I know that the most efficient way of getting an ancient item with the right rolls is to reroll it untill you get one. But to be honest I really don't like doing bounty runs. For me it is too much forced and not 'aRPGious' enough. I should be able to find my upgrades via rifts and GR runs, at least that is more fun to me. And now the question: do you think that avoiding bounties compleatly could still be somehow viable in terms of getting desired loot? Or would it take too much time?
sure, run tons of 70-80 = more legendaries and more shards. To be honest cube recipes are the big deceit, did abount 30k bounties(in profile) but haven't rerolled smth decent at all, always wrong or poor procs

I think nobody is a big fan of bounties. But you can think this about yourself. What item do you need? If it would be for example a perfectly rolled furnace. You should do bounties. The droprate for this item is so low and if you make bounties, say 4 t13 bounties in one hour you will have the chance to reroll this item 12 times. The chance to get an ancient furnace is very high. And this is just --one hour-- of playing.
But if you take for example the average bracers (lets exclude good secondary rolls, as needed for some builds) you will get ancient and good one easily just by farming.
So what i do most of the time is getting my ancient weapon per bounties relatively early in the season (for some its even easier to do this with death breaths (e.g. DH dagger (50% chance to roll) and then just farm.
Later bounties will become important. I just played solo this season. My crusader has paragon 1050 and i am solo rank 70 with a 95 GR rift and i did just like 30 bounty runs this season (all to get a good shield, which i did not get ;D).
So short: If you do not want to do bounties, then just play. you can still do relatively well. Just for the weapon it might be important. But on the otherh and it does not hurt that much to do some bounties a week (especially since next season nobody can fail to hand in :D).
The one thing that bothers me is the fact that I will end up with massive amount of forgotten souls. I can burn other materials easily but FS will just pile on and on. Any ideas what to do with em?
If you need to farm any hellfire amulets you can use FS for those. Although good news is if you are concerned about the stash space the FS take up that won't be a problem next patch.

and here we wait for Angryroleplayer's response.
My answer is no. you need bounty mats and specific bounty loot to progress in the game. Illusory Boots are needs for every LoN build and every zdps build.
Bounty mats are needed for gear reforging. There's already a thread topic about this, but it says based on the loot table when you should reforge vs. upgrade a rare. 10%+ you upgrade a rare. -10% you reforge. Lets say you wanted a specific ceramic knife. The thing is there are only so many Ceramic knives in the game. Just use "hope of cain" to upgrade a bunch of rares. But says you wanted thorn dmg on Belt of the trove. There is alot of belts and BotT only has like a 1.64% drop rate. Its best to just reforge it.

FWIW I know quite a few people who don't do bounty runs, or at least none after they get their ancient weapon. Loot drops very freely at high GRs, and eventually you will get all the drops you need, especially if you play in high GR 4 mans. If you play with an efficient group it is probably more time efficient to rip of a bunch of Greater Rifts than to spend the equivalent time doing bounties with pugs.
Let's face it, once you are doing 80s or higher, you are getting close to an Ancient per run, and it just takes time to get the ones you need. If you are in a group that freel y trades or a clan group, its even easier.
ancient gloves with rerolled mainstat are so rare, that you must be happy even with non-ancient one) also 20//100/10 sunwuko amulet or 100/10/8 tal'rashas) sure it's cool to have ancient, but the chances are really close to 0

Thank you for your answers Guys, great feedback

reroll set into set for 10 souls and 10 db, it is useful for staff like TalRasha's amulet or tri/quadro affix gloves)

That is correct. It was too easy to get a decent ancient that way in the past.
