i'm a big fan of melee classes, and after playing the beta i really liked the monk and WD. New playthroughs on patch 13 make the DH look a lot better, but i think i'm still torn between WD and the monk, probably leaning towards the monk because he's got the glow.
I careful review on watching and reading all of the classes on youtube, the monk speaks to me the most. The reasons behind it for me really is because I love the idea of having group utility when in co-op and then when I am not in co-op I can solo very well. I will probably go with a demon hunter as a second option once I get my monk where I want him to be.
My first class is still gonna be the demon hunter. But from what I've been seeing lately, I've been leaning torwards making the monk my second character over the wizard, but time will tell.
I'm pretty sure that the monk will be my first, and possibly only class. I'd like to restrict playing a lot of classes simply due to the possible ability to make some money (like, enough for my WoW account) by selling cool stuff that I'd otherwise want for myself.
That said, I'd love to tinker around on the other classes to see if there's something I like a whole lot more.
I will definetly be trying out the Monk, I rememeber seeing a long video of a play through and the Monk caught my attention. After that I will also be trying the Wizard because the Sorc was my favorite class in D2. I had countless hours of playing with my Sorc MFing and such. I had a pretty nicely geared one, but lost it when I stopped playing for a while :(. I hope characters aren't deleted after a certain amount of time cause that kills me. I'm surprised I haven't been able to get my hands on the beta I never get into any betas and I've been playing Blizzard games since 98 wahh.
The monk will definitely be my main, and first character. The reasoning for this is that i have liked all the videos of the monks being played and havn't changed my mind about this character ever since they revealed it. All m mates are going to be different classes, then were all gonna play as a group, so the monk seems pretty interesting. Definitely my first and maain character.
For almost a year now, I was all about the barbarian. But the last month or so I've been looking more and more into the monk. As of this week, since patch 13 came out, I've been watching some live streaming at RH Gaming, and I must say that the gameplay of the monk, with his martial arts style versus the barbarians brute force actually made me change my mind.
I see so much more potential in the monk now. Heal, crit, damage, tank, evasive and fast...
Even tho I'll definetly try the barb out aswell, but it'll be a close race between those 2 characters. All I can say for sure is that the least appealing character for me is either the Witch Doctor or Wizard.
If and when i get a beta key, i cant really decide. It's between the Monk and the Barb, both of them look like they are going to be a blast to play. I initially leaned towards the Barb when D3 was first announced and characters given, but after watching gameplay with the Monk it is starting to get more of a lean. Runed skills for the monk look amazing, and the later skills look to be really cool.
When I first thought about it I was looking forward to playing the Demon Hunter as my first character. However, after further review of articles, builds, videos, and finally a playthrough with the monk, I am confident that I will roll him first. There is something about dashing into a group of mobs, Blinding the whole group, and melting face with "Fists of Thunder" with the first skill rune applied to provide chain lighting effects. Aside from the cool fighting style the monk provides, I have always been a fan of group utility and he brings alot of that to the table. I was very used to playing a pally in WOW and D2 before and this is as close as I can get. I am certainly considering playing the wizard as my second character once my monk is maxed out.
I think I will be progressing one range one melee same time. Though in my case it is gonna be probably barb for melee and wizard/dh for range. I will go with monk only if I can stand playing that not to well done female character (I dislike her seriousness. Does not mix well with her accent for me). If I had to decide about one character to play it would probably be wizard as I like her and that she can be melee and range. It's so cool to go range for aoe and melee on bosses But with recent videos of DH (beta 13) and looking at her strafe/multishot ability with good long range vault (with improved path-finding) and possibility of having knockback as an weapon affix I think I may even go with DH. Though I like wizard character more (it goes perfectly with her funny thin voice).
I really want to play the monk as my first and main character. I like his skills and play style in the game. He's someone who could be a huge benefit for a group as well as lash out damage.
Monk is definitely going to be my first character. He reminds me of a healing/dps character which is the style of plat that I love. With the mantras and a few select passives, you can play like a boss.
Since they announced it, I wanted to play monk first as my main character.. though as of the latest change of the beta, I am thinking that I might do demon hunter instead.
That said, I'd love to tinker around on the other classes to see if there's something I like a whole lot more.

-Me
second female barbarian
also because I think they have wider potential in being solo/team player!
cannot wait to test him when D3 hit the streets (or the web xD)

This is the #1 reason to play as a monk for your first character. I hope the diabos don't end up being garbage.
