Events may be based on BattleNet, Hamachi, LAN, or even here on DiabloFans.com. Please stick to activities related to the Diablo franchise, as we have not yet branched out into any other games.

Okay, guys. We gotta get the ball rolling on this one. So, I'll put up an idea for our first 'event', k? I'd like anyone else that is interested in this event to post in favour. That way we can figure out how many people we're going to have and whether or not the event will even work out.

DIABLO II SONS OF OHR IRONMAN - ROUND 1
Nature of Event: Diablo II Ironman Run Realm: US West, Non-Ladder, Original DII Game Date & Time of Event: Friday, March 12 (3:00 PM PST) Minimum Participants: 3 Maximum Participants: N/A
Brief Description: Ironman events are tough but exciting. Essentially, the concept is to use as little aid as possible to complete the game. A small party sets forth (usually around 3 players) with only their base equipment and must complete as much of the game as possible without returning to town to make purchases. They may only buy items from a town when it is their first visit. If a character dies, they must immediately return to the group. The game only ends when there is no conceivable way of continuing (loss) or the party completes the game (win). The game may be paused and continued at a later time if need be.
Seeing as how everyone might not own LoD, I've decided to make this game an original Diablo II run only (the game will end with the slaying of Diablo).
Few questions: We are makin new chars? And for sure nonladder and non expansion because I'm pretty sure everyone has LoD. If it started and I couldn't join till later (say 4:30 PCT) would that be allowed?
I just wanted to tell you Jet, that I really appreciate the invite, but my work schedule and playing-style kind of precludes my involvement with a clan.
Thanks, anyway, and I hope you guys do well.
Qapla!
I have never used Hamachi, but would be willing to look into it if it did allow for more players. If people need the time to be made later, that can be done as well. I deliberately set an early-ish time so that we could move it around if need be. If everyone playing has LoD we can also make it LoD.
One question. I have never used any mods. Would that affect your gameplay? Or can you set it to be in 'off' mode or w/e so we all have a normal game?
> New Characters
> If we do go BNet (rather than Hamachi), for sure Non-Ladder
It allows for LAN play with people across continents, it's basically a private version of B-net. Small networks can be set up (16 users max), and multiple networks can be set up, so it would probably be an ideal thing to use if you were to make a clan. It has chat features, announcements, bullitens, it's really quite cool...
It's used mostly for mod play, since we cannot play over B-net with mods.
Though, to be clear, this is not a form of closed battle net. It's LAN play.

Honestly, I've never installed a mod into the same Diablo folder that I use to play. I always make a second copy of my diablo files, and install the mod into those ones. This way, I can use the second, modded copy to play over LAN, and keep my original diablo files to play over B-net.

Okay, well, since nothing was officially decided on this one, I'll bump it to next Friday. Please guys, I need some input on this (to find out how people want to go about playing this).
Hamachi or BNet?
Diablo II or LoD?
Ladder or Non-Ladder?
3:00 PST or 4:30?
Okay, folks, I have revised the schedule for this event. I would still very much like to do this (and I hope you guys do too). I'm trying to be accommodating in terms of what platform (BNet/Hamachi) we play it on, but I do require some feedback on the matter. Please give me some opinions!
Thank you!

Qapla!
i mean even if i like other mods more lol
hamachi is the only legit way to play the mods

Still wondering 'bout this one though:
mods like es, zyel, bfe and a few others have a built in 3rd party stash enlarger called plugy.
this third party tool cannot be used on bnet.
on the other hand if you create the install in a different folder than the default one, it wont detect the 3rd party tools.
and the rule is if one person has plugy in a game, everyone else needs it too. (to join the game ofc)
there are other 3rd party tools which include multrires (for 1.12)
Honestly, I've never installed a mod into the same Diablo folder that I use to play. I always make a second copy of my diablo files, and install the mod into those ones. This way, I can use the second, modded copy to play over LAN, and keep my original diablo files to play over B-net.
some mods have custom folders.
and on the other hand some mods require it to be installed on a base folder.
but the reg d2 can be in a sep folder.
oh and there are dlls. that are addons too
like the merc mod (as seen in es, zyel, and a few others)
currently i have zyel installed on the main folder.
mxl on a side folder (1.12)
es on another side folder
and lod on a third (which needs fixing atm)
Hamachi or BNet?
Diablo II or LoD?
Ladder or Non-Ladder?
3:00 PST or 4:30?
Thanks, y'all!
Thank you!
