just to prove your point... not to rub it in at all... first act 1 bounty I did I got that ring. and have since found so few set items that I can't even use it!
I really enjoy having Wednesdays off when blizz releases on Tuesdays. while I do think this release will be smoother than D3V was (what a sucker), it shouldn't be broken by the next day.
as mentioned, shields give better block chance, and the midrange thing, but also skills are built around big increases to block chance. if you figure well geared crusaders are going to have better than 50% block chance (cap 75% ??) and skills that heal/stun/etc on block, it will mitigate a ton of damage. adding the 30% was probably overkill when they tested it.
I'm definitely looking forward to not being a slave to one or two stats, the skorn on my ptr char made the whole game experience less interesting for me. i'd find a nice ptr belt or something, which should've been an upgrade, but because it didn't have CHC on it, was a huge dps hit. definitely looking forward to starting fresh. it's good to know you're finding weapons that can compete though, because we're going to be running with 2.0 for a full month.
completely agree that the official forums will be nuts. sort of unavoidable if players haven't been paying attention to ptr/beta changes I guess, itemization is just so different. until ROS hits and we can outlevel current gear, things like a skorn that roll insane CHD, which can't roll anywhere near current levels in loot 2.0, will destroy the new gear that drops. break out the e-tissues.
fully cleansing the account with the exception of gold, so the early patch really works out nice for me. planning on rolling a crusader at launch, so i'll probably lvl a WD after patch, as my favorite ranged class. off topic, but if I delete all my chars, will it reset all the blacksmith / jeweler levels, or is that just tied to account?
erasing all my characters, carrying over gold only, and starting fresh. i loved the ptr experience right up until i equipped my old AH skorn, and instantly the game was less interesting. also I luvs new contentz!
i agree with most of what's said here, I prefer D3 because the combat just feels so much better, etc. I did enjoy playing through POE, just not enjoyable enough to keep going longterm. I did want to pop in to say that although I didn't love the POE story, and it is overly dramatic as someone mentioned above, for some reason I thought the voice acting was phenomenal on a lot of the NPCs. just super quirky and interesting. It's weird that the story was subpar when a lot of the NPC's dialogue was so memorable. I'll probably pop back in for the new content, then not play again for 6 months.
you get xp for literally everything, so its pretty fun to level. kill mobs, harvest resources, search out vistas, try some crafting, you get good xp for all of it, so it doesn't really matter what you do. I'd try to do your personal story up to visiting lions arch, because the nextstory update might blow the city up, and it'd be a shame to start playing and never get to check it out.
played it at launch, and it definitely scratched the mmo itch for a while. leveling was fun, combat and dynamic events are cool. I enjoyed a lot of the story, locations, etc. but as others mentioned, long term it just gets repetitive. I do have to give them credit, they update w/ new content at least monthly. if you're a completionist, getting all the landmarks and doing all the puzzles is a pretty good time. glad you made the topic, I need something to do until 2.01 goes live. asura necro incoming!
