Preordered CE online but want to play at release? I got ideas!

  • #21
Being from Europe, I'm curious to know whether or not Blizzard has said anything about there being a worldwide release (i.e. PST at midnight, but 9 am CET) or if it's release at midnight through the world.

Does anyone know? I would actually prefer the worldwide, since I can then sleep a good 8 hours, take a stroll down to my local shop and just pick up my CE there and go home and start playing at 9 am and all day without being tired :)

Anyone recommend the estbplace to ore-order theCE? I looked on amazon and they aren't offering yet?
  • #23
Okay this topic confuses me more and more. Can someone help me out to clarify things?

I pre-ordered the CE at amazon.de and they say the estimate date of delivery will be 12.5.. Until now I thought I'll get my box, open it, get the key and then wait until they release the game (at whatever exact time that might be) enter the key and install the game (or add the key to my B.Net Account so I can login). I already downloaded the client.

But that's not possible? Is the CE Version some special version/client? Why do I have to buy the digital copy and do some weird exchange and selling thing, to play from the first minute on? I'm just really confused right now :S
    I am in blood
    Stepped in so far that,
    should I wade no more.

The CE version is apparently a little diffrent yes, because you get some ingame items.
However you CAN use the normal client, so that when you get your CE and go home, you can start that up.

However, since it is encryptet, you will need to decrypt it, which takes alot of time, and Blizzard said that it might actually be faster to just install the game from the CE's disc's instead.

So the only way you can game at the minute midnight, is by buying a digital copy of the game, and then adding the CE later.
But honestly, you're gonna miss like what, 15 min of game time? I think one can manage...

I'm actually gratefull that the server's aren't coming up untill 3AM eastern. Means I can peacfully go to the midnight release, come home and look through the stuff in the CE, maybe even try to nap (not likely possible, too much excitmenet) then play!

If I lived in PST time, I would have to have decided weather I wanted the CE in my hands at midnight, and not start playing untill 12:30ish or use the WoW anuall pass right at midnight.

ARE U SURE ABOUT THIS? THAT SERVERS WONT GO UP TILL 3 AM EASTERN? CAN U PLZ GIVE A LINK OF THIS. THANKS!

I think its right 3 hour difference between PST and EST, blizz headquarter go by PST.

So you get one new standard key not a refund($).

This plus the fact that server doesn't open up until 3AM leaves me with nothing better to do but try and buy as many CE's I can. What else are you going to do Tuesday morning. I'm really diliking the 3AM chances are I'll probably get too baked and just pass out :( and wake up int he morning pissed off that I missed 6 or 7 hours of playing.

Just thought I'd bump this up and let my fellow Canadians know that Future Shop has pre-orders open for CE's again, at a limit of one per household. I was able to reserve my copy this afternoon.

Best Buy had them up, but they've apparently sold out again. I know they'll probably have some more pop up between now and the 15th, but I noticed there has been some concern here and on the official forums about the lack of CE's in Canada. Just thought I'd let you all know if you were unable to order one before now and that there are some available if you're interested.

    Cheers.

I talked to Blizz costumer support and they are more than happy to refund me and recommended that I purchase it a week before release so the refund is easy with no "pending" problems

To be clear.... your saying that since i ordered my CE online, blizzard is fine with me buying the digital version from them so i can play right away. Then return my digital CD key to them for a refund once i get my CE.

I realize you are quoting me in Blue so its a quick source of sense. However when I talked to the support department they told me, AND my brother who made a different phone call a few days later the following:

"Hey I have a CE copy preordered but didn't wanna wait for it to get to my house while everyone is enjoying D3, so what do you recommend?"
"Well, you can buy a digital copy of D3 and play that. When your CE comes in a few days later just load that up and call us back, because you can only have 1 Diablo 3 per account, and we will then have to remove the digital CD key from your account and replace it with your CE edition. All your characters should transfer over along with your CE items because its linked to your account. I would also recommend buying the digital version about 7 days before launch that way there is no "pending" transactions. That way we can refund your money back to your bank account in a timely manner"

So believe what you will on the matter, all I am saying is I have the answer for me and I hope everyone else gets what they want.
If this helps good, if not well.. see ya in Hell.

Officially, it's PDT, Pacific Daylight Time, not Pacific Standard Time. You plug PST into an online timezone converter you'll be off by an hour in the math.

Pre-ordered mine from Futurecrap also back in January. I haven't ordered a game from them before. Wonder what their release day delivery will be here on the east coast. It's usually a day or two behind the rest of North America.

Yeah, this will be the first time for myself as well, we'll see how it pans out. I've gone to midnight releases at them, but never had one mailed to me through them. I got them where I could though, I was just happy they had restocked them, hopefully they don't screw up and I do end up getting one.

Question. Are they letting everyone download the full client/patches before the game comes out? That way those of us going to midnight launches can just come home, type in a CD Key and get to playing? I really don't want to have to wait 2-3 hours to patch because of bogged down servers.

I remember downloading D2 patch 1.10 on release day on a 56k modem in '03 when EVERYONE was doing the same thing. Not fun times.

Looks like Walmart.com is offering CE preorders right now. Says ships on 3/15 so you won't get it for release day but at least you can get your hands on the CE.

    http://www.walmart.c...ci_sku=19237344

    And Target.com

    LoL and Buy.com too

Guess they're not so hard to find after all. At least not right now. Buy.com has a limit of 2 per customer.

and this is why I ordered my ce online from a store that sends it to me a few days in advance.
I can see what you see not. Vision milky, then eyes rot.
When you turn, they will be gone. Whispering their hidden song.

Then you see what cannot be. Shadows move where light should be.

Since nobody answered this, I'll second his question. Has there been any info about EU releasing yet?

Firstly, you will have to decrypt your game. I don't know if it can install and decrypt at the same time, if not, then after the decrypting, you will have to do that. Lastly, you will likely have to dowload a minor patch (according to blizzard) containing the changes that they make in the timespan because now and release.
