Hello to all you Diablo fans. I'm sure most of you are disappointed and downright depressed about the absence of Diablo at this weekend's BlizzCon. I'm sure it's hard to realize there can't possibly be a cure to this seemingly life-threatening illness. But in fact there is.
There are multiple cures, for multiple patients. Some will vary on others, most will work. Some may have side effects, while some will benefit. Here are the cures you should know about.
Cure #1: Take a moment to sit down and think, and think along these lines: "Man, Diablo wasn't at this BlizzCon either! That makes two in a row!" Now think about what that means to Blizzard Entertainment. They are well aware they have omitted Diablo from these past BlizzCons, minus the Tristram theme song. You know what they have to do now? You guessed it:
They need to make up for it. And mark my words, they will.
The next BlizzCon or large gaming event will probably feature Diablo III. It's downright inevitable. StarCraft II is announced, that won't be out for over a year, WoW's newest expansion won't make it out for about 8 months, so that leaves a huge gap of nothingness for Blizzard to toy with. Just think this way: There are at least two large gaming events left this year: Leipzig Game Convention in late August, and E for All Expo in late October.
The E for All Expo is to replace the E3 event that, until this year, was considered a huge spotlight for games. Blizzard announced many games at E3 in the past, including Diablo II. The event is four days long. It may not house the official annoucement, but expect some feedback from the developers at Blizzard about "Team 3". GC (Leipzig Game Convention) is also four days long, and very large as well. Blizzard (I assume) will be attending both these events. Expect more rumors of "Team 3" to surface there as well.
My prediction: The GC later this month will unveil the Zerg for StarCraft II, along with more information on WoW: WotLK. E for All Expo will be the start of (if not the unveiling of) Diablo III's existence. Reminder - the GC is in October - the same month the final Sin War book is released.
Cure #2: Revitalize yourself. Get that "I can wait" mindset you had before BlizzCon. This is the hardest cure to achieve, but it can be done. The longer the game waits, the better it can only get. Sure, the Convention was totally biased, but BlizzCons of the future will be home to Diablo someday. World of Warcraft will eventually run its course. I can honestly only see one more expansion after Wrath of the Lich King being announced. The expansions become worthless to casual gamers as things get more difficult and require more gaming time and devotion. Hell, there are many complaints already.
But for those that say WoW is dying, you are wrong. Just a few weeks ago, Blizzard announced the game has 9 million active subscribers. That's quite an achievement, and having that kind of fanbase should enthuse Diablo fans, and you're probably wondering why I say this.
The reason why I say this, is because if Blizzard decides to churn out Diablo III, WoW will still have millions of subscribers that are loyal to the game. Diablo III would take some fans away, true, but when WoW remains a multimillion-dollar-a-year game, Blizzard won't complain. Diablo III itself would be a multimillion (if not close to a billion) dollar game. Trust me, you can all wait.
Cure #3: Take your anger out someplace harmless. E-mailing Blizzard telling them, "OMFG YOU NOOBS DON'T KNOW WTF WE WANT... LAWL YOU PLAYED TRISTRAM BUT NO DIABLO WAS THERE GEE GEE BLIZZFUCKS", that doesn't really fix anything. That is more or less of a complaint, something I admit to have done a fair share of myself. Blizzard won't respond to a complaint like that. You want them to listen, send something like this, "I really enjoyed the events that took place at BlizzCon this weekend. I was looking forward to seeing some Diablo, but I'll wait until next time." A message like that, will keep Blizzard a lot less frustrated and careless, and make them more optimistic that the Diablo community is respectful, and worthy of a new game.
If you can't channel your anger into civil thinking, post in the threads here. We'll listen. There will be plenty to join you, I'm sure.
That's the only 3 cures I know of. Anyone know any others?

I personally believe they are taking so long because they are onto something DAMN good, and it will take awhile to create. A game of epic proportions. A game that may perhaps be the end of the World... Of Warcraft.
World...of warcraft's end will be a day of celebration....

