So in the gameplay trailer released way back when, there was a boss called "Thousand pounder, gluttony incarnate". And as we all know, Gluttony is one of the 7 deadly sins (As defined by the Roman Catholic church, the 7 sins that most people are familiar with).
Right now, we also know that Azmodan is the lord of sin, and he will be playing a large part in D3. So if we elaborate on this, does this mean that every sin will have an enemy to represent it ?
In case you are unfamiliar with what the 7 deadly sins are, they are as follows.. Lust Gluttony (Thousand Pounder) Greed Sloth Wrath Envy Pride
Just seeing those words makes SO many ideas jump to mind, the possibilities are endless !!
I dunno about you guys, but I'm 100% convinced that we will be getting an enemy for each sin, it makes perfect sense. If this thread lasts long enough, I'll update it if/when new bosses are announced. I've already got thousand pounder beside his corresponding sin, so theres 1 down, 6 more to go ! (sticky this perhaps ?)
But anyways, enough explaination, what are your ideas ? What do you think well be getting for the other sins ?
Sidenote : Gotta cradit ChaosReigns for this thread, his post inspired it ^^.

"One in every 10 million people can potentially have a headache from this pill." God forbid she is the 0.000000001% of having a headache.
Do we know that he will be playing a part (large or small) in D3? Really?
Yep, I'm pretty sure Blizzard has talked of the 2 lesser evils (Belial and Azmodan) playing a larger part in Diablo 3. I'll have to look for the interview when they talked of them though, I know I saw it somewhere...

Those sins aren't really sins. I don't like this idea.
They are sins :/. What makes you say they aren't ?
If you say that because they're defined by the Roman Catholic church, then yeah, I can understand where you're coming from. (I'm not Roman Catholic by the way, don't want it to seem like I am)
I used those sins are an example though, since most people are familiar with those sins, thus they are the ones Blizzard is most likely to use since more people could relate/connect/whatever to them.

Like I said I would LOVE this and it would make sense if Azmodan is going to be making an in-game appearance.
I have a few ideas.
Personally I would very much like to see thematic encounters revolving around the seven deadly sins demons. For example, for Greed, just outside of his lair is a room that you must pass through to reach it. It is filled with an enormous amount of gold. Now the natural player response would be to simply pick the gold up. However, if you leave the gold alone and simply pass through the room into Greed's lair he is much weaker than his "normal" self. However, he gets stronger and stronger the more gold you take until he is much more powerful than normal if you pick up all of the gold.
For Sloth (laziness) I'd like to see an obese demon (although not as obese as the Thousand Pounder) being carried on some sort of large-ish portable throne like thing, carried by many smaller demons, or perhaps indentured mortal slaves. The throne would look something like a Palanquin of Nurgle, if any of you guys are familiar with Warhammer. He can cast spells that make your character move more slowly (like being frozen in Diablo 2) and that drain your stamina (assuming stamina is in Diablo 3).
That's all I've got for now, I'll think about it some more.
I just think the theme of the seven deadly sins is distracting from the combined number of lesser and greater evils in the Diablo universe. It's just overkill. And it doesn't feel Diablo. The makers of Diablo were cooler to just come up with their own terms and not just cop out on the seven stupid deadly sins. Seriously, what is wrong with lust anyway?
Not saying that the game would have to focus on killing them, you're right, that would be pretty lame and distracting.
I'm saying that it would make a pretty nice side quest, or smaller boss battles throughout the game.
Hell, in the trailer we got 2 right after one another, so it looks like we may be getting more bosses than D2.
It could be an overarching type of quest to be completed throughout the game, not necessary to complete the game, but you can complete it as a bonus quest, like radament or izual.
Or, once you get to hell, you have to travel through 7 realms of it to get to Azmodan, defeating 1 of the sins in each one.

Sounds good as a side quest. The more unique boss fights we get, the better. I agree that those sins aren't really "deadly", rather they are just called deadly sins because thats what people believed years ago.

I don't mind as long as those seven mini-bosses were just a drop in the bucket of bosses that we encounter in D3. Just some spice on top of the bowl of spaghetti that is the plethora of new bosses. Just a... Well, I doubt there will be that many bosses, and I do agree that this idea will be lame if most of the focus turns out in that direction.
However I don't see it as a lame reference to Christianity. I just see it as a reference to popular culture. In the same way the movie Se7en operates on an arbitrary pattern that is indirectly related to an aspect of society.
It says "Gluttony Incarnate" as the mob description. It doesn't mean that the game will follow the whole pattern. Maybe just that one monster happens to be described that way by Sanctuary's denizens or something of that sort. That's how I would describe the monster seeing it for the first time, if I had a creative mind of a writer (Abd al-Hazir)?
I guess Diablo Fiend conclusion is a bit to "forced". Wrath fits Mephisto better then Baal imo and the association of pain and sloth is quity fragile.
I think the 7 Great Evils are not a derivation of the 7 deadly sins. They had created their own Great Evils.
But I kind of like tne idea of Azmodan's lieutenants represent the seven deadly sins, but i don't see it as a "must" have in the game.
And the deadly sins are deadly because they cannot be fogiven without the confession sacrament. The seven sins had birth in the Greek philosophy, though there their were more and better elaborated, and used by some pope as a list of the sins that defy the love. Though i do not agree with the list.

Faded out her voice and soiled her name
And like marked pages in a diary
Everything seemed clean that is unstained
The incoherent talk of ordinary days

Decide what is clear and what's within a haze
What you should take and what to give" - Opeth

Plus it all just reminds of me of that shitty movie Seven. And no, I'm not gonna spell it the way the movie does. So stupid.

i think he was pride or something xD
maybe if they include some of the other ones as mini bosses like in the demo thousand pounder
i suppose the idea where you gotta fight the 7 deadly sins in a kinda boss after boss thing could work when you have to defeat diablo again lol
since ppl in the past feared falling victim to these sins
and the last sin could be diablo =3
Be my Buddy =^.^=
i meant in the 7 sins
thats him in the video games
in the sins above he is pride =3
