Just wanted to know, how dedicated will Blizzard be maintaining the quality of the game? By this i mean not only patches, which keep the game alive but also moderators etc.
I was thinking along the lines of League of Legends, where patches appear regularly every 2 weeks. I know Blizzard has many other commitments, but it would be nice to have periodical patches to nerf/buff closer to balance.
Also, the ability to report players like spambots would be nice
What I cant wait to find out is: what are patches going to hold?
Patches in SC2 hold fixes..as thats all you really can add with a patch...
But diablo is a game full of content. At its core, its a PVE game. So im hoping we indeed get some content via patches in between expansions. I think bash was already talking about how this is something they want to do. So I think its safe to say, we WILL be getting lots of love. The true question is, in what form will that love come in =P
Patches are not only to remove bugs, but to add new items and stuff to the game.
I agree with IceD. First, mods will not be supported. Jay Wilson has said that. Second, the only thing I can see being in the patches, other than fixes, would be equipment and drops. I highly doubt any real changes will be in a patch.
Third, we don't know how much of the game we will get. I am assuming that majority of the game will be on their servers. Remember, D3 will be online only. Mostly, if any patches happen, it will be on their side and not given directly to the clients.

You know thats one of the posts I was trying to find... or maybe it was a video interview, but its maken me mad that I can't.
Anyway yeah, in it they were saying how they like that with this online always system, people will always be up to date, and they can also send out hotfixes to fix things whenever they want without forcing people to download patches. In that, they also said they would still have to do patches, as if they change an item, they would have to patch the tooltip...ect. But I swear they also talked about wanting to "see" about throwing out content in between expansions. Its erking me that I can't find it.
As far as content patches, that's anyone's guess.. I surely wouldn't expect one before the expansion. Now bug fixes and balancing will be hot-patched very commonly, I'd say weekly at least for a few months.
As Jay said in a recent interview (I think with G4), people think when the game is released Blizzard's work is done, when it all reality they work just as much on the game after it's in your HD, than when it's in late development.
“We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about.” - Albert Einstein
Its really anyones guess as we have nothing to compare it to with blizzard.
We have wow, which is a paid subscription mmo, so content patches are a most.
Starcraft 2 is a pvp game, content comes in the form of maps, which blizzard can add very easily, and is not really a "content patch"
so we have nothing to compare on how blizzard thinks about todays games. So its true only time will tell, and I can't wait thats for sure.
But Winged I think you just saved me, that sounds like the video I must have been thinking about!
I think diablo isn't really the game for content patches, I think they put more effort/content into the exspansions, however with this new RMAH perhaps we will see some content in our patches rather than only having bug and balence fixes.
I'd like to see moderation like League of Legends with the tribunal system. That frees up money that would go to the moderators that can then be rerouted to producing new content.
Meh they have 2 expansions probably planned as well so either way we get love through those and if the RMAH lets them keep doing content, call me happy!

If you thing that it is good ... well you're wrong
All patches point was solving balance problems and bugs
i don't think blizz will provide content patch before the expansion for Diablo 3, so patches = not so much work was put in testing = lazy developer.
I'm going to politely disagree. I am expecting much more content patches and things like such from Blizzard. I think thats partially why they are gearing the game the way they are. I'm very excited to see how they'll do this with how inferno is set up. If they increase level cap does inferno change with it? I'd assume so because a 5th difficulty would be well, too much.
The problems they run in to are also obvious with the RMAH existing etc, will top gear remain top gear for long? If so, how long? There are a ton of issues with content patches. However, I expect and hope that content patches do occur.

At this very moment, there is no real way of knowing because of a major factor. We don't know how much of the game will be given to the client and how much will be on their servers. I believe most of the patches will be more like hot fixes
than traditional patches.
They have said that will not be adding any equipment through RMAH, though they could through inferno. I feel that they are not going to give us that many patches.
Remember, it is an online only game. D2 was an offline game with online capabilities, where D3 will not have any offline capability. That means that they can have a majority of the game on their servers that talks to the clients computer. We may not have more than 1 or 2 gigs, though that is very unlikely. This is not like SC2 and I don't think it's even close to WoW.
With the amount of work they put into it it would be lame not to give it its patches/ expacs, etc.
unless jay is absolutely sick of looking at it when the time comes XD

I am assuming that when you say expacs you mean expansions. According to 'leaked' documents, there will be 2.
Now, patches are created to, in a sense, 'patch' a game. Seeing that the game could be mostly on their servers, I doubt that we will see anything that resembles patches. This theory is based on the assumption that the majority of the game will be on Blizzard's servers and not given to the client.

But it's totally possible to add new dungeon for example coz of random placeholder thing... but i think blizz won't do this

That being said, I don't see this happening.
