I am new to playing seasons and need some help on the above to complete Act 2 in Season 7 (have finished all the other objectives expect this one) - I have done numerous rifts and Greater Rifts - have received 9 Legendary gems - but still Act 2 is not complete. Please can someone help??
Welcome to DFans! I still moved this thread from "intro" to "general discussion" since it's rather the latter.
First, I think you meant "Chapter" and not "Act" - the game has 5 acts as part of the story as well as for different bounties in adventure mode. Just to avoid confusion, I'll assume you're talking about the Season Journey Chapters.
Second, you have to change the game difficulty in the difficulty selection screen *before* starting the game. You can see the difficulty at the top right of your screen, and right now it probably says "normal", so any Nephalem Rift you do right now is Normal. But there are 16 other difficulties; you can probably bump it up right to Torment 1 if you've already done 9 Greater Rifts, or even higher.
Below a link to my battle.net profile. I am not an expert gamer (54 years old) so please excuse my ignorance but I really enjoy playing Diablo when I have some spare time - any advise would be appreciated.
Thank you for your advice - I have tried upping my difficulty on version 2.4.2.39192 but it won't let me - get a message "You cannot increase the difficulty any higher without starting a new game". So I'll just plod along or if I have time start a new game :-(
In answer to your curiosity - It's the other way around I got my daughter hooked on Diablo. Always played games and got Diablo 1 for my birthday many many years ago, and then played Diablo 2. Requested Diablo 3 ROS for my christmas present when it was first released - ever since then have not stopped playing and will probably play until I die :-)

"Start a new game" here just means going to the menu (ESC and "leave game"). You don't have to restart the game, as in your character's progress or anything :-)
When you start Diablo 3 there's this button "Start game", and below it is the button that lets you change settings, including difficulty settings (there were you also chose Adventure Mode instead of Campaign Mode). That's where you'll be able to select any difficulty.
IronLady, I see you're wearing 2 pieces of the Vyr's set, which unlocks all Runes for the skill Archon. I would highly recommend using Archon on your skill bar to utilize this set bonus. It should help you wreck face in lower difficulty rifts until you can obtain better gear.
As you progress, you will learn that many of the legendary items you are using now might seem cool or fun but will not help you progress any further. For instance your Wand, albeit as it may find your death humorous, it is useless other than providing you a baseline for your damage skills. Also, the items you are using in your Kanai's cube could be swapped and provide you some serious boosts.

Shift+J gets you the progress Journal when you are in a game to help you out.

Thank you - feel so stupid now :-(
Don't feel stupid. You asked, you got answers and improved your understanding. That's like the opposite of stupid^^ Also, welcome!
