The only criticism I can think is it gives us too much too soon. But the game will probably get even more epic in scale from here. How can anyone not love watching an army of angels pour out from a hole in the sky to meet the forces of hell? That's like Diablo porn. And the music was great. Dunno what else would be appropriate for such a crazy battle.
There is one problem. The meteor comes in at an angle but the hole goes straight down. OMG PLOT HOLE GAME SUX.
Long time lurker here. I just registered because after this dissapointing cinematic I coulndt help but agree with other fellow members in the thread. The video was just so lame I cant believe people are buying this. People seem to have rose tinted glasses super glued to their faces.
Also its just me or this "rescue cain crap" has been a little overused? This is so lazy, people keep saying they want to play something new but this quest have been way too recycled by now. Every time I see something new from diablo 3 I feel a kick in the gut.
Lets face it, diablo without blizzard north its just not gonna be diablo, all I could see in this video was wow wow wow, so sad. Its like the other user said: whats with the weird pace? Cain is telling something about the end of the world and then 1 second later he states that "it has begun", WTF? Cmom blizzard you could have done better than that...
It's also funny that there were practically no complaints about PREVIOUS cinematic (the dark soulstone one) but there are many complaints about this one. I guess Blizzard will notice those complaints and make better cinematic next time.
I wish Blizzard employees were reading this forum. What a pity they are entangled in that cage which is official D3 forum.
So true man, I mean it was just so bad seeing it, they made the decision to make their opening cinematic based on a recycled quest, how lame is that. When Cain stated something about the end of the world I was hoping more dialogue and then, all of a sudden, everything starts to fall apart like some crappy hollywood movie, it sucked so bad...
It's also interesting that all of you people complaining about it are not taking into account that there are also many people who like the cinematic very much.

Dont get me wrong. I enjoyed it. But when I compare it with what the franchise has delivered before I feel it was a let down. The intro was too short, only 2.49. Diablo 2 had more than 7 minutes.
I actually sat down and watched all three trailers in a row. You should actually look at them in this order; intro, teaser, soultstone to get a fair chronological order of them.
The conclusion I could make up from watching them together like this (and it is pretty obvious if you do it) is that Leah plays a central and very important role in Diablo 3. All three videos center around her. She is the one having all the visions and dreams. She is the one getting attention from hell. She is in possesion of a very important artifact making her hot prey. If hell wants it then so must heaven. I would also like to add that I get the feeling there is something buried here. We have not seen everything.
But as an intro by itself it did not deliver anything near the mystery and cruel nature we saw from the epic intro of Diablo 2, hence making it a small failure in my book.
This isn't the full intro... You know there is extra to this based on class and gender. so you saying it is short is irrelevant, because it is in fact longer than this. Also I'd like to add that it does, propose much evil and cruel mystery because why would Diablo fall from the sky? he would'nt angels would. Also note there were more than one of theses "Fallen stars" so that means they're beginning their invasion now. Not only that why would the falling of angels produce more undead? if anything they should be wiping them out themselves... I loved it gave me some nice nerd chills.

Why dont you take your own advice and realize a bunch of us felt it extremely underwhelming compared to Blizzard's previous works/game cinematics.
Why is it when you dont like something you are a hater and need to gtfo basically.
Like I personally think the graphics are horrible. Me saying that will get me flamed till the end of the earth and my judgement questioned simply because I think they waited so long to release it. Go ahead and flame me for saying the graphics in d3 are terrible now.

I don't see anyone flaming here. What i did see is people complaining about the cinematic without taking into consideration that there are just as many people who actually liked it.
And so i wrote that reply.
Now on general, what i would like to ask is: Is this the full intro to the game/act1 ?
If yes then is blizzard's intention to compensate us with the char intros?
I am guessing this will cut shortly, then fade into the class cinematic that will open then put you on the path to new tristram. This is just the first minute of the actual whole thing, if they were to premier the whole opening cinematic we'd have to watch 10 different ones, because class and even gender are taken into account. I loved it an believe it was the most informative actually. The cionematics in D2 had nothing to do with your character and instead were just lore behind where you were going and how Diablo ended up going there, then eventually what happened with D Baal and Meph, but other than that The cutscenes didn't show your character travelling but rather Diablo and another character who eventually dies just like diablo... In diablo 1 i believe it was informative of what was going on but it wasn't mysterious in any way shape or form, merely it just showed the backdrop of what the fuck was happening which people could guess based on the lore on the back of the box. So to say this was unimpressive and not mysterious enough or informative enough is just downright wrong considering the others weren't as informative mysterious or unimpressive although the last is up for debate based on opinion.
To all thsoe saying they'll explode when they first play, Ah It is true the beta did that to me, but after 4 runs on the skele king i'm just like AH FUCK I WANNA BEAT IT ALREADY!! and play with people...

What class cinematics?? This is the first i hear of this. I doubt they will have full CGI class cinematics on top of the opening one. Maybe a short in game one (if so i'm not counting that as it's not pre rendered)
It's also interesting that all of you people complaining about it are not taking into account that there are also many people who like the cinematic very much.

They could have done a better job, would have liked to see the beginning battles in 3d.
They skimp sometimes, like the ingame cutscenes in WoW they started going to(like the wrath gate, such a waste).
Could have been alot better, didnt instill the same "hell yea" as most(like skyrim)

Oh.. my.. god.. I get it now, all pieces of the puzzle suddenly fall into place.
The question now is, do YOU see it too?
