Any way to pre-order collector's edition and guarantee play day of release too (without having to buy more than 1 game)?
Amazon.com is the way to do that. I used amazon for WoW:wraith of the lich king, WoW: Cataclysm, and Starcraft 2. Every blizzard game i've ever ordered from there has been collectors and every order i've ever done from amazon had Release Date Delivery guaranteed. And every single time, it's made it to my house on the date of release.
So yeah, if anyone is worried about it being sold out in a store nearby or not being able to get it on the day of release, just wait for it to go on sale on amazon and choose release date delivery. They're really good about getting it to you on time.
I would think that too many people would buy the downloadable purchase from Blizzard, so when it opens for download... download speeds will be really low no matter what speed your internet is... I would not know how long before the midnight release the download would be available... But lets assume the download becomes available at midnight, just go purchase the game from gamestop... The download would take longer than driving to gamestop to pick it up... even if there is a line. But some countries get their copies before the states...As a result, I assume the download would be available during the earliest time horizon on the global grid. Midnight - Universal time clock? (UTC)Some research would need to be done, but I'm sure someone here already knows.
Thanks Gharbad. I trust you there. I guess I am just a bit hesitant because I once ordered from Amazon for WarHammer pre-order and they cancelled mine and many others' orders without telling us. I ended up picking up from GameStop the day of release. But maybe that was a one time thing for Amazon.
But as I said I live in the middle east, very far from the US. I assume it wont it the stores here at Day 1.
Would I get it from Amazon on the release date even if I live far from the US?
I dont mind waiting a couple of hours to get the CD instead of downloading from battle.net. But, I wouldnt like to have to wait for the game for weeks just because I made a mistake by ordering it.
The top 3 ways to get your Diablo III as fast as possible:
1) Go to a local GameStop at midnight
2) Download the client from battle.net
3) Pre-order on Amazon
In your case I'd say go for option #2, purchase and download the game digitally direct from Blizzard. It will most certainly be faster than shipping anything overseas.

What do you think?
I don't know what your internet speed is like... but you'll have to do a calculation in your head. I also don't know diablo's gig size... but lets assume its like starcraft and its around 12gb. Would it take longer to download it? or would it take longer to order it early and have it shipped when ready... You have the best answer to that question.
Yes, but I'm afraid that the fact that I live afar will make the shipping much longer...
I dont believe that the game would hit the stores here on the release date.
If pre-ordering from Amazon means that I would get it on the release date even though I live in the middle east, then it's a no-brainer.
I'm afraid not many people know what the delivery to that location is like... I would try calling amazon and asking. It couldn't hurt... Maybe even call blizzard support and ask... who knows. Good luck my friend
So do you think the better option for is to download it from battle.net?
How long before the actual release will I be able to pre-download/purchase it from battle.net?
I've been entering this site like 20 times for a day to see if there is anything new about the game.
I would be chewing my nails off if I wouldnt get my hands on it on the release date!
You download the download client to your computer. On the day of the release, I believe you use that downloader client to download the game to your computer. THEN once that is finished (known to take a while), you install the game, which can also take a while. But I think in the end it may be a better bet to just do that than order the game physically.. Then again I'm not too sure about how it works internationally, so you should probably call Amazon and find out if they can get it to you by release date.

Did you get an answer from Amazon?
I'd very appreciate it if someone could get me a response from that, I cant manage to contact them.
Amazon customer service rep said they offer the release date shipping option for many items internationally, but they cannot be sure if they will be doing that for Diablo 3 until Blizzard gives them a release date.

Actually if I remember correctly didn't Cataclysm let you download the game before the release and you only had to install it when it hit 12:01am on the night of release. My memory is a little fizzled but I remember me and my friends getting to play right as the servers went up. So that may or may not be the case with D3.
Let's say I do order it from Amazon.
They will have to ship the game a little before the actual release since the flight alone is like 12 hours.
Is that possible?

Yep, i'm pretty sure they do. They work with blizzard on their "release date shipping guarantee". Like i said a few posts back, i have yet to have Amazon not live up to that guarantee. I'll probably be getting mine through Amazon same as always.

Let's say I pre-order it now from Amazon, what would be the difference if I would pre-order it now when the release date is unknown, from let's say a week before the game is out?
(Here is the link: http://www.amazon.com/Diablo-III-Pc/dp/B00178630A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1311257335&sr=8-1).
What are the benefits of Pre-ordering the game anytime soon, and not ordering it when it's out?
What should I do to get the game the first day it's out?
