Ok so I went to the Web Archives for blizzard.com, and I found the fanart section on page 31 I found that the ? there is no image in the archives for. In other words I think blizzard placed some of the ?'s in the fan art to mess with us.
I like how everyone is talking about how these rune symbols could be from Frostmourne, as if Frostmourne came first.
Is everyone forgetting that Diablo2's rune system FAR predates Frostmourne? If anything Blizzard recyled runes from Diablo2 for Frostmourne, not the other way around.
Just like oh I don't know.. socketing items in WoW? Gee, where did that come from? OH YEA! D2: LoD!
This could be a trick. The first rune was to make us debate over Frostmourne/Shael, and the second is a spot on Hel but it makes us think of the anniversary teaser thing they did with Starcraft 2 when it was announced. If tomorrow we get another "very last tiny detail spot on rune" like the perfect Hel Rune, we can be pretty sure the first is supposed to be a Shael and it's a Diablo game most likely.

www.nerdyblog.com - Great website and great Diablo III streams and Skype chat!
Diablo 3 is graphically and artistically great, there needs to be variety in the game, instead of only plain and dark areas!
+Wouldn't it be better and more interesting if from a sunny beautiful day, mist starts covering the screen, rain starts falling, thunders and lightning striking and it starts to darken, instead of constant dark!?
I've seen this other places but haven't seen this mentioned here:
The rune from the splash isn't on this one...
This could mean that the runes on Frostmourne aren't really "official" and its just a coincidence that it happens to look like nef/sheal which are an established part of Diablo
The rune is from this sword? also see bottom right corner "licensed Blizzard product"
There is no way the teaser has anything to do with SC on any level. Done end of topic. Can anyone find a screen shots from summoning diablo in D2, see if there are any runes or symbols on there. The Teaser is clearly forming a pentagram.

They couldnt replicate the sword pixel for pixel. It has a designer - i forget his name. *shrug*

The rune does look Nefish when turned on the side but it has a very small tail near the bottom that Nef lacks, so, it doesn't exactly fit.
The first rune, was, as said, a trick, to make us thing WotLK, the second was completely precise. I'm going to check out the Starcraft/Warcraft forums to see what they think. The new teaser has been up for some time, so, they should have some comments.

As much as I want this to be Diablo III and I want that to be a Shael rune on the left - though undoubtedly that is a Hel Rune... my concern comes with this image:
Behold the top rune on the Lich King's Sword. The left rune looks far more like that than a Shael. I believe Blizz may just be recycling rune symbols to get our hopes up.
Again, for people that don't bother reading the thread.

It looks different at first, BUT that animated gif proves it!

The first part is the right shoulder, the other is the left hand.
It looks like we might not be disappointed after all!!!
Woot!

That other one is ART. The replica sword is official and it doesn't have that left rune...

Since the 1.10 patch all Diablo art has been done in the cartoon style.

So there is hope.
It's the decisions you make when you have no time to make them that define who you are.

Zoom in on the splash all the way; quite reminiscent of the world stone.
