With it being so close to beta time I figured it'd be fun to look back at the day our long held hopes and assumptions were validated. Getting close my friends.
About that opening video... It's awesome and all, but I hate that music. It's reminiscent of crappy movie music by Hans Zimmer which I abhor. I hope none of that ends up in the game.

I don't particularly like the music either, but I love Hans Zimmer and I am appalled that you would compare his music to that lamness!
JERK.
But yeah that video is great! I watch it again every few months
Edit* Oh man, the cheering when Diablo's face shows up. CHILLS BRO.
"diablo...fuck yeah"-- so funny when the recorder says that in the video. I seriously think I said the same thing out loud to myself outloud when I saw the video. I can't believe how long its been since the announcement.

Did you honestly just say you abhor Hans Zimmer's music? The man behind titles such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Gladiator? Do you understand the meaning of the word "abhor?" The executive producers and art directors of those movies chose him for a reason. His music is known across the entire world, revered by aspiring composers and compared in a modern classical sense to the classical giants such as Beethoven. Hell, I have a clarinet-prodigy friend who is attending the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and I wouldn't be surprised if they studied some of Zimmer's works.
People are entitled to their opinions on music. Some simply have brains wired differently than others. But at the most basic level, compositions like the work of Zimmer and his partnership with Klaus Badelt are true genius -- defined in the sheer amount of time and cognitive ability it takes to painstakingly pieace together the epicness that fuels these massive movie scores.
Abhorring that is the mark of ignorance and bandwagon. Also, it sounds nothing like Zimmer. It uses prominent Vocalise style... more like a darker-themed Adiemus.
/end rant
I think the music did a good job at backing the video. When I first heard it, it really hit home, you know -- this is the premiere of Diablo III. I can't wait to see how the Diablo III music is composed -- how it changes in battles and between the atmospheres of each act. I have no doubt he'll pull from Diablo II while upping the ante further.

The final test of the Serpent's Form takes place in "The Pit of 12 Vipers." The initiates are not told about the 13th.
Pfft, and I thought I was over getting chills over that video.. Yeah right :xD:. You can feel the amazement in the room, then it all break into applause when Diablo appears..

I have to disagree with you on this one Cherub. While I'm not sure if that music would fit into many areas of gameplay, I feel for cinematic purposes it's hypnotizing.

Yep. My eyes were filled with bro tears . Same thing happened when I watched the SC2 intro trailer released in Korea, and also with the very first WoW cinematic.
OMG SO EXCITE!
