hello, ive been searching on google for about 40 min and can only find info on the May 2nd D2 ladder reset and it got me to thinking.
Does anyone know if blizz plans to have some sort periodic item/character reset for D3 as they do with D2 every few months?
it seems to me that with the AH now that the game servers will quickly become flooded with items and after a few months things wont have value anymore.
thanks for the responses. the reason i was thinking it was because they didnt introduce the ladder to D2 until patch 1.10 but the point of people losing real money from the AH makes alot of sense thanks.
Doesn't a ladder reset wipe all your characters and items on the stash? Or only the characters? I'm confused by the previous posts.
If it wipes any items at all, then people are losing money and getting screwed. If it's only the characters, why even have the ladder reset? Just to force everyone to level up from scratch? If people wanna do that, they can just delete their characters manually and do it themselves.
Neither of which will happen. Simply because there is no ladder in D3. If they introduce a ladder based on Inferno monster kills or something like that, and the reset only deletes that number, maybe? But I fail to see the point for that as well.
If anything, we need a PvP ladder. PvP will be turned into a competitive gamemode no matter how much they fight against it, there's just too much will in some members of the community.

They will not wipe items/characters.
Since some stats are random on all the items there will always be a hunt for the perfect rolled item.
Reset (character/item wipes) will not happen in Diablo 3, there might be a ladder of some sort that tracks players PVE achievements, at least i don't believe blizzard has confirmed or denied such a feature.
The ladder system was put into place to stop the hacked item influx
What do you mean? Ladder was there since day 1, when the game was released. Actually even before that, since there were already ladders in the beta/stress test.
Sorry, I meant the frequent resets. It clears the slate to try and reduce the impact of hacked items on the community who want to try and take the game a little more seriously.
From what I understand there is no planned ladder for D3. Nothing like D2's ladder anyways. They'll have an achievement system but nothing that resets or anything. I cannot remember exactly where I heard this, but I could have sworn it was a Blizzard source.
