I know that if you want something done you should do it yourself but sadly I am not equipped to do that but I was wondering if someone who did would be able to help out other players with a reference guide for some players to help show them where and how they should work up their stats.
For example at level 40 one should have a range of xx-xx vital, yyy-yyy defense and a range of zzz-zz attack to help them in Nightmare,
at 50 having xx vital, yy def, zz attack would be helpful,
Etc, this way new players to reach that level know where they stand, know how and why they are getting demolished when entering a new difficulty and the like.
I don't think every level is necessary but maybe every 5 levels after 30 or even 30, 40, 45, 50, 55, and maybe 60 (which might be harder being that has a larger range as you get the most gear range on that level).
Sorry to pass the job to someone else but min-maxing in any game was never my strong point and doing it myself would only get wrong info. Anyone who would take the time would be greatly appreciated.

I agree with feminism. I don't think that it's right that for every dollar a man makes, a women gets 70 cents. Why do I only get 30 cents and some chick gets the rest?
Below 40 buy weapons with sockets every 5-10 lvls and put flawless square ruby gem in, mid 40's start looking for a lvl 60 weapon with reduced lvl requirement. That's all you really need to blow things up while leveling, other gear doesn't matter that much.
Well, I'm basically just asking what I should be expecting my stats should be at any given level range, to see if I'm up to par, or where exactly I am lacking. Am I dying because I am not killing them fast enough and need more DPS or because my armor is too low.. and speaking of which how would I know whether I need more defence or just more HP?

There are no general stat requirements, not even by broad range. There are too much variables to consider: player skill, class, build, playstyle, etc.
You didn't specify anything
But leveling content is very easy. Just do what phuzi0n said, and you'll be overgeared most of the time. If you die a lot get some armor and health, if things don't die fast get some damage. Low level gear is very cheap on the AH, you can get all the gold while progressing (just don't waste it on the Artisans).
