I'm not an expert on monks, but there's a certain legendary fist weapon that increases lightning damage quite substantially, and that damage doesn't appear on the char sheet. http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/won-khim-lau, that weapon. Maybe they are using that. Besides, one handers are much more fun on a monk than a Skorn, so there's that.
Alot of monks like myself prefer the attack speed, which keeps spirit generation high and lifesteal at a constant increase instead of burst healing. With that spirit generation i can keep my overawe active up the whole time. Skorn may provide more paper dps, but usually less effective dps. Not to mention the more crits done because of the higher attack speed also provides more cyclones from Sweeping Wind:Cyclone which again increases the amount of lifesteal received.
2H's like Skorn are more effective in Tempest Rush builds where one hitting things is more important.
AFAIK 2h weapons (low APS) is only good for channeling spells, and for monk, that pretty much only caters to low MP Tempest Rush builds. High level monks in high MP levels require more spamming and spirit use, thus require higher APS to fuel spirit regeneration. Dual wielding is the way to go.
What am I missing, why are all these other monks using 2 1handers, but they all have less damage than I do?
