You could say (and try to prove) that Blizzard is only in this business for money and that they suck the dicks of all their shareholders because that's the only thing they're concerned with doing
OR
You could say that they're just trying to make a good game.
Why does anyone care about a release date anyway? Can you give me three good reasons why I should care?

Zoom out to show a whole year. They're actually doing better than they were last January.
Last year stock was at 11.535, this year 12.22.
Thats bad.....its WAY less than a 10% gain. If there is no relase info...either a quarter or an actual date it will drop back to 11.50 or farther. This is not a good stock to own for long term growth. You might get 5% in short term but thats dumb and dividends on this stuff is not good.
It actually means a lot....its the first article in which he is referring to. OUTFLOW DETECTED It had nearly double the avg daily trading volume and a lower price, that means there are a lot of sell orders and not very many option buys. It is showing that investors are getting tired of waiting.... And to those who don't think this stuff makes a difference it really does, it really really makes a big difference. How many successful companies do you see that are $3/sh? If the sells keep coming in the shares will become heavily diluted and the value will decrease and so will the company. Blizz will then have to spend their own money buying back stock trying to save face and then the slide beings until the post a massive quarter after the release of D3.....counting on massive sales for 1 game to save you isn't a good strategy

Basic question for stock people: How much do you expect the price/share to increase when D3 releases?
Not much, it will at best be like 13$. And I wouldn't be so sure about that, the investors were aiming for a release in 2011. The delay inevitably lowered the value of D3 and the stock.
For comparison, look at SC2 release in 2010.
The real question about D3 is not about the sales of D3, my thoughts are they are fairly well estimated and already valued as future value. I think the real thing is whether or not the RMAH will be a surprisingly big cash cow or not.

The answer to this question is in two pieces:
1. It will bounce with the release and will bounce again with the quarterly results after the release (when all copies are sold that fist month). you will see a moderate 5%, its a tech stock.
2. The more intriguing, and to me, the most important figure is the continual revenue stream from the RMAH. THIS little part right here will dictate future growth within the stock and will also lay the blueprint for the new MMO's in the future. IF this is a successful and significant flow of cash you will see it pop another 5-10 points.
If you were thinking of owning the stock....meh... depends on why you want it. It's not in my portfolio, nor will it be. If you want to own a little bit to say that you own some ATVI, that's cool because you are a fan, if you want to own it for long term growth, go AAPL, look at the charts it doesn't prove to go much higher, AAPL will be releasing dividends sometime this year they will pop 20% with the 2 new releases and dividends. Its about % not about price, if you can only afford $1,000 and buy 2 shares of AAPL and it goes up 20% its still 20% on 1,000 and thats good
