I think what I'd end up doing is getting into a game, and play by myself for a little bit maybe till I beat the game. But once my friends have the game I'd deff will be playing with them. Plus my brother is getting the game, so I'd probably play with him on day 1.
I voted with fan friends as my brother and I will be getting the game on day 1. However (he is still in school) if he isn't able to play the game as often as I do, I will definitely have a Slone character waiting in the background.
I plan on having one char that I'll play solo at my own pace (probably on the quicker side of slow ), but very thorough as I want to see and experience everything Blizzard will put into the game. Then I'll have another char that I play whenever my friends are online and make it a class that works well with that particular group.
Or, who knows, maybe we'll decide to each go solo until the end of normal then focus on the later difficulties in a group.
Either way, probably not much Public play, and not much auction house play unless I find something completely useless to any present or future characters, or friends' characters.

I don't hate my parents, I don't get drunk just to spite them.
I have my own reasons to drink, I think I'll call my Dad up and invite him.
I would really like to play it solo first, but my GF and roommate are definitely getting the game so I can't really ignore them and I don't have enough free time to play both ways...
Either way, I'm going to try taking it slow so I can take note of all the details Blizz puts into their games.
I've given this a lot of thought...I'm gonna run a monk pretty fast through everything and use 'em to farm gear for all the other classes before i jump into 'em. One of the things I dug from Force's "Let's Plays" was his taking of the gear found from one run and throwing it over to the new character. I plan on doing that.
I'm going to create two characters right at start; the one that I will initially play just to feel the game and experience it, and the other to play with my friends. After that, will be all over the place.
I will prolly wander around online, with fast and furious killing, but slowing down to read up the lore and watch the cinematics.. atleast the first time through
I will play with friends, so I doubt I can take it slow, I think we will go through normal at a relatively moderate peace, but then we will just rush to inferno as fast as we can.

I plan to finish normal 1 or 2 day after release so that shouldn't be a problem to then allow some time for my friends.
