I have 2 items that increase my arcane damage so I went from the basic fire wizard build to arcane, anything anyone can give me tips on with passives or my build in general? I like to not die so I'd like to keep my survival spells. I'd also like to keep my wave of force/black hole bonus damage because I can't afford to re-enchant everything (again).
I feel like I do less damage from the fire build I was using but I can't be sure. My magic missiles definitely hits a lot harder.
Not sure if your profile just hasn't updated or I just missed it but I only see Moonlight Ward for + arcane damage. Until you get enough pieces to make a full set of arcane gear I'd just stick with what you're playing now. Moonlight Ward is a great ammy even without a bunch of extra + arcane damage, It's basically a free damage sheild that hits like a truck. The thing procs all the time too, you'll have close to 100% uptime with it if you play a melee/tank build.
That being said, most arcane wizards are going for vyr's sets for archon, or you can just go for the disintegrate{entropy} build. with entropy your playstyle would be similar to a wizard using electrocute{arc lightning} the damage cone and radius are very similar as far as range goes, the big difference being that electrocute is free to cast and entropy requires some arcane power management.
I changed some stuff around, I took shadows advice and went disintegrate (and I love it though it's hard to see how much it actually does considering its core damage is white hits), I'm curious about this though does crit do nothing for it then? Also I'm working towards getting Vrys 4 set (I'll change to archon from explosive blast when I do) and TalRash 2 set (along with thunderfury/shard of hate) . Ignore the chant on the helm, I can't change it (2 million gold to re-enchant) lolnty.
Anyone have any idea which is better? Explosive blast - Unleashed, or Black Hole - Spellsteal?
Blackhole is always a good spender to have, it bunches mobs up making it easy to nuke them all down plus it frees you up from taking melee damage from them for 2 seconds which is huge with alot of life on hit. I run with supermassive because i'm running a lightning build plus it has bigger range and bunches a bunch more mobs up. Can also go with Event Horizon to get rid of annoying walls/bad stuff. Pretty much all the runes for blackhole are useful.
Black hole followed by 5 very quick charges of Electrocute, which (through arcane dynamo) make the entire channeling period of Disintegrate do 60% extra damage. The 1-2 seconds of using Electrocute also make me stand in place which adds the Unwavering Will bonus. I'm usually also pretty close so Audacity helps (I prefer it over Glass Cannon since I don't lose defense) and The speedy killing adds dominance very fast
Magic Weapon and Familiar also boost my damage while I prefer Storm Armor over Energy Armor so I Don't lose Arcane Power and can channel my powered up Disintegrate even longer (+ it adds to my AP regen)
@Shadow, Idk, black hole is good for that but at the same time, the explosive blast hits VERY hard, like 15 mill to all enemies around me. It's like do I go for massive damage or a nice defensive.
@Limdul, I hate teleport actually, I tried using it but for defensive it doesn't suit me well, I hate 'running away' and being on the other side of the room or somewhere where I'm positioned not to my liking. I'd really rather just have my passives be defensive so I don't have to worry about anything and just pew pew. As for the Fire damage on the bracers I can't really get rid of it because I am poor and I already enchanted into the 6% crit.... Rerolling stats is such a pain in the ass... an expensive pain in the ass.
@Undrtaker, I burn through T1 and T2, I do okay on T3 though some elite combos we have a hard time with, and T4 is just a slow grind. I run with a barb most of the time so he does a good job of keeping everything in the bad so I can stand just outside of it. I think it's just maybe because you don't have any gear to build around, but I feel like your build is very back and forth. I like to keep all my spells in one element if I have +(element) bonus, going lightening and then arcane seems redundant to me when you could just be getting bonus damage on all your spells. I don't like arcane dynamo too because I don't really play solo and if I sat there and tried to build it up everything would be dead. Especially considering I have mirrorball I should be using the bonus with it and for me I can use my disintegrate for a fairly long time without having to left click, the left click is just filler for like 2 or 3 seconds and it still hits like a truck (2-4 mill per missile and I have 3).
Well if you got a wand of woh, explosive blast would be the obvious choice there heh, explosive blast does hit hard. I've found wave of force to be a nice filler, has the same radius and is highly spammable plus it doesn't interupt your main skill much. You'll just have to screw around with skills and see what works best for you. It's all trial and error really. The build I use was just a combination of skills i ended up liking best.
T1 build - max dps, burn through everything using wave of force (trash and blue elites) and missile for single targets(lone yellow elite, guardians, bosses). Nothing complicated here.
>T3 build - oculus is amazing, go in group of mobs, start casting, stun mobs with calamity - rinse and repeat since Oculus effect procs VERY OFTEN so I always have teleport at hand.
Frankly I don't know what people consider "burning through" - for me it's clearing whites in one hit and elites in ~5s (which I do in T1). I'm reluctant to play higher torments atm ( even though I have a viable build and elites take like 15-20s to kill on t3 tops) because I think it's inefficient. Also I have no idea in which direction to go - I really want to get 3 pieces of Tal Rasha so I would burn through those higher torments but they just won't drop for me. ATM I have no idea what else to do. Any suggestions?
My "BiS" list consists of the Vyrs 3 piece set (legs, gloves, boots) (with the Ring of Royal Grandeur so I don't need all four items), and then Tal Rash 3 piece set (helm, belt, chest) (again with the Ring I get 4 set bonus without all of the items), and keeping moonlight ward. Then maybe try and get filler items for the rest. I feel like having both 4 set bonus from both sets will be very OP for an arcane build. Archon will replace my blackhole/explosive blast as I feel Archon with all runes in arcane spec sounds broken (in a good way). I'd like to keep my mirrorball/Orpheus wand as they both work very well for arcane spec. I really like the magic missile damage. I had oculus and I got rid of it because I was despo for a forgotten soul and I never use teleport (now I regret it haha).
I still need Ring of Jordan, and I'd probably switch out my Wand of Woh with Gesture every once in awhile just for funsies (if I get it).

PS: How do people manage to stay alive while playing without teleport? I wouldn't know how to play without it.
Good for murdering T1, a bit slower on T2, but not good enough for t3+ yet
