now, just seeing the % make me wonder what the hell is wrong with blizzard, they're gonna raise the damage monsters do to us, while i'm frantically trying to understand what the hell i need to do to not be oneshotted by every spit (i know my hp is kinda low, just 28k, but i can't seem to be able to get anything better atm),
i do not use gloom as i hate short-duration skills, and use SS only for the reflect packs (or flee, since vault is bugged-for-life), getting all res is really expensive, but i got to about 300-350, still not enough it seems, now that they are raising the damage (not lowering as they said previously) i'm wondering how am i supposed to play (since you can't play with your own style, or at least, they're preventing me from mine), they said:
We are adjusting some runes and passives to provide ways to increase survivability
but the only thing i see in this direction is the Boar Companion, is it worth a slot now ?
they changed Perfectionist to increase life, armor and resistances, but 10% seems very low (2.8k hp, 300 armor, and 30-35 res, not worth it, right?), compared to other attack passives that let me kill faster, also almost all these "defensive" ways we can go require me to lower and lower my damage, i don't want a semi-tank that does no damage, but i don't want a glass cannon either, i should be able to withstand 2-3 hits
at the beginning of 1.0.4 i've gone to the knockback style, legendary bow with 47% kb and rain of vengeance, stampede (for elites, so i can knockback more), usually i kill anything with just evasive fire, sometimes spike trap to raise the damage and kite elites with reflect (even tho they're deadly fast in act2) but now they're lowering the already very low effectivity of CCs (i thought 47% was a lot, and it isn't), seems like i wasted my money on this bow, as after just 5 seconds the knockback will be negated totally (26% of the original value, and it says that it will not have any effect if the CC is less than 0.7 or 0.5 secs too), and stampede become useless too, so i can change it for something else..
You ask what to do in your first paragraph and then list in detail what you should be doing, but don't do, in your second paragraph.
You already know the answer to your question. Use Gloom. Use Smokescreen. Get more resists. Items with resists are very cheap, atm. Drop the Windforce and get another bow.
Your build doesn't make sense. You're using Sharpshooter but you have almost no Crit Damage, so it's being wasted. Get a bow with crit damage and a socket. Kill faster. It might be time to lose the MF if it's impacting your build to the point where you can't survive.
The mobs don't hit harder until a few MP levels in. Anything under MP3 and you'll barely notice a difference. They might even hit for less.
-Aren't they nerfing the base-line damage of monsters by 25%? (and in turn, reducing the damage reduction from abilities which you don't/can't yet even use?)
-They are buffing slow in inferno, as well as crowd control, as well as many crowd control abilities see: Thrill of the hunt, numbing traps(with use of sentry/grenades) while buffing other skills that have synergy with said skills...
-Making high level monsters spawn high level affixes (consistently) on items and
-Doubling the drop rate of legendaries and
-Increasing the effectiveness (works on resplendent chests) and ease of collection of the Nephalem Valor buff (from chests/major completed events)... put together mean that on a difficulty as low as monster player level 1 (I BELIEVE), you can roll high level items/affixes by clearing just about any part of inferno on any act...
This patch should be the best thing that ever happened to you, I would think.

Yes but read the blue post about 1.05 from yesterday, it details how damage scales with MP. The 25% damage nerf is quickly lost when you boost the MP as I have learned on the PTR. Damage scales quickly, MP 0 or MP1 feels like hell mode basically in how easy it is, walk in the park kind of stuff. Get into higher MP's and you are losing 70% of your life pool to white mobs in A4.
OP, if want to survive monster power, use a lower MP. All items that drop will be over ilevel58 (more gold when you vendor everything), more legendaries drop (again more gold if you sell them or get lucky enough to find an upgrade), buffs to CC, etc. A lot of these changes will help you gear up to survive higher MP levels. Or you can buy gold which is about 50 cents on US RMAH right now and gear up real quick.
Best of luck in 1.05 and happy hunting as you quest for rings!
it's not like i don't want to spend money, it's just that i don't have many (less than 2m) and nothing seems to be selling since a month (i never find good items, but usually i could sell some for 20-70k, now it goes 0 all the time)
going about resist gear, let's just compare my belt: 126 dex, 154 vit, 15 AR, 7y
searching for the same (without 7y even if i need it) with just 40 more AR asks me to fork about 8m, and since the only money i'm getting is the one from selling powders, it's too much for that little change.
going on pants and chest (the two lowest pieces in my opinion) i can let go the mf, but i need more money to get something with AR here, not less than 3m it seems right now, still doable ofc, i can do this change (in about a month or two if nothing keeps dropping/selling) and gain about 70 AR and 4k life, but will it be enough to not be the stupid white fly in monster's den ?
also, as i see it, you all are mostly saying that i can't play my style, that i need to play with preparation, gloom, SS, so what are the other skills for ? i want to be different, ss and gloom every 3-5 seconds annoys me, i'm ok with kiting and using these skills maybe one time now and then, but it should be doable in more ways, knockback should be one of them, immobilize/slow another one, and so on with every CC, why do i even get to chose the skills if everything's useless unless i do things in a certain way?
getting to die multiple times is annoying, moreso when you get hitted about 32k each time, and some monsters do hit really fast, that's why i hope the boar is useful in anything (somebody knows?), i'd switch stampede for it if that's the case, the templar is useless, with the awful res he's getting from just jewelry+shield+token... he's a joke of tank
going about crit damage, yes, mine is kinda low, just 166%, still better than nothing, also last time i checked the x/bows better than mine were so expensive i couldn't do much, i got this for knockback and life steal, thought it was good (And min damage was higher than mine)
i think i get more dps from sharpshoot (i have just 37% crit) than cull of the weak (Also cause i don't slow at all, i'd like to use caltrops, but they 1) don't fit my tab actually with their cost and 2) the fact that you lay it below yourself is kinda stupid), i got about 50-60k base damage (depending if i use my dps helm or not), i can switch for perfectionist once it gets changed and try what happens with boar, but right now nothing, for me, beats this.
and no, kodachii, they're nerfing CCs, you can read it clearly, in inferno you'll get a 25% base penalty, then every second the monster is CCed (and they're not even counting which type, so your follower will even worse things if you put CC attacks) reduces the 75% by 10%, so overall you'll always be lower than the fixed 60% it is in 1.0.4 right now just after your first hit.
thanks for the help, i'll prolly try to get some chest/legs when i have the money (i guess i'll drop mf totally, these 3 months it was kinda useless to me), now am wondering, there's a guide with the "best new" legendary/set piece for every slot as a DH?
i was thinking about mp 2-3 (what they said it should be the same as it is now!), btw considering a kiting build what would you change hurricane for, calamity (1h, far from now) or manticore (xbow, veeeeery far from now) ?
btw about SS, i do use it, i know it is a very good skill, i just can't stand the "perma SS/gloom" need somebody talks in other topics, that's not actually playing a game, to me
To OP.:
Im feeling nice today, can boost you in act3 when I get home (thats around 4-5pm CEST). I quite often just vendor alot of items that are better than what you got. Add me if you need help n0c0#2424 (Valid as of 15th of October)
