I posted this in the official forums but I'll go ahead and post it here too
I know this might sound whiny but I'll say it anyway:
why are the prices in the PTR AH so high!!?? I understand that people like to see high numbers in their account balance but come on! we, as a community, complain and ask for improvements and to be heard by the devs, and they give us the PTR, but half of us can't test the patch because we can't gear up for our builds.
It's absurd!
I say the PTR AH should have a price limit of 100k or something like that:
It wouldn't affect the economy in any negative way and it would give players with little amounts of gold an opportunity to buy high-end gear and test different builds, effectively increasing the amount of players with a good chance to do the Public Testing and thus improving the quality of the feedback.
And before you say I'm crying because I don't have enough gold and I should go farm more, let me say you this: some of us are casual players and can't farm that much, but that doesn't mean we can't offer our insight on how to improve the game, and missing the opportunity the PTR offer us to do so because some people just get uselessly greedy is a waste of time, in both ends, for us because we can't play as freely as we could, and for blizzard because it wastes server and employees time and doesn't get as much and as good feedback as they could.
Since the very first PTR of WoW prices have been enormously, unbelievable high. There is no good reason for it. Players simply put things up for huge amounts. If you want to change that publish your things at low prices. Change could happen slowly and at least you'd be helping. I post things for super low sums on PTRs to try and help people test things.
You do realize that you're asking improvements on PTR and not for the game itself, right?!
The point of the PTR is not to test high end gear on your characters but the changes for the incoming patch, to see how they will affect your gameplay, if there are bugs or things to be tweaked.
AH should not be the focus on the PTR, period.
PS: If there's a 100k or any small limit per auction, it means that everybody will buy that high-end stuff, some because they really want to test it but the majority because they want to see themselves dressed well, striding inferno like a boss...and since high end gear pieces are few (due to RNG), only a small percentage will have it (who buys it first) and not everyone will be able to test it.
What does that say to you?
Is it really a thought worth having right now?!
PS again: You can't complain in the same sentence that you're both a casual player and a poor player. Don't mean to offend you in any way but you just can't.
Of course I realize that why I'm asking is for the PTR only, otherwise it wouldn't make sense, it would just kill all the game economy.
In the PTR not only there're new gameplay features, but also skills changes, and in order to test the usefulness of those skills we need gear, because that's just the way Diablo 3 is, some skills just don't work without the gear.
About the RNG thing, you're right, but I think that it's better to have at least a few more people well geared than some items just sitting idle in the AH.
And I wasn't complaining that I'm a casual player and a poor player, I'm just saying that for PTR purposes the idea of deserving the gold and items because some people play more is useless and possibly harmful. Earning things in a test environment like the PTR is inconsequential.
In other words, you could say I'm asking rich or lucky players to give away their stuff on the PTR, why? because it doesn't hurt them (because ultimately the gold and items just vanish) and it can possible benefit us all (the rich can get items if they want them and also the poor). If the RNG and item scarcity negates absolute equality (unavoidable but necessary) at least a better distribution of wealth is a good thing.

I know, and I do, but the wait in this case is unnecessary, that's why I say a price limit should be implemented, you know, to speed things up.
I don't know why people would put things on the AH anyway.
Also, why are people asking for PTR progress to transfer to live servers? Facepalm
Putting things in the PTR AH can be useful, if you're searching for that particular item it's easier to browse the AH rather than just asking in the chat or in the forums.
People are asking to transfer things from the PTR to live you say? MADNESS!!
Make some friends with high-end gear who don't want to spend time on PTR, and ask them to just copy their gear over and donate everything to you. Easy way around a fake, temporary AH.
If you want gear or gold, just be friendly and simply ASK them for you to have it the next time their copy-cooldown finishes. Most people are happy to lend a hand.
Thats a silly complaint when you're just looking for a solution in the wrong places.

I thought of that, but if someone is looking for a particular stat to try some skill, then the AH is a great way to find those items, and asking in the chat or to friends can be cumbersome, I'm not saying that asking is no good, but it can be easier to make it through the AH and, again, it doesn't hurt anybody.
It's PTR.... Where you test your live characters on the newest patch. Hell first day of PTR I gave some kid in trade 1b because he needed some crafting gold.

That's exactly the kind of logic I'm using, you can give away things. About the first part, there's no need to restrict the testing to only the live characters, that's not a rule and if it where then any kind of extra modifications to the toon should be removed (changing items or skills) because otherwise you wouldn't be playing your live character
Surely we can all agree that asking billions in exchange for an item on a non permanent server made solely for testing is dumb, but i'm afraid that restricting people from posting auctions for a piles and piles of money will just make them not post the auction to begin with. Someone posting a 2bil auction probably wants to tempt someone else into letting them test an item they're interested in and so the loop continues.
The only all-around-pleasing solution I can think of would be to make vendors you can straight up buy customizable items from. This would take an eternity to create and basically let anyone with a patched PTR test out what its like to play with the best possible gear and realize what a waste of time this is. To gain such privileges you first need to play the game for a decade, anything else is just bad business.
Make a thread requesting specific gear with a small explanation what you're trying to accomplish, and if you really want to milk it then offer even the smallest fee on live servers and people will gladly hand over what they have and clone a new character.
I'm not so sure people won't put items in the AH if it's limited, why not? don't forget that those people probably want items for themselves and therefore need some gold income, so they'll might need to sell some stuff. And also consider that if they don't sell them items are just occupying stash space.
I see there's this idea that people is so selfish and even malicious that they won't want to even think about doing something different than their more greedy whims, people can be generous sometimes, otherwise the idea of asking in a forum or in the chat rooms would be stupid.
Some people just need a nudge in the right direction...

They won't do it because something silly like 100k or even 100mil is too insignificant since alot of these item holders start off from 4-5billion every time they recopy a character. Auctions also get wiped when your character does so you can't really leave your legacy behind in that sense.
exactly, it's too insignificant, hence no need for competition, leaving only cooperation as a driver for exchange of items

^ this. And less people playing is a big factor as well.
Not much Blizzard can do really. Also, their focus on patching isn't to balance prices or the economy, they're patching mostly gameplay content. Most AH-related patches have been aimed towards improving the UI or functionality (more search parameters, etc.)
if the root of your complaint is that the equipment you want isn't available to you then why complain about the AH instead of just request that you have unlimited resources and/or can make your own equipment on PTR?

Your logic hurts so much for the fact I never thought about that >.<

COMMUNISM IN THE PTR!!

Why wouldn't they? it doesn't help anyone to have a lot of gold in the PTR either, so the gold is ultimately worthless.

thank you very much, I could use that yes
I still maintain my point, I think it would be healthy for the PTR and the quality of feedback

Yup, you're quite right, that's why I think that a free market economy in the PTR is not the best option

Well, in a ideal world, everybody would think like that.
Also, we would all be communists.
But somehow ppl are still greedy ^^ I never understood it either, and I ve been on PTRs since wow beta.
