Hey guys I know the best answer to this is to test it myself, which I'll be doing when I get home from work tomorrow, in the meantime I'm curious on your opinions and maybe someones played with this before.
I'm at 93% fire dmg with my Devastator (still crafting them for a better roll or until I get something better to drop)
Well, think of the BK set as being extra passive dmg; Since you can still attack normally while the WW proc takes effect (at least you could in vanilla, I don't have the set post 2.01). BUT, you'll have to decide if the 325% passive dmg per second for 6 second proc is > + % elemental dmg.
I agree. While this is a nice bonus I wonder if TF's 368% proc would outweigh this, jumping to additional targets (melee not needed) and slowing their attack and movement speed. I read the icd on the whirlwind is something like 12 seconds? Can anyone confirm or know what TF's icd is?
I tried out BK set myself and it was kind of unimpressive solely because the whirlwind proc seemed to have an internal cooldown of about 12 seconds. Even if you manage to fully utilize the 6 seconds of bonus whirlwind, which is physical damage and not boosted by many damage multipliers such as +% fire/lightning damage (and probably also +% whirlwind damage), you're looking at 162.5% damage per second over time.
If you're using fire Whirlwind with maces or faster, you normally do about 600% weapon damage/sec (assuming 1.67 attack speed). Assuming 90% fire skill damage, this means the BK proc can optimally account for about 1/7 more damage per second. Devastator would give about 10% more damage itself, and Sun Keeper would give about 25% more, depending on your other elite damage bonuses. Thunderfury would need to give about 4% more damage from its proc to start outweighing BK swords when paired with a Devastator (at around 90% bonus fire damage). As long as Thunderfury procs at least once every 8 seconds, it should do as much or more damage than BK swords when paired with Devastator's 10% bonus (not accounting for the number or position of monsters, as BK is a small circle effect and TF is a fairly long chain of lightning that caps at 5 targets).

This is my BK set:
And my other set
I sometimes switch Devastator out for Mad Monarch's Scepter.
I can't see the BK set being better, but like I said, just wanted to see what your guys' thoughts were on it anyways.
Thanks all.
