With the new patch there were a lot of changes to the Blessed Shield - Shattered Shield build, many thought it was a flat nerf because of the almost halved damage from the shattered shields, however overall it is in fact a buff in my opinion. Shattered shields are now considered holy damage based and therefore provide a significant survivability and also scaling damage benefit. In addition the new Fervor passive greatly synergizes with this build, since blessed shield is one of the few abilities we have that really benefits from attack speed.

Can you please share your vision on the desired passives for Foote+Jekang gear combination?
Before the patch I've been running the following: Finery, Hold Your Ground, Renewal and Holy Cause.
With our passives becoming more versatile and potential, I'm thinking to switch to: Finery, Towering Shield, Fervor and Holy Cause. With our 30% dmg reduction buff, survival should not be a big issue imo.
Has it not been holy before 2.0.5? I thought so, as I already was stacking holy damage. But I'm glad to hear, that Blessed Shield is still good, and got a buff against single targets (+ Bowman also got buffed )
Only initial shield was holy based, now the shattered shields are also holy so each time they ricochet they proc holy cause healing you for a ton. Also they scaled with + holy dmg % gear.

Fervor is amazing now, 15% ias + 15% cdr is a lot of value for one skill and they are both good for the shield build, finery is also good since it scales now as well however hold your ground is a weak damage passive for shields which also goes for any item that increases block chance. Although it does work with it, the numbers aren't that good. Towering shield is a must since it's a flat 20% boost to shields. Last passive should be holy cause for 10% weapon damage increase and the insane heal.
This is out of topic but is crusader alot of fun? atm. i am playing wizard arcane build and it's getting bored.
I have been looking on streamers with this build and it looks pretty awesome. but is it just as awesome as it looks?
I concider rerolling
I've been playing Crusader since launch and haven't got bored yet, still farming for optimal gear as well which might be part of the reason why. They are certainly a breath of fresh air after playing vanilla for so long though. Shield build is incredibly fun, the bounces make you feel good inside
Shattering Throw: When the shield hits an enemy, it splits into 3 small fragments that bounce between nearby enemies, dealing170% weapon damage as Holy to all enemies hit. (Up from 50%, damage element now specified)

You shouldn't grab your sources from datamined information. On D3 main page it does not state "damage element now specified" If you have been using shattering throw this whole time then you should know that it has been holy damage pre 2.0.5. So yes it was nerfed...

great, thx for quick feedback! Very glad about the changes - makes Shield spec more boss friendly.
Now I really feel torn about what to try first - keep with Blessed shield (have Foote and Jekang) ) or shotgunning (Fate of Fell in stash) or even neverending Heaven's Fury with Fate+Emerli CHaro
I don't think the Eberli Charo ( http://us.battle.net/d3/en/item/eberli-charo )works for the "shotgun" build as it lowers the "cooldown" of Heavens Fury. If you take the Fires of Heaven rune you remove the cooldown alltogether and substitute it for a Wrath-cost. I don't think the shield lowers the wrath-cost as well.
I know I was referring to Blessed Ground rune if going with this shield.
Is your build viable without the 1H Flail? Seems to be the only piece I am missing on my Sader.
The build is still viable and arguably better without Gyrfalcon. A 2 hander will provide more damage overall but the only one I could see being usable would be FotF if you went for a non Fires of Heaven rune. Skycutter provides 20% more holy damage which is obviously going to give you superior damage while still allowing you to use Fervor. To keep up your wrath Reaper's Wraps are almost good enough alone to manage it and if you still needed more then you could use LoV - UF or SG - ZG.
Either the weapon or 6 piece Akarath set bonus with +30cdr is pretty much required for blessed shield builds to work properly without specializing your items for something like wrath regen. You can possible run blessed shield with a generator too but even then crusader wrath generation is pretty freaking slow.

It says "damage element now specified" but that doesn't necessarily mean it didn't work 'properly' beforehand.
It might as well mean that the damage element is just being displayed in the text now as beforehand it was a bit confusing perhaps?
Obviously you can be right, I'm not denying it, but there is no hard proof that it didn't work 'properly' pre-patch either, which I think is the more propable option in this case.
I'm basing the holy damage change to shattered shields based off the fact that they proc holy cause now.

iirc only the initial shield was holy damage for effects like holy cause
Going live now if you have any questions!:olddiablo:
shattering throw as holy dmg did work befor just fine i dont understand where people making this up from just from datamine i did 8m crits on the initial hit and the shatters did aswell and i healed every shield i threw around 30-50k hp it was just fine and now when i tested the build again its exactly the same
Guys, I wonder how the Blessed Shield damage changes impact the ricochets from Jekangbord? Do I understand it correct, that the 4-6 ricochets count as initial, not-shattered damage (i.e. 430%)?
every hit after the first hit counts as bounce (aka 170% weapon dmg) including the 3 standard splitted (which are "shattered") aswell as the 4-6 ones from your jekangboard.
Thanks, Kitaen - exactly I wanted to know and actually matches my feelings about BS after patch.
