I asked this question on the official D3 forums yesterday, with mixed results. I figured I'd get a better discussion going here.
I'm just wondering if we'll encounter the Sisters of the Sightless Eye in the new game...I don't recall hearing anything about them since D3 was announced. Granted, the storyline is being kept under very tight wraps, but consider the role they've played in the series thus far:
In D1, they were an actual playable class.
In D2, you spent the first part of the game helping them reclaim their monastery.
In short, their story is part of the overall story, and is apt to appear again. If you returned to Akara after leaving Act 1, she would tell you that the Rogues were "still clearing the Monastery", which indicates to me that the survivors were preparing to return there.
And since the Monastery guards the only passage East...it seems inevitable that we would meet some Rogues in the new game, since both "New Tristram" and the desert regions seem to be part of the storyline.
I hope we meet some, would be a shame to see them excluded from D3.
My money is on seeing them in New Tristram, possibly even lurking around the ruins of Old Tristram.

Even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could
there better be
i always got the rogue hire named Kyle
they are sentimental to me lol
Mine was named Fiona. I called her Fiownage.
I hope theres rogues, they've been in the game since Diablo 1, I don't think Blizzard would leave them out of the game without at least giving some information about them.
I think it would be hard to come back without a rogue in the game, that would be silly. They are diversifying NPCs across the board, I can almost guarantee we will see at least ONE rogue, if not more in the monastary.

There are no stupid questions, just a bunch of inquisitive idiots.
I think it would be cool to have them in the game again; I'm really interested to learn more about their story. Like you said they have been a constant in the Diablo universe
I never thought of the rogues as a terribly important faction in terms of the big picture of Sanctuary. They always seemed more like a little archer guild out of many others in Khanduras with their own religion to boot than anyone important.
But if we're going to be hanging around New Tristram, there is a chance that we'll meet some and maybe we'll even be able to re-visit their Monastery and see how they managed to rebuild themselves. I just hope that Blizzard doesn't make an entire act revolving around them like in Diablo 2 because although that was fine in Diablo 2, I don't think I'd want to be in their company for too long a time in Diablo 3. They are a bit generic.
I agree that they'll be rogues in D3, probably as hireable NPCs like in D2. Sure they got owned by the demons in the last game, but maybe they'll redeem themselves this time?

What do you all think?
"Eternal suffering would be too brief for you, Diablo!"
