The 64 bit client is not working properly. It did not work right on PTR either. When playing solo it seems to do fine, but as you add players to the party, the fps lag gets progressively worse. From what I notices using gpu-z, the gpu utilization is very inconsistant and drops to low levels frequently. So the game does not seem to be loading the gpu fully when using the 64 bit client while playing in a party. Changing back to the 32 bit client seems to solve the problem. Hopefully Blizzard will resolve the issue as the graphics do look noticeably better in 64 bit, just not good enough to deal with the fps lag.
I keep dropping to below 10 FPS where before this update I had 80+
I hope its fixed before the new season starts because this is un-playable.
Again, all you have to do is go out to the battlenet launcher and have it start d3 in the 32 bit client. This will fix the frame drops until they fix the 64 bit client.
I had zero issues, though i played only solo. To me it looks more like some options are not working correctly - i have everything maxed out and didn't get any issue, but again, i played solo.

Yeah on PTR I did not have any issues when playing solo. It was only when I partied up that I starting having the fps lag. The larger the party the more fps lag I would get.
Try leaving *all* your communities chat channels or, if that doesn't help, the communities itself.
Davlok posted this on Reddit and it seems to fix it for most people. It's very annoying though if you are in some invite-only communities, but it does seem to do the trick for now.
I made a similar threat, thankgs Bagstone for directing me here. Yes I am having dreadful stuttering even when i lower the visual details. Updated Nvidia driver, about to leave all community chats and test again.

I have played alot of diablo 3 before whit no lagg at all. 250 fps and 50-60 ping. After the start of this season the game has become unplayable.. even the film in the diablo window of the battle.net launcher is lagging. the game starts at 60 ping then just turns "red" and jumps to 1500 then slowly dropps to around 450-500 ping. this takes 1 min after i start a game. im curently running Diablo 3 v2.4.3.42934. newest G-force driver and m.2 hd. 2x 980 ti. and 1200 W psu and ofc i7 and all that shitt. (not hardware problem) i have tried every forum fix ther is and the problem is still there.... uninstallign/reinstalling (game/nettwork drivers/motherbord drivers etc.) cmd re rout commands and everything. nothing is working.
Diablo 3 is the only game that has this issue. (wow, SC2, HoTS, overwatch) works fine, so does all the other games i play on steam etc.
Can some one pleeeeeez help me?

Had zero issues before. I played the PTR and it was better than what it is now.
Currently lagging on the menu screen, in game etc.
Anyone else?
Heard a few others are and switched back to 32 bit and it is running fine.

That's good to know, that actually just leaving the chat might be enough. I'd hate to leave and re-join all communities. Updated my post.
lol it works) thx Bagstone and Davlok)

Luckily my drop isn't as bad as others. Its drops to 70 fps. useless its closer to 200 max.
The Dx11 support was much needed. we can finally see the textures of the gear when we dye it now. Instead of a blob of red, blue, gold, etc.
