If or when Diablo III is released. Will they go with the monthly free like is WoW or will they stick with the original free online. It has been around 6 years since the newest Diablo. Just wandering what you think?
i dont think there will be a monthly fee only because its not an MMORPG you have a limited amount of people playing with you at a time and its also on a main story line unlike wow you can (in a way) beat this game in WoW you play with everyone on servers WoW is an mmo and there isnt really a main story line for WoW so its continuous quests and everything. im not saying diablo 3 is limited to an ending for the game and then its done im just saying that you dont play it like you would in WoW that is why i dont think there will be a fee to play monthly

I am hoping there is some sort of monthly fee, and that the fee goes towards eliminating dupes, hacks, etc and ongoing content. I have also found that free online games are often filled with more undesirables (a.k.a BNET kiddies) than pay to play games. However, I would be happy with a model similar to Diablo2, if it means that game is actually coming out

i somewhat disagree because WoW has monthly fees and you can still get hacked same with x box live and stuff like that people get hacked and lose all of what they spent there money on so if we pay a monthly fee for something and then get hacked all of our money whent to waste and nothing else.....i mean, am i wrong?

You people complaining about monthly fees, get a job.
hey not everyone is lucky now a days ass hole and we prob do have jobs but what happens if you lose your acc and all the money you spent all goes to waste and not everyone has money to spend on video games for there hole life most people are paying there morgage on there houses like your parents (who you prob still live with) pays for you to live in their house and let you play on the computer all day....so dont be saying that cause your most likely wrong...krusher79 is right you know most people dont have time to be playing these games 24/7 i believe you should pay at the end of the month depending on how much you played during the month. for example you play 15 days out of 30 you should pay half of the hole month and if you dont play at all then dont get charged anything so you only get charged for the days you actually spend playing the game for each individual month.

First thing is first, Battle.net 2.0 will cost something no matter what. It may not cost us, but it will cost somebody. Jay Wilson has already stated that yes, they will need money to keep Battle.net 2.0 running (just as Battle.net did), but at this time they are not 100% sure where they are going to get that money from. They could technically cut their losses and take it out of the WoW subscriptions, however being a business that is probably not something they want.
One big thing they could do to at least help pay for Battle.net 2.0 is advertisement. Remember those ads on the top of the screen when you logged into Battle.net? People have to pay to put those there, and when you have so many people playing a game it can be a great source of advertisement for bigger companies, even if its going to cost you a bit. You don't usually see those ads in WoW because we pay for it directly, but you always saw those on Battle.net. Ads paid for Battle.net, but 2.0 might cost them a little more to keep running (especially with all this fancy anti-hack defenses going on). Ads may or may not pay for it all, depending on how much they make advertisement on 2.0. They might even decide to put multiple ads there at once so they can get more companies to advertise there. Hopefully it wouldn't take too much out of the UI, but it would help a lot when it comes to cutting costs for them. There are other things they can do to pay for it as well, but I can't think of any off the top of my head. I am sure Blizzard will find something.
That all being said, I highly doubt Blizzard is going to make us pay anything unless they really have to. That was and (hopefully) will always be the beauty of Battle.net, you never had to pay a penty to get online and have fun with your friends. May free online gaming live on for eternity.

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.

You are certainly not wrong. However, if a monthly fee would bring the level of hacking/duping that is going on now in the free Diablo2 to the level of WoW, I would gladly pay it. Throw in ongoing content and it would be even better. Of course, $15 a month or whatever WoW is these days would probably be too much, but $5 seems reasonable to me.
With that said, I doubt that hacking/duping will be as much as a problem with bnet2 and I would be fine with the pay for expansion model rather than smaller ongoing content additions.
