OK its obvious there are ZERO moderators on the Diablo 3 official forums. The entire first like 15 pages are nothing but "OMG this game blows ass ROFL all u wasting ur time" posts. Now either these people are butthurt because they cant get out of Act 1 because they fail or they actually have valid points. Granted most of them are comparing this game to D2, which I only played for 30 minutes because the graphics and character control were both terrible. Honestly I thought it was just horrible even for when it was released. I mean Ultima Online was a click to move, 2D, dungeon crawl game that came out 3 years prior and it was far better looking with better character control. So I dont get all the D2 hype.
So is Blizzard aware that a lot of people are unhappy with the game and will they do anything about it? I actually enjoy the game because I grew up on grind games. Whether I was playing Ultima Online farming Shame elementals for 4-5 hours a day or playing my bard and provoking dragons in Destard all day. Also played Everquest for 7 years hardcore then another 3 off and on casually when I switched to WoW. EQ made Korean games look like easymode their grind was so long. Im guessing all the hate is from WoW carebears who expected this to be a WoW single player clone where they hit 60 in 2 days and then got showered in ilvl 63 loot then facerolled through Inferno in a day. Then when they realized that wasnt going to happen they all hit the forums.
D2 was never about the graphics. It's sheer awesomeness transcended any need for high-end visuals....thus why it retained a loyal following long after the technology for the game had become antiquated.
D2 had the most diverse itemization of any game ever conceived. Oh, and the 'wild-west' PvP was a friggin blast.
They're gonna tweak skill numbers which will probably throw a wrench in the current "skill metagame", and which could also change how we value items.
Legendaries are getting a complete rework, so expect to see more of those (and hopefully with more interesting effects/affixes).
Then the next big patch is going to be the PvP one, which will again throw a wrench in what we consider useful skills and items, because of how much different playing against other players is compared to playing against predefined AI behaviours/numbers.
Now if you're talking about changes on what 40% of the playerbase wants to be one way, and 40% wants to be another (with 20% not caring), then the answer is probably not. That's precisely what Blizzard considers balance
.You see people complaining the game's too easy, then the game's still too hard. You see people complaining there's nothing else to do, then people complaining about how leveling is boring. You see people complaining gold has no value, you see people complaining they have no gold.
Go to any game forum and you will see people bitching and complaining. Doesn't matter what Blizzard changes b/c the level of bitch and complain will remain the same.
They really need to fix the AH also. No one can afford anything when the items you need to be able to farm Acts 3/4 are all 50+ mil each yet you will never make that because no one is buying anything you can put up. I was having to sell items with 70+ resist all, another resists, a high primary stat and a high vit for only like 50-100k for anyone to buy it.. At that rate I will need to sell 100 items to afford ONE upgrade at current prices. Cant afford to buy gear because you cant sell the gear you get to be able to save up for the gear you need. Blizzard needs to remove that catch 22 immediately thats one main reason people are probably quitting. Right now you have 3 choices if you want to progress if you have horrible RNG luck like me.
1. Buy items using RMAH
2. Buy gold using RMAH to afford insanely inflated prices on GAH
3. Quit and wait for GW2

Great they buff Legendaries, which will be 50-200 mil each on the AH and no one can afford them because they will still drop at like a .00000000000000000000001% chance.

Everyone's playing the same game. If some people are having success doing it (and these probably can buy 200 mil legendaries) and some people are having problems, maybe it's time for them to review their game knowledge.
I really doubt an item with high mainstat, high vit and 70 resist all is selling for 100k, or I'd have all my characters geared out with those. Maybe what you see as "high mainstat" is actually only 80, with the item being able to have upwards of 150-180.
Also, some items have other very desirable and specific stats. If you're selling amulets with those stats, maybe it's because people are looking for crit-chance/crit-dmg/atkspeed on them (basically some stats that you can't get on most other items, just rings/gloves/amulets)

so some people have figured out how to beat RNG? Cause thats the only way to get good enough drops to sell. For example have IDed probably 50 ilvl 63 weapons this weekend from farming. Only one sold on the AH and only for 150k. And thats wearing 285% MF with 5 stacks

What kind of items are you buying? If you expect to sit down in one sitting and have all of your gear than yes, you will pay out the ass for it. I've gathered my items from the AH a little at a time and with about 10-15mil can solo act 3, act 4, and inferno diablo easy as a barb.

I fail to understand how your "good" items are only worth 50-100k, but the "good" items that other people are selling are worth 50+ mil. There is a gap in logic there, either that or your "good" items aren't as "good" as you think they are.

