I just posted this on the official forums, was curious what you guys thought of it
As Zarhym recently told us, the game is in the polish/test phase. I believe it's been in this phase for a long time but that's a different point entirely.
So the game is being polished and tested, sounds reasonable enough. Blizzard has to do the polishing obviously but the testing, isn't that what the Beta is for?
We all know the beta is very small, about an hour of gameplay, and missing a lot of key features such as runes and pvp. Wouldn't it be reasonable to use the beta to test some of these things? It seems like a win-win situation to me. Blizzard gets to test whatever it is they're testing and fans in the beta get to play more of the game.
The result being the game getting finished faster, released faster and that makes for happy fans. I'm not just saying this because I want more content in the beta, I'm not even in the beta...yet
It just seemed like a reasonable idea to me that gets the game released as soon as possible but still keeping quality assurance.
I guess there is a possibility this will happen since we heard "new info" was going to come out around the same time as a beta update.
As I've said before, the beta is more of a closed demo than an actual beta.
That's what I've been thinking is that it's not really "testing" anything. Servers I guess, but I feel like the have a resource that they're not utilizing with the beta,
As has been said before, Blizzard isn't polishing or testing shit. They're done with the game and whatever the hell is going on now is some sort of a PR move or hype move. The Twitter crap is incredibly suspicious and the way Zarhym was responding was asinine at best.
"I didnt post about having a diablo 3 meeting durr you guise just assumed and roped tweets together. you guise want information we can't provide."
No clue what's going on with all this twitter stuff and all this weird "early 2012" crap when we typically look for release dates over a month out, it just all seems a little weird at this point.

thats an even bigger "conspiracy theory" than the GRB being the only reason for the delay... wow...
so.. the fact that we already knew they didnt have a final idea on the rune system...thats fake? the article we will be getting hopefully next week...thats fake? They are done and could release it.. but...are doing a PR move instead... what?
I would be highly disappointed if Blizzard added arena's or runestones to the beta now. Simply because that would mean the beta is not even near its end.
I don't think the beta will get any more content or systems implemented. Maybe class changes, but that's all. I think what they will reveal to us next week has something to do with runestones and maybe something on the follower system.
Beta is used to test specific features. For game mechanics, they rely more on the people in their own company who have years of education and experience making games so they know what they are doing.
No offense to anyone but I would prefer professionals to test out the game then a bunch of random people who will complain about anything if the game is not made exactly as they see it should be done. Which is what I see a lot from the feedback from the beta.
A collective team is much better at testing and fine-tuning a game then a bunch of random strangers all throwing in their own opinion as the right way to do things.

I don't know if I can agree with you ScyberDragon and I don't think many of the Diablo developers would either. Everyones opinions matter especially the people playing the game. They want to know what the people playing the game think so they can make the best game for the fans. I do agree that a lot the people giving the feedback are silly children who are more complaining then giving good feedback.
I am not saying they do not appreciate opinons and feedback. That is why they have the beta and Bash even asked the community about follower viability.
But my point is, they do not need to release the whole game and any more than what's in the beta to test their game because they have profesisonals to do that.

OK. I've had enough of this. For people who really care about finding out when the release date is, or what's going on, do the following. Buy a few hundred shares of Activision Blizzard; hire a securities attorney to ask for a proxy vote on having Blizzard's autonomy limited for purposes of the Diablo 3 PR and management team, get a priority vote on that issue, then get another proxy vote on a shareholder proposal to have the Diablo 3 team deposed for purposes of investment litigation, i.e. is Blizzard wasting the investor's money by not releasing Diablo 3. At the deposition, ask all the questions that you want about the release of the game and what the hold up is. Then leak the results of the deposition to the public. Congratulations! You now know all the information about when the game will be released, why they delayed, etc.
You're welcome.
