Just found a Legendary...

  • #1
...from a barrel. I didn't even break it on purpose, I was walking by it with my sweeping wind on. I just thought it was noteworthy since I've never had that happen to me before. Anyone else found legendaries from breakables?

Found a set item on a corpse/skeleton. The same day I found my first legendary off of a treasure bandit (set as well). Hasn't happened since.

Found a set item (Tal Rasha's helm) from a breakable in the towers in act 3 - I think it was called an infernal cocoon, or something like that. Still wearing it to this day.

Oh, yes. I recall my very first set item all the way back in June. Natalya's Soul. Off of one of those deformed red/black blobs in Act IV, right before the Silver Spire.

Dem green boots. Still get excited when I see green boots. Unless it's Blackthorne's.

Found a Mace recently from a weapon rack. :)

    Ha. Bagstone.

It makes me want to open and smash everything now, just because it's happened to me. I'll be like, "What if I didn't open that and there's a pair of Lacuni's sitting in there?"

    Simple. It's not there.
There are no mobs or objects that hold specific items before they are dead/broken. Only if you kill/break something a roll happens which determines if something drops or not and if it does then it rolls what exactly is it going to be based on mob level*, mob type and your magic find +on inferno if MP is enabled - chance for extra items from trash mobs ( *breakables have same levels as mobs).

Therefor you don't have to worry about skipping that specific barrel, because the next one has the same chances of dropping the same loot and so efficient farming is fast farming, skipping mobs that are out of your way and rather running to mobs in your way etc :) Breaking everything you see will actually decrease your legendary drops per [time].

Also, legedaries can drop from absolutely anything. I've found them in barrels weapon racks, dead soldiers, simple mobs, rares, champions, bosses, goblins...
Even had 2 from 1 mob and there can be upto 5 actually.

edit: actually i think no loot can be found in breakable objects that are not clickable, if you know what i mean. For example those tables in keep depths. You can't break those by left clicking on them, but you still break them with aoe or with shift+click.

Oh and you could argue that ubers and wardens hold organs/keys on mp10 before they die, but to my knowledge the rolls still happen uppon death, it just has a 100% chance.

Yeah I know that that specific barrel doesn't happen to have a pair of lacuni's in it, I was just saying, what if I clicked it and some WERE to pop out? I'd never know. I'll still farm the same way it was just funny to me is all.

And the first time I ever found a legendary, I found two in a row. One from a Champion pack and one from the next normal mob I killed after that. The first one was an amulet, can't remember off the top of my head which one. I think the other one was Ivory Tower. lol

Everything that can drop gold can drop a Legendary, but you don't break that much barrels so thats why its the first legendary off a barrel for you.

I also found a legendary from a corpse. It was won kim lau.
It can happen, but it is not worth turning every body. I played a lot and turned a lot of barrels /bodies /chests and found only one. At the same time I found 300+ legendaries form killing.
So my point is it is just not worth turning every body/chest/barrel. Since some of them don't even have to give you anything you would kill far more monsters in that time and it would increase your chances of getting a legendary.

My friend clicks the dead cow (or whatever they are) near rakkis waypoint and he got depth diggers with 250+ str 250+vit. He sold them for 250 EUR on rmah, although he could make more EUR from selling on gold AH or trade. Since that day I always click those cows yet no legendary dropped from them :S
Btw from barrels I have gotten lots of crappy legs..

I found my first legendary from a weapon rack, right after you kill the Warden and walk south through the opened door. It was an Ourobouros, legendary amulet. Found it before the inferno nerf and legendary buff patches, when I was still farming act1 on my Barbarian because act2+ was so ridiculously hard. Rerolled a demon hunter right after so I could farm act3. Good times, good times :-(

I found one of my first legendaries (1st or 2nd, not sure anymore) from a simple chest or one of the breakables in the Hell Rift in act 4 Inferno on my first play through. It was a (useless) Messerschmidt's Reaver.

    Once. A Puss Spitter.

Yes, once had a Sky Splitter from the random resplendent chest that spawns in the Secluded Grove, in Fields of Misery. The event that spawns the elite/unique tree The Old Man. Brimstoned it, completely sucked.

found a crossbow from a weapon rack once. thats the only I can remember that wasnt from mobs
I can see what you see not. Vision milky, then eyes rot.
When you turn, they will be gone. Whispering their hidden song.

Then you see what cannot be. Shadows move where light should be.