Yeah, that's it. Some people have figured out a way of making the most out of their RNG. It doesn't matter if they're lucky with drops or not, it's what they do with what's given to them that matters.
I haven't gotten any item worth more than 1 mil in the past week or so, but I definitely have found great bids on the AH and got some 1.5 mil stuff for 100-150k. Also, while most people vendor all items below lvl 60, I pay attention if their stats are desirable, if they're any good, I'll put them up on the AH (sometimes for as high as 60-70k if it's a great belt/boot/amulet) and it will sell instantly to people leveling alts, mostly because that market isn't as saturated as the lvl 60 (ilvl 60-61) market.
It might seem dumb making 20-50k profit on an auction, but that's 100% guaranteed, and I've made at least 2-3 million gold like that already. 10 good low lvl item sells for ~50k is ~500k gold, and a lot of people are too lazy to take advantage of that. Better for those who do
I'm one whose beaten the game on Inferno and feels there's little endgame after that but I doubt they'll realistically be able to do anything about it besides PvP. Bashiok said they're not the WoW team, they're not getting sub money every month, and it wasn't like they were planning on working on additional content besides PvP. What I'm hoping is that they change their minds about not balancing PvP and decide to make it competitive. I'm not a major PvPer but its better than nothing and it'll buy them enough time if they decide to impliment a less PvP focused endgame somewhere much further down the road. But yea, as it stands I don't see any reason to login until something substancial happens, my friends have mostly given up but I'm holding out hope.
Auction house simulator 2000 hahahahah.. I guess deep down we always knew that it was going to be like this. D3 couldn't have the drop rates D2 had, with the way people play games nowadays and with the existence of a simple to use AH.
It's the consequence of having a real economy, with gold that's actually worth something (unlike in D2).
If we had drop rates similar to D2 (and specific places to farm for specific uniques as we did) people would just complain how easy-peasy the game is. Hell, a ton of people already do that, that the game's too easy and there's nothing to do, imagine if we could achieve 100% gear efficiency and max power in 2 months. Although people complain as well that if they beat Diablo on Inferno there's nothing else to do (well, to each their own).
And despite all that I don't think the hack and slash gaming experience is crippled to me at all.
While I make decent use of the AH, that doesn't mean I don't play the game. I do kill stuff, and a lot of it, and I thoroughly enjoy every single champ pack that comes across. Whenever I think "ok I got this, Desecrator's easy all I gotta do is this" then comes a specific enemy type with Desecrator, Jailer, Waller, Nightmarish that simply throws a wrench in my plan of "Serenity can save me from Desecrators".
I get your point, I truly do. It's really hard to get upgrades from playing the game unless you use the AH. And it's nearly impossible to progress if you don't get the correct upgrades at fair prices. But I think there isn't much Blizzard can do right now without making the "hardcore gaming community" (you know, those "elite" players who complained that Inferno was being made easier and drops were being tweaked) go into outrage mode yet again.
Nothing meaningful is going to be done. The folks that left / are leaving probably won't be back unless it's to check out an expansion, and the folks who still love the game probably want minor tweaks at best.
I think the huge difference between D2 and D3 is how you progress. In D2 regardless of what gear you acquired progression didn't end when you killed diablo or baal in hell. You could still keep leveling your character to 99. In D3 once you hit max level your character progresses by acquiring items which can be done without even playing the actual game. You can deck out your alt with all ilvl 63 items as soon as it hits 60. There's zero endgame replayability. Atleast in D2 when you finished playing your character and made a new one. Even if you bought the best gear possible for your alt you still had to actually play it if you wanted to get it to 99. unless you botted to 99 >_> I don't know about all of you but generally when i play a game doesn't matter what genre. A good game gets me so addicted it's all i can think about all day and i'll sit there and play for hours on end till my eyes bleed. I'm definitely not addicted to D3 =( i want to be i've been waiting 10 years to be...

Who cares if they piss off a small minority of players? elite players a a small minority now. The days of people raiding 6 days a week in Everquest and being online for 8 hours a day are long gone. If the game is made better who cares if some elitists quit? Its not like they are gonna lose sub money over it. Im not saying Legendaries and set pieces should drop off every other mob but I had over 400 hours played and only got 2 both of which I vendored because they were crap so in reality I got none.
And yes it is IMPOSSIBLE to progress in this game through Inferno without ever touching the AH. Also skipping every elite pack and rushing bosses doesnt count as you skip half the game. Im talking Act 1-Act 4 without skipping anything and killing every single boss with 5 stacks. You would be so broke from repair bills you would be forced to buy gold to pay repairs. The fact that they raised the repair costs even means they dont want you to progress using only gear you collected along the way.
I just tried it on my new account so I know it cant be done. I started dieing in Act 2 Nightmare while collecting Kulle's parts all over the place because I only used what I found for drops and what I got off NPC vendors. I had to have public groups carry me through Act 2. Then I died even more in Act 3 because the mobs are so stacked so eventually I was forced to buy gear off the AH. The only way you could ever beat the game without ever touching the AH is just have public groups carry you the entire way.
Getting gear shouldnt revolve around how well you can play the AH as not everyone can do it. Im horrible at the AH why the hell should that affect how well I perform in game? It should be about killing mobs and getting loot. This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of in a game. I mean why not just remove mobs from the game completely and just rename this from Diablo 3 to Auction House Online. Not to mention people running AH bots like Deckard Coin makes things even worse.

OK so how does Blizzard fix it so the game is better? Or was D3 just some joke they gave people to keep the occupied until MoP was released?

Solo'd up till A3 hell on my first monk notwink/trade when I was still learning how to play the game. This has more to do with your class, build, or maybe you than your gear.
Yes Blizzard will make changes. No, not everyone will like them. Those that don't will run to the internet and cry foul. Those that enjoy the game will continue to play it, more than likely quietly and content. The cycle will continue ad nauseam.

A monk? really? You have a pet that can tank for you for a short period to get your CDs back and does decent damage, a heal from a spell and a mantra, a bubble, and tons of dodge and armor from passives. Monks are probably the least gear dependant and easiest to class to play until Inferno. My first class was a monk so i know. It was total faceroll which was why I was so shocked when I hit Inferno and just got curb stomped by whites because I just figured it would still be easy. All you need is two weapons which is all I seemed to get while leveling. Then just buy gear off the NPC merchants as you can just relog over and over until hes selling vit gear and then buy rings/amulets off the other guy with dex/vit
