I played the game last night through midnight, and there was no posted message that said the game would be down today. Now, today, there's a message that says the servers will be down tomorrow, and the servers are down today.
This is not an MMO. That's obvious oversight and in my book an unacceptable level of customer service for such a large company. Assuming my game is unavailable every Tuesday is also unacceptable because Tuesdays are often the days I have off. Nowhere on the requirements list was "must not play on Tuesday".
Early on they had no problem posting info ahead of time as they brought the servers down to upgrade them and expand their hardware. Now that things are stable, now they can't inform us ahead of time in-game?
Seriously? I love this game. But for a company that large, that's outrageous.
OH HEY GUYS THE HIGHWAY'S GONNA BE CLOSED TOMOROOOOOW
*cough*
OOPS MEANT TODAY SORRY EVERYBODY
That would not be acceptable anywhere else, ever. It is a car analogy.
Its EVERY tuesday, get used to it. Its been mentioned for more than a few days, I saw a blue post on it Friday or Saturday, they tweaked the times since then, but it was out there previously.
As you can see ti was posted 3 days ago, and edited yesterday (to show the time changes).

Also, the servers down tomorrow post is for the European servers, they are getting the same patch tomorrow that the US is getting today.
what happened yesterday wasn't maintenance there was a login issue, people couldn't log in, so they took the servers down to resolve that issue, you wanted them too not close the servers so no one could log in ever?
I saw the blue post this week (due to the blue tracker), I still don't understand why they can't put it in the Breaking News 24 hours prior - there is no question that the Breaking News section has the highest visibility of all the possible outlets for communication.
Oh well, this was standard operating procedure in WoW for years too, until Blizzard realized they needed to do what they could to improve communication. Then they started using the Breaking News section more effectively.

So sorry that you missed that even being linked on the front page of this site a couple of days ago as well.

Last time I posted this request users got so upset (cough, butthurt) they actually got themselves banned and the thread deleted. Something that stupid over a request this mundane is outrageous and betrays some extreme fanboyism.
It's not like we're asking for NO MAINTENANCE or something, it's just better if it is announced earlier.
No it isn't EVERY TUESDAY. Maybe you haven't been playing since launch. That post is absolutely not visible to anyone with a job and a life who doesn't have time to spend 5+ hours trawling the garbage-dump official forums.
Your right, it hasnt been EVERY tuesday, there was the one week where they did it on a Wednesday, and maybe one or 2 other weeks where they didn't do it. But it all practicality, you can assume that it will be on Tuesday, and be surprised if it isn't.
Yes, they could put it in breaking news and i agree with that, but to say that they dont give any notice on it, is completely wrong as well, plenty of posts about it here, and on the Battle.net forums/blue trackers as well.
Maybe I'm missing something, but if Tuesdays are usually the days you have off, what difference does it make whether or not they announce the maintenance? You're still not going to be able to play, either way.
Furthermore, I'm seeing a scheduled maintenance notice that was posted on July 7th, 3 days ago. Are you telling me that you post on this forum but you don't bother checking the main page? The patch news was posted last night, yes, but the maintenance has been known for 3 days now.
In other words, OP, don't complain about "surprise maintenance" when you don't even bother to read the news posts. There's nothing surprising in the slightest about maintenance posted 3 days in advance.
Troll. I'm not mad, I'm posting constructive criticism.
you're mad, this is your 2nd thread about maintenance announcement in last 10days or so...get a life for 5 hours that the maintenance is up, even if it wasnt announced
Aren't you one of the people who got an infraction in the last thread for being needlessly assholish?
It's a legit complaint. They should just put it in the launcher. Case closed.
I've been on the road non-stop for the last five days. I don't always have time to check the official page, and even if I had I wouldn't have seen that post. Why put the visible one up at 11:59? Is there a measurable reason to not post it the day prior in breaking news? Or are you just full of hot air?
Present a balanced argument for why the information shouldn't be posted in the launcher or on the login page, or you're just being an unreasonable troll. Claiming mutual exclusivity with posting the information on the website is ignorant, like saying you can't label more than one fire exit.

You have 269 posts on these forums. Is it so hard for you to check the main page? Tuesday's maintenance was clearly listed as early as the 7th.
If you can open the launcher, you can open an internet browser. If you want to see maintenance details on the launcher, I suggest you post your suggestion on the main forums.

You don't think they could have posted it five hours earlier for everyone's convenience? In-game? Or on the launcher?

Its summer, its during the day... and the weather across the country is relatively beautiful.
