I'll begin then.. I think I was *taking up the calculator, ahem!* yeah now I remember, I was 14 years old :] and I remember that me, my best friend and his brother sat in the living room of his family with three computers. So we sat there for several hours and played Diablo 2 and the important part was, we got to share this experience together and it was just alot of fun! Crazy fun!
And my favorite class back then was Necromancer, that was me. So now, I just wait.. torture myself a bit.. hope to play Witch Doctor soon! :] But the wait is worth it for the new memories that will come and this time around I will be sharing this amazing game experience with my girlfriend.
So tell me, which memory do you remember the best from Diablo franchise? :]
I dont know if this is my "best" memory, but its definitly one of my oldest Diablo memories:
Me, 8 years old, playing Diablo1 demo in 1996, searching for things like "Large" and "Axe" in dictionary (Im not native english speaker), starting my first "real" study of english. And hell it worked Game by game I was getting better and better in english and by the time I could play entire Baldur's Gate2 in english I knew I dont have to study on english part of my high school leaving exam and later university entrance tests True story.

Rencol - Diablo fan since 1996 and walking encyclopedia of Diablo lore.
The most memorable experience I remember was dueling with the only Hardcore Character I ever got into the 90's and having a "gentlemens agreement" with a buddy we werent going to go for the kill... basically at 25% we were backing off. Well I ran out into the field non the wiser to the fact that he went and rezzed his g-merc tele'd to me and well lets just say that there wasn't a 25% to stop at....
When I was 15 my friends and I had all bought our copies of Diablo 1 after spending weeks playing spawned versions, and I finally talked my girlfriend into playing it with me.
I was a Sorcerer and she was a Rogue, we were both around level 40-50.
I bought a couple dozen scrolls of resurrection and fireballed/rezzed her over and over until her items, gold, and ears covered the ground. My friends and I were laughing hysterically and she called my house to yell at me (while the slaughter continued). She didn't talk to me the rest of the day.
It sounds so mean now, but I'm 30 and that's still one of the best things I ever saw in a Diablo game lol.
Edit: In the following months I'd periodically toss out one of her ears as a reminder. She'd get mad all over again and I'd laugh all over again. Oh young love.
My fondest memory of Diablo 2 was the sheer brutality of it. I was a careless noob who was new to online MMO's and Diablo 2 definitely opened my eyes. I can still remember all of the times I was SCAMMED by punks because I didn't know any better. From the "Oh want to join my guild? Drop all your gear first gag" to the "oh drop your gear outside of town so I know I can trust you and they teleport over with an amulet." Diablo 2 hardened me to the battle tested gamer I am today. I even came up with my own grieving, such as opening TP's with countless hydra's waiting on the otherside for my unsuspecting fellow hardcore players; only to hostile and melt their faces when they noticed too late.
I think it's still is the "oh shit!" moment when I entered the Butcher's room and realized I wasn't ready for him at all!
That has to be everyone's #1 shared best moment! I used to refuse to play a new character online until he could kill the butcher in single player first. It was a rite.
One of the earliest memories i have from diablo is from the diablo 1 butcher. He was pretty hard and I was a paladic andfound a way to get a scroll or staff of firewall and got the butcher to pace around outside a door on an iron fence and used the firewall to kill him. I remember it more than other things because it was just outsmarting the game in order to kill something that was difficult
My earliest memory is the ending cinematic of removing the soulstone and shoving it in your head in the first Diablo. I never played the game when it came out because I was only two when the game first came out. But the best memory I have is probably the first time I met the Butcher.
"Ahhhhhhh!!! Fresh meat!"
"Oh shit!"
I ran for my life and was scared shitless of that room and the Butcher for about a month. I think I even had nightmares because of it. But that wasn't until I was like 12.

I don't always burn. But when I do, I use hellfire.
My strongest memory of the Diablo franchise comes from one of the first times I ever played Diablo II. I was probably about 14 or so when it came out, so I didn't have the money to run and buy it. Instead, me and my 3 other friends would get on the subway and go downtown to play it at our favorite lan cafe. We did this every saturday and sunday for a long time. So one of the first times we were playing Diablo 2, there was this little kid who joined our game, and he needed the Blood Raven quest. So he comes in and right away starts saying "Don't kill Blood Raven!". So of course, being the 14 year old dicks that we were, we killed her before he could get credit. Still to this day we quote that kid. I'll never forget it.
My best memory is the first time venturing into a dungeon in the original Diablo. I was fairly young when it came out and most of my video game experience up to that point had been playing Nintendo, Genesis, etc. I remember being legit creeped out by the dark atmosphere, eerie music, and constant stream of monsters of Diablo. Yet, at the same time, it was also an awesome feeling to have a video game illicit that sort of response -- and I have been hooked ever since.
The memories that attached with me the most, was just going through the town, after every quest and listening to what all the NPC's had to say and enjoying the story, I can't wait do the same in Diablo 3 and collect Journals
I'll throw in another vote for meeting the Butcher for the first time...dear lord I think I almost crapped my pants.
I think my other favorite memory has to be when a group of my friends held a "D-Day" where we all went over to a friends basement with our computers, got drunk off some illicitly gained vodka, and ran through acts 1-4 of D2 together in about 6 hours. Screaming our heads off at each other constantly as we waded through a sea of demonic blood...good times.
I also fondly remember hanging on every word of a friend who got D2 a few weeks before me. We were in 6th grade, and that's about all we talked about on the bus every day. Ahh, those were the days.
Little did I know how epic a crusade I was in for when I first walked into the Blood Moor on my Barbarian when Diablo II was first released. /nostalgia
Edit: Must not forget the close second;"Fresh Meat!" followed by my first, several deaths of Diablo I.

Yup. *tear* The sheer terror the Butcher inspired was legendary. The lengths that people would often go to in order to kill him were impressive.
I think my fondest personal memory, though, was finding a King's Sword of Haste that wasn't duped. I felt pretty legit then.
This Isn't the best memory but definitely worth telling! I believe i was 13 and I recently shattered my left arm during football practice, nevertheless I said i would play my computer while i stayed home from school for several days. I could of been the poster boy for trying to play games such as counter strike and diablo 2 as i winced in pain moving my characters around the map. I had finally gotten in a position comfortable enough to lead my pally through the horde of minions!!!! At the time I didn't play online and it took me forever to reach act 2! I played and played and was so excited to see the desert. lol well I remember going down into the sewers to complete the first quest and wiping repeatedly. I grew extremely frustrated but didn't give up! I finally killed him and leaned forward in excitement to grab the sparkling golden chest! =( however when the excitement dwelled away and I used my tomb for a free skill point I leaned back not knowing my knee had been pressing the power button on my ancient gateway and shut down without saving. I was devastated lol but after a pain killer induced nap i came back and conquered!
What I remember most about Diablo 2 was some part in Act 2. I remember you started off in the center with 4 ways to choose. I could never go the right way and on most attempts (Many different playthroughs/characters) I would always end up finally choosing the correct path about the 3rd or last path I chose. It was so frustrating, immensely so when playing on Hell... oh god.
My best memory was when my brother first introduced me to diablo and I was terrified lol. sad I know. either way I found myself being as courageous as possible because I wanted to prove to my brother I was worthy to play the diablo 2 when he bought it lol.

This was definitely the defining moment of the Diablo series for me.