I dont know if anyone has heared this already but the reason Blizzard is taking so long is they are trying really hard to perfect the game. It IS in production. Believe it or not Blizzard has already completed the game, about 4 years ago, but they complained it wasn't "fun" enough so they've been re-making it and re-making it.
The one who says this is apparantly good friends with a Blizzard employee.
It could be a bunch of bs but he is very positive.
It looks like the Diablo III rumor mill has started up once again with a seemingly innocent post on the jobs section of the Blizzard web site. A few days ago they posted a job for an art director and various leads to join "the team behind Diablo I and II" for "an unannounced PC project." I have been getting some inquires since then if Blizzard is indeed working on Diablo III and when is it going to come out?
Well, before I answer let me mention a few things. First, I don't want to get any of my friends at Blizzard in trouble, so from instead of mentioning "Diablo III" let's call this theoretical game "Beelzebub 3" and instead of "Blizzard" let's call them "Snowstorm". Second, my information is quality stuff, but it is a little old, so take that with a gain of salt. Third, err, well, there is no third, so let's get into what I know!
Let's the obvious out of way, "Snowstorm" is indeed working on "Beelzebub 3". Not only are they working on it, but they have been working on this game for no less than the past four years. In fact, "Snowstorm North" nearly completed the game several years ago, but what they developed just "wasn't fun" and been quietly reworked. This was actually one of the key reasons why Snowstorm North was closed and everyone was relocated to Irvine-based Snowstorm, so that the bigwigs in Irvine could better track and follow the development of Beelzebub 3.
As for what to expect in to see in Beelzebub 3, believe it or not but those rumors that were floating around a few months ago about the game were fairly accurate (by the way, I have no idea who started these rumors or where they came from). According to the rumors:
"Diablo 3 takes place in heaven. Hell is trying to take it over and it is AWESOME looking … Imagine the brightness of heaven being taken over by the darkness of hell … Imagine WoW but in a Diablo world in amount of size and playability … Also, guild housing is available in this game for those of you who know about it."
This information was pretty dead-on. It is true that Beelzebub 3 will be done in true 3D and it did indeed look freaking awesome. It is also true that Beelzebub 3 features a story between the conflicts of Heaven and Hell and contains a very cool feature where every single item in the game can change between a "light" version and a "dark" version. However this was also one of the problems with the original version of the game. Other than the ability for any item to visually change from light to dark it didn't affect the actual stats of the item or change the gameplay in any way. So the game has gone through a total rework to inject some "fun" into the gameplay and to make it feel like the Beelzebubs of old.
The core gameplay Beelzebub 3 will play pretty much like Beelzebub 1 and 2, but the game world will be much larger and provide a much deeper experience -- many more items, more levels when you go through the game for first time, more skills, more of everything. In addition, the multiplayer aspect will be greatly enhanced from the past installments and don't be surprised to see more than a couple of WoW-based concepts to leak over into the Beelzebub 3 universe ... such as two opposing factions (Alliance and Horde = Heaven and Hell), enhanced guild functionality, and maybe even mounts?!
As for when Beelzebub 3 will released, that one is easy to answer ... when it's done. Snowstorm is in no rush to finish this game and will release it only after they feel it's perfect. And after the fiasco of StarCraft: Ghost -- which has been announced for years and is currently going through its second round of redesign and reprogramming -- Snowstorm is in no rush to announce Beelzebub 3. Don't except an announcement until the game is near completion.
But there is some good news; that "leak" on the Snowstorm jobs page was no accident. If they are starting to leak information about Beelzebub 3 then they are starting to get closer to a final release. Of course for Snowstorm something "getting close" can mean two years from now.
Hopefully that will hold everyone over for the short term. Hopefully Beelzebub 3 will be announced at the next E3, I'll try to find out more before then and give everyone the dirt as I get it.

Hey Acid, once again I commend you on your post(s). Yesterday was very dissapointing yes, but so have been all the other gaming conventions that Blizzard forgot about us at. Now imagine how much D3 would've sucked if they'd hurried it out the door 5 years ago...THIS GAME IS GOING TO FUCKING RULE!!!!It's got to after 8 years of development. (LOL)
When Diablo 3 does come out it will redefine the genre JUST like it did with Diablo 2. Thats what gets me by....knowing that its gonna change the industry when it does come out. It fucking better. Or else.

Dr. Acid, i have a question. if my heart is doubtful of the announcment being this year, what should i do? the Blizzard VP said (and i think i heard it right) that big Blizzard announcements will be Blizzard events.
Maybe diablo aint part of blizzard since diablo was barely at blizzcon...;]
stupid thing to say, since blizzcon is a celebration of warcraft, starcraft, and diablo. not only that, why would blizzard avoid questions and own diablo if it wasnt part of blizzard? seriously, did you really think that comment out? im trying to be nice to you so ill drop it.
Yea im looking it over again i dont know what is aid im srry its just frustrating knowing that the game you love wont show up brand new for some time.
we are all going through it the same bud. i started an xfire account and the total logged since november 21st is 200 hours. not counting the last couple years of full-time gaming ive done. however what sets us apart from the idiots saying they quit and they hate blizzard, is that we have the brains to know it WILL come out, and soon. read acid's first post for the down-low.

What I originally heard, was big Blizzard annoucements would be at BlizzCon's. That's why I was so surprised StarCraft II was unveiled at the WWI. Perhaps they are sticking to big Blizzard events, or perhaps they may change their approach to only big worldwide events.
WoW expansions were said to be once every year. The first one was late, and this next one will be later. Anything can change with Blizzard, we're all witness to that.
honestly, i don't want D3 in "true 3D". i like the overhead bird's-eye view. it was original, and is consistent in the first 2. what's next, Diablo III won't have Diablo in it?
