honestly i think the problem is the gift itself. Its so powerful that its required. and spending it when you get a decent, but not great weapon feels bad if you end up getting a better weapon moments later which is bound to happen after you "waste" your gift. or if you get a good weapon but don't have a gift that rolls a natural socket, you feel obligated to not roll the worst stat to something better because then you're stuck with the socket and can't use a gift on it later. There are too many situations where the gift ends up feeling like a punishment vs a reward.
One solution, make the gift something you can gamble for with bloodshards. Have a 'trinket' option for 25 blood shards that can give you a random gem as a basic reward, or a chance a a legendary non player gear item, like a follower trinket, or legendary potion, or gift.
another solution would be to change what the gift does. Rather than adding a socket, how about adding another primary affix?(same end result) They could be made a bit more common, and you could use multiple gifts on the same weapon similar to how enchanting works, but each use would erase the old affix added with the gift.
Boon of the hoarder + T6 = gold is useless, I'd prefer it to be like jewelry rerolls, 1 flawless royal of all types = 1 gift or similar, but then you'd just gg with broken and gem goblins.

Best idea proposed so far.
Not 100% sure about the tuning, but you could certainly come up with a blood shard price that would be fair.
Season 2 -- 503 Paragons - I looted 1 - had one mercy given to me as that player had 10 already at Paragon 250.
Why in the world is the drop rate so screwy? I've looted more highly desired ancient weapons (Anc. Furnace, Anc. Torch, Anc. Inna Diabo) then Ram. Gifts. That's insane.
A 500 million gold price seems good to me for one.
If people that find good (ancient) weapons get to buy a gift to use on it, I, finding a lot of gifts but no good ancient weapons, demand an option to buy the weapons I need to use them on. And while we're at it, maybe even the other gear that goes with it? Maybe, to balance it, you can only buy items that did drop in the game and not being used by other players, as a kind of gold sink, 15% of the price disappears? And make a nice UI for it to make it easy to search for all that.
Thanks.
There is a lot of sarcasm in this post, but now the problem is that people are lacking gifts. Once that is "solved", they will be lacking something else, you only move the problem, don't fix it. Either everything is RNG and get lucky to loot it, or you can buy/trade everything. (I did love the AH with a wide range of possible stats, and still miss it. The entire stream community around D3 died with the auction house, since you can't really give people advice or help them build sets, like streamers used to do, they have to get lucky on drops. But: all or nothing, not just buying 1 thing)
I've actually stopped playing the last couple of weeks and Ramaldni's is one of the issues I have . I have not seen a single one drop since November , sorry just can't keep playing for 0 rewards anymore so taking a long break .
to me it feels like the current system doesnt really support build diversity. the weopon you used your ramaldnis on will be your weopon for some time, if you liek it or not.

If you read patch notes, then you will know that they either will, or won't, stack in the next patch. (Hint: They stack to 100 in the next patch).
Just like everything in this game Gift has terrible RNG. I see people with like 20 of them stored and Ive found one during this season....
