking for a server to play on.

Since you're alliance ( )...I refuse to help!
Only kidding! I play the druid as my main character but the hunter has been growing on me. I also have a lvl 80 shaman and lvl 80 DK. (I have been playing since vanilla)
Ask me some questions and I will do my best to answer them.
-Warrior: nice, 2 role class, became somewhat harder, though with recent changes even though it's still ok to dps. tanking is relatively hard now. - a little expensive to level in terms of gear and repairs. also very gear dependent to be effective.
-Mage: one of the classes with the least downtime. pure dps, with variety in leveling depending on spec. one of the classes i'd suggest to start with.
-Priest: healer/dps class. as a healer you get in dungeons almost instantly and that's always nice. pretty decent in dps while soloing too.
-Hunter: THE easiest to level but can end up boring since in most cases your pet can do all the job with you supporting it from the range.
-Warlock: interesting dark caster. good dps no matter what spec, affliction or demonology make sure there's like no downtime at all either. -suggested
-Druid: does everything really (spell dps, healing, tanking, melee dps). very good utility class, i'm going to make a worgen druid myself after i level my mage to 85.
-Rogue: sneaky son of a *****. dps, you'll love it if you like to play with positioning.
-Death Knight: one of those i wouldn't suggest. while it's a very strong class (hero class even) you start at lvl 55 (not allowed to make one unless you have a character at 55 or higher either). You'd miss all the worgen starting area quests which would be a shame considering Blizzard made an awesome job with the old world leveling.
I played a warrior until about a year ago, and I can tell you that they are pretty damn hard to level, as you have to constantly take damage, and it takes a while to gear up to a point where you're effective. That being said, its a pretty awesome class to play once you get that gear. Its always fun to charge in and mess stuff up. The only other problem is that if you stop playing for a bit when youre at the max level, you fall behind in gear, and the penalty for that ends up being worse than other classes. So for having as your first class I wouldn't really suggest it.
Thanks for all of the help so far guys. Right now, I'm leaning towards Mage, Druid , or warlock.
The warrior is out cause I just don't have the tome to get the gear. Rogue just seems boring. Pet classes are usually my favorite but the hunter always became boring with the pet just doing too much.
Mage - never really liked casters but is oddly tempting me. Don't know anything about any of their specs.
Druid - love versatility. How easily can you switch roles despite spec? Healing dps tank
Lock - possibly demonology as a pet class. How well do they fillthat role?

-Arcane: has the easiest spell rotations so far good nice burst damage.
-Fire: you get to blow things up, nuff said
-Frost: has a Water Elemental as a pet that lasts until died or dismissed. Best defenses (Ice Barrier) and very very high damage on frozen targets (the elemental also freezes stuff). Also the best spec for PvP.

you need different sets of gear for each spec as every spec takes advantage of different stats (say strength, stamina, armor for tank, intellect, spirit for healer etc)
Lock - possibly demonology as a pet class. How well do they fillthat role?
Warlocks always have a pet around:
-Destruction warlocks benefit most from Imps (they make some high damage abilities instant on occasion).
-Affliction warlocks don't really need anything, but i usually had a felhound for extra mana. they just curse enemies, drain their life and let them to rot.
-Demonologists are the only ones that can use the Felguard demon. A pretty strong melee demon (that thing hits like a warrior). They also have a demon form for like 20 sec that increased spell damage done, armor and gives 2 unique abilities. Demonology is easymode leveling.

Mage: Basically what FingolfinGR said. Fire is awesome!
Druid: You will need a diffrent set of gear for each spec, with cata coming out though, collecting gear through dungeons wont be too difficult. I am a dps caster/healer(dual spec) on my druid at the moment, a few months ago I was a tank/healer, and few months before that I was a melee dps/healer(I dont even like healing :wallbash: )
Warlock: Warlocks do decent dps in all specs. Demonology is my personal favorite and leveling is a breeze.
